Ok, so can anyone tell me what the Geth Orb (Exogeni - Ferros) is all about?  Having completed ME1 and ME2 recently, I now have a decent understanding of the ME universe.  However, I am confused as to what the ORB is all about.  I appreciate that the site is some sort of geth religious alter, but does the orb itself have any further significance?? What is it? Where does it come from? What does it do?  There is no further reference to it in ME1 and nothing in ME2.  Have i missed a codex entry?  Thoughts from other forumites would be gratefully rec'd, its doin ma head in!

basically the white orb shining light is basically a clever way of showing enlightenment(like showing light onto faith or revealing infomation). so with the orb being encased by a reaper shaped covering its saying that the geth (heritics) belive the reapers are enlightened and are to be worshipped.

Its Biowares way of showing you that geth can have faiths and they can have a broader range of thought other than, to kill or not to kill.

i could be completely wrong but thats my theory.

In ME1 there are 2 of those orbs:

on Feros and in some cave during a side quest (I think it's the one where you investigate the abandoned science camp and find the team converted to husks). But I didn't come across further explanations.

Yes I completely agree.  However, I was referring to the orb itself.  Is it just some light rigged up by the geth to highlight the above, or is it a more specific/special item?

The game never fully explains what that glowing orb is, so we can't answer your question. However, I'm of the opinion that the glowing orbs are ancient Reaper technology that were found (by the ExoGeni corporation) and appropriated (by the Geth), in a similar way to the Husk spikes.

i think there is no answer, as strange as that sounds think about it. Putting somthing somwhere with no explanation of what it is or why its there poses curiosity. so it makes you think. Bioware wanted you to think, explore your own imagination of why, when, what ,who. to enrich your experience.

rather than just ruining it by saying oh yeah the geth found it in the closet and plugged it in :P

Maybe it's a little Dyson Sphere? (What the geth wants to become in the future) :|

I think it's a bucky ball... only really really big.

What I meant with my previous post was simply that there is no more information on this topic. Only the game writers could extrapolateo what they intended.
