My only wish is that instead of the companion that you start with, they would port in your lover from Origins. Even if they only bring Leliana or the others to Warden's Keep and have them die in a joining ritual (if you choose to put her/him through it) or even just stand in the room all game, I would be happier as opposed to just ignoring girlfriend/boyfriend companions as they did.

Other than that I am two hours into Awakenings and I am loving it. I had done three full play throughs on Origins, gotten every trophy and frankly I was getting bored with it, so any extra content is welcome.

Who knows, maybe I'll run into my crazy girl, Leliana later (no spoilers). Perhaps I am not as critical as others or have as high of expectations, but I guess that in this case I am happy to be naive.

I won't spoil it for you, EA/Bioware have already spoiled it for us all!

in re: to Haexpane

I do have ps3, however I have the newer slim which is yet to be able to play the older titles.

I've heard about VS years ago, just never played it...not a fan of many JRPG's, though...but there have been a very few I liked.

back on topic, despite this add-on (to me, that is all this is.. an isolated add-on, it doesn't feel fully connected to Origins..imo) I do want more DA..

just hoping it will be better supported than Origins... thanks BW/EA/Edge of Reality... your game support plain out sucks! (especially for the 360) love all the non-support there. Anyone with any of the 360 game-killing glitches knows what I'm speaking off, in regards to the support...or rather ring-around-the-consumer, back 'n' forth game they played with us.

<cough> sorry about that rant..still feeling a little hostility in stuck in my throat <cough> need to get some water...

I'm about half-way through my first awakenings experience and I must say..it's not an addictive attention grabber as Origins was...I could play Origins for 12 hrs+ straight through and not want to leave my console..it's hardly the case with this... I'm not sure I even want to play through this again with my next Origins chracter...

simply not very addictive..interesting..or whichever word you prefer...

I'm thinking play through once, then trade in..sadly, that's how I feel.

Im the same way, I played origins through with every possible race/class variation. I wont repeat Awakenings once. I replayed a few segments making different moral choices and didn't see any difference.

How are they interesting when they have no conversation? Just curious. Unless you mean the concepts of them is interesting. To me its kind of like buying a new book titled "10 ways to have 2 hour orgasms" only to find the book is glued shut!

After three hours of playing, I actually set down my remote and decided to check what was online. I actually woke up at four in the morning just to get all my stuff done (gym and chores) just to play this game (downloaded it from PSN yesterday).

I could actually play Origins for about ten hours straight, and have to force myself away from the control. I don't know if my opinion has anything backing it, but I feel ripped off like the Fallout 3 DLC made me feel. The game is just too buggy (experiencing framerate issues and sound drops), and I feel like the story is trying to throw me into the ending from the start.

Oh well, I guess I can go back to playing Street Fighter II HD Remix and watching Judge Judy after classes lol. Since the new expansion or whatever will be released next year, I'm glad we get our Dragon Age dosage pretty soon. I just hope BW doesn't fail us again... I haven't been this immersed in a storyline since MGS4 and Fallout 1-2 which were a couple of years ago. Oblivion is another one, but I only like the graphics not the story.

So I assume anyone complaining that there's only 15-20 hours of gameplay in the expansion never buys any video game that's not a 50+ hour epic RPG, right?

I didn't find any where near 20 hours of game play. For 40 dollars I would expect to be able to play a weekend full of new content. It took me just over 8 hours to play through. I am sure I missed a few a quests but not many. I did the missions from the chanters board and the other quest boards. I even played with the difficulty on hard. Lets face it some of the quests you just had to show up and finished it.

This was a very disappointing expansion. I played DAO through with each race/class variant. I can not bring myself to play DAOA again. each time I start it, I quit  after 10 minutes. The companions are so shallow no personality at all. The quests lack imagination.  The lack of interactions with and between companions might not be so noticeable if DAO was not so well developed in this area as it was. It had dimension that you could immerse yourself in. DAO had great depth. that DAOA is lacking.

The clever banter between companions that was amusing in DAO has been replaced by prepubescent screams of Mommy hes touching me! Or the adolescent toilet humor of Ohgren.

EA and Bioware have cheapened the name Dragon Age with this embarrassing expansion. This is hardly a Game of the year grade expansion. A perfect example of making money off reputation not content.

I would gladly accept a refund if I could get one. I continue to recommend DAO to friends who like RPG but I will also warn them away from this expansion.

The only games I purchase new at release are good RPGs and games with a significant multiplayer component, yes.  Anything else I'll borrow from a friend or pick it up a year later when I can grab it for $20 or so.  I expect at least 35-40 hours of gameplay out of any game I purchase at full price.  Sometimes that means that I only buy one or two "new" games in a year.  I'm okay with that (good games are still good a couple of years after their release), but I'd happily buy more new games if more quality content was being released.

My attempt at comparison was merely comparing the amount of time spent enjoying said entertainment with the price. Personally, I feel that I've gotten my money's worth in purchasing the expansion.

Typically speaking, most first expansions that are based of hit games are more expensive and go down in price as time progresses.

The companies that market the products at the given prices do so based on consumer demand. In my opinion (and I haven't done any research to back this up - this is merely speculation on my part), DA:O was a standalone game and didn't receive as much hype pre-release as many other games. So the original price was a great deal.

The game blew people away and created a large following -- so of course Bioware would want to capitalize on this with any future expansions. However, I highly doubt that if Bioware decides to release another expansion (not a sequel) for DA:O, the price will be far less than Awakening.

The price for Awakening also depends on where you decided to purchase the item. I've seen all different price variations, including discounts for pre-release orders.

I tend to be a pretty hardcore gamer chick, so I don't mind paying a bit more for a game from a company that has typically turned out some pretty amazing games. It's my hope that they're able to continue to create amazing products.

Once again, these are just my opinions. My intentions aren't to offend anyone.

The problem with your comparison is that it includes two disparate items. Apples to oranges. It would be more meaningful if you compared the Awakenings expansion to something along the same lines. Like, say, another game's expansion.
Given the cost of the game I don't understand your whole great value thing. I mean to say, value based on hype. Hype or not it was an expensive game. I agree with you on the quality of DaO and based on that it was worth the price. I don't regret buying it at all. With respect to the quality of entertainment, that I enjoy, it was a definately a good value.

So you steal it? Wow, great thinking there. If it's not worth buying, it's not worth playing.

Since you're a PC user, you'd be paying 30€ for an expansion. Which is the regular price.

Ontop of that, 15-20 hrs of quality gameplay that it offers is more than most games these days, let alone expansions.
Guess you haven't paid for a lot of games the past decade then, going by your pathetic "excuse".

And that's all it is, a pathetic excuse to pirate.

pretty much if its not worth the money i generally do not play it... the last game i got off the net was X-Men origins Wolverine... that game was a waste i was trying it out to see if it was worth buying but yet i beat it in a single sitting... Game companys needs to spend more time making good games that have substance like bioware usually does, rather then just throwing out some crap trying to make a cheap buck.

Quality > Quantity...... its a shame that that concept it lost on nearly every game company. Every company out there wants to be where Blizzard is money wise yet none of them seem to think a quality game is worth them making

no i don't play many games, thats because 90% of games now are shooters, which any moron with a thumb can play a shooter...  Berate me all you want Bioware is one of the few companys that put value on their titles, but now you pay 50 bucks for Origins and get a 60 hour games on average for a solid playthoug, then 40 bucks for less then 1/3 of that... something does not translate there

So quality = +30 hrs of gameplay? Come off it man.

And it's 25-30 bucksfor the pc version. I can sympathize with the console players for having to pay 40 € due to the console tax, but PC users? No.

depends on the game... but if you think spending 50 bucks on a game that less then 20 hours then you must have plaenty of money to burn. I work hard for my money 50 bucks to play something that will be beaten in 1 or 2 sitting is not worth it. That is why Bioware is generally the game company to go to, however ME2 IMO was not nearly as good as their typical work, and i will wait on DAA until they drop the price on it

DAA is 40 dollars which is more then the typical cost, that is nearly the cost of the main game... if you are going to charge almost full price for an expansion then make it nearly a full length RPG, DAA is not nearly full length its a side quest they want full price for
