I had this issue before with Dragon Age Origin, semi fixed it by downloading new drivers, even then, the game would sometime freeze, but at least it wasnt often and the game was still playable, however now, its completely insane, how can I fix this? Anyone has any idea?

I play, game is fine, then screen freezes, I hear a strange sound from my speakers, screen turns black as if it just turned itself off however you hear the computer is still working. ctrl-alt-del does nothing, alt-tab does nothing, even sometime, when pressing on reset, the screen goes back to black, when this happens, I usually have to shut down my computer using the power supply, waiting for a few seconds, then turn it back on and its fine.
Computer works fine of various other games, but Dragon Age seems to kill it after 10 minutes to an hour, and an hour is being generous. It makes this awesome game unplayable and frustrating, plus, it cant be good to always reset your computer by the power supply continously I believe.

The exact same thing happened to me after I installed the 1.03 patch. I had a bunch of mods, I thought that might be the problem, so I took them off (I put them in a folder on my desktop) Still had the same problem. I uninstalled DAO, reinstalled, put in only to patch 1.02, but then I could not install "Awakenings", I would get a "failure to install" message.
So...here is what I did, and so far, it's working fine:
1. Moved the "Characters" folder to desktop (it should be under Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Characters
2. Moved all my mods to a folder on my desktop. (they should be in your Documents/Bioware/Dragon age/packages/core/override folder)
3. Uninstalled DAO completely.
4. Reinstalled DAO.
5. Installed the 1.03 patch from the "Awakenings" DVD (Double click on "Computer", then right click on "Dragon Age" DVD and choose "Explore". Double click on the "patch" folder, right click on the DAO patch, and choose "run as administrator")
6. I then installed Awakenings.
7. Reinstalled DLC.
So far, so good. No weird whirring noises or hard crashes to desktop. I put all my mods back in, and it all seems good.
I was hesitant to download the patch from the website, because of the problems I had after I downloaded it the first time. Dunno if there is an easier way to resolve the issue, but this seemed to work for me.

Can you post your system specs (OS, hardware, driver versions)?
There is another thread that talks about the constant crashes in 1.03 and Awakening. Many people with many different types of equipment are having issues
AMD 6000
NVidia GTX 275 Driver 196.34 (beta from NVidia site)
6gb DDR2 800 Patriot RAM
320gb 7200 RPM Western Digital HD
Thermaltake Toughpower W0172RU
850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Power Supply
Windows Vista 64 Premium with SP2
Sitting in a Thermaltake Armor case with extra cooling.
The game ran great a month or two ago. ME and ME2 run fine. Starcraft 2, Global Agenda, Civ 4, and anything else I play now run fine. DAO:A just freezes every 10-30 minutes and requires closing with task manager (if I'm lucky) or a hard reboot.
There are people with ATIs, with Intel processors, with DDR 2 or 3 RAM, using 7200 RPM drives or Raptors or even SSDs, people with XP Vista and 7 all having issues. I understand that you guys need information to figure out what is wrong. I just don't understand what asking for specs can do to help when so many people with so many different kinds of systems are having issues. Good luck fixing it either way. I'm looking forward to playing but I'll wait until the crashing is better first.

I have Vista ultimate, 64 bit OS, 4 gb RAM, and an ATI Radeon 3870 x2 HD vid card. All my sound/vid drivers are up to date. I think it was the patch, since everything was fine with prior patches. All I know is, for me, that fixed the problem
