^-- silly tenny...must find/watch that tNG episode now...

I really don't get this 'unsigned' business.  How exactly did the production line manage to print Litho's that somehow missed the "Hey Mr. Artist, please sign this" phase?  And since it obviously happened, why doesn't one simply just ask the artist to sign the ones that weren't...or is that because Bioware ran off a few extra...possibly just for the Bazaar...and I bet you-all just happened to make an extra extra few Illium's...by accident maybe?   I wonder how the fact that they're not signed or numbered contributes to the worth of it...one would think less of them but as they're still very limited and the artists arn't extremely well known, who can really say (maybe they would be worth even more as the unsigned will be *more* limited...?).

A question for all of you:
What do you think of the artistic style of some of these artists?  Personally, the ghostly, foggy, or uneven-time-lapse of some of the Lithographs (such as Illium and Afterlife) somehow turn off my photogenic/artistic appreciation...as if its a reality i can sort-of see but never truly make-out or understand, much less live in.  While others, such as the Citadel, Omega, or Minuteman, offer a very real vastness to tease my mind with - to the point where I'm finding pleasure in creating thoughts along the lines of:  "I could actually live there..."  Your-alls thoughts?

I really wouldn't care if the Illiums are signed or not, I just really love the image. Damn, now I have to camp the store waiting for them to go up. I somewhat doubt that the lack of signing will really decrease their value. While it acts as a proof that it is a legitimate lithograph, I believe that most people really want Illium for its design, not its rarity. I enjoy grand images such as Citadel/Minuteman/Omega, but I also have a liking for the more surreal images of Afterlife and Illium.

As for how/why they are unsigned, I don't think that it was with any malicious intent. Judging by how many weird things have already gone on with these lithos (finding the Citadels), I really can't even try to explain why these showed up. I'm just happy that I may be able to complete my collection. I *really* don't want to miss out on these, after getting lucky with the Citadel surprise release. Depending on the quantity, these will probably go faster than Citadel. Looking forward to an update around Monday...

i haven't seen the episode but the expression makes me laugh :P

Maybe these we're spares that missed the artist signature? or maybe when the artist was signing them, they accidently skipped afew lithos. (which sounds like the case with the other previous post) They'd be worth the same (now), except to people that might resell them on ebay- someone would call 'fake'.

I like the 'painted'/impressionism art style(term?). i get lost in it abit more, makes my eyes look into the painting and uses my imagination, espcially with scenery or sci-fi(the Afterlife litho). I love the citadel mainly because its sentimental value, compared to minute-man.

I'm not to sure about Illium after seeing those pictures again. does anyone have the Illium Litho IRL? how are the colours? it looks abit flat in the pictures (not that much contrast)

The Afterlife and Citadel lithos are my two favorites (and consequently I own both of them). While each of them is different in terms of style, I love both of them. The Citadel is more "realistic" and technical, and as you said, I think it's the sheer scope of the image that gives it it's "Wow!" quality. The Citadel is gigantic, and you really get an appreciate for it in the litho; the complexity of the station's design is very realized and solid.

The Afterlife I like because of it's atmospheric quality. It provokes more feeling than the cold, clean lines of the space station lithos, and it should. Afterlife is very active and full of people, it's not a rig hovering alone out in space. The painterly quality, the shadowy figures all invoke my imagination to fill out the forms in the image. Are they turians or humans or what? Why are they there? What kind of seedy business are they up to? If I walked into a place like Afterlife, would I be noticed at all admist the commotion? If I was, would it be good attention or bad? Etc, etc.

Both lithos have great artistic value and are notable for different reasons. The inorganic (the Citadel, the Minuteman) create a world for the denizens of Mass Effect to inhabit, and the more organic ones (the Afterlife, the Collector's ship) give you a heartbeat of that world. They present the attitude/motives/lifestyles of the denizens. Together these things make the ME universe breathe. That's what good concept art should do.

tenny, similarly to some of the store thumbnails, I'm pretty sure the Illium litho looks a lot more vibrant in real life. The camera just has a hard time capturing it.

Also, man does whoever paid $610 for that have to be rich. I don't care how rare it is, that price is just outrageus. You can understand why people want to buy more than one and just flip them for a very nice profit.

Should just print it yourself lol, if you printed it on 100 pound paper it would be close.

Well apart from the fact that it would be technically illegal to do so without permission of the copyright owner, the resolution of the wallpaper is far too low to make a decent size printout.

I've printed 16x20 in that resolution range and it came out nice. The actual image on the litho probaly is close to 16x20. True it will not be on par for quality but atleast you could have a nice print of the image on your wall for a fraction of the litho price. If you took the image too a professional place they could add a white border, extra.

As for copyright, I don't see any problem with printing a wallpaper too put on your wall. A publicly released wallpaper is public domain in my opinion. As long as you don't ever try too sell a print of it, I see no problem with printing one.

I like them all, in their own way.  If you are having trouble grasping some sort of understanding from a litho, try placing it in another room.  Perhaps in a different context it will give you a new meaning.

Strangely enough, The Collectors is my favorite just because it is so thought provoking for me.  You wouldn't imagine it from the "peering through the darkness" feeling you might get from it.  To each their own.

The Collectors one was strange for me, because it was the one I was least impressed with online (and apparently I'm not the only who felt that way, because it still hasn't sold out), but when I saw it actually printed on the lithograph, it looked really nice -- maybe one of my favorites now.

I agree with the Collectors, it has a dark forboding feeling too it. It allows you to fill in the details with your imagination. Very nice one, just looks like crap online for some reason.

I also like the DAO Arch Demon litho, it may look simple and boring online but it actually has alot of depth/detail. I like that it has a simple background because it focuses you simply too the demon. It is the Arch Demon afterall, the focus of the entire game and final battle so I am surprised that it doesn't seem too be selling. Its a great piece.

I was wondering if it had something too do with Dante's Inferno because of the dlc called St Lucia. Where is the info on the lithos for DI? I can't find anything about them on DIs website or anything.

I was at the warehouse and we do have Illium Lithographs I'll give you an update before they are released. They are unsigned but in mint condition. To answer a question about why extra exist, during the printing process to get 300 Lithographs almost twice as many are printed. The first several hundred are destroyed as the print press and colors and being tweaked to match the approved Lithograph. At the end of the process there are often Lithographs left over. We have not seen any of the extra Lithographs until now. Since the Illium Lithograph was released very early and many collectors did not get an opportunity to buy it we'll be releasing what we have available shortly.
