Hey,

This is the start of a second thread on the investigation of the audio problems being reported on the Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect 2.

The first thread: http://social.biowar...7/index/1501922 suggested that the majority of people were experiencing a problem where the audio would cut out during the Samara / Morinth showdown. At this time, we would like to ask people who are experiencing this problem for some additional information. Specifically, we would be interested to know if you are using any additional audio equipment (such as receivers) and if so, the manufacturer and model.

I want to emphasize that we are continuing our investigation and that your help and patience are very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Don M

I am not using any special setups for my audio. I am currently using an old Mitsubishi "tube" TV that is obviously standard definition. There's no subwoofers, stereo, bass, or anything of the like. Just standard TV speakers.

I do believe the audio also cuts out after you complete Mordin's recruitment mission. Dialogue text shows up on the screen but he never speaks the lines.

I'm using an Audio Engine A5 which plugs into my Samsung HDTV that has a split DVI output between my computer and my XBox 360. Nothing else.

I also now have Consumption from swivelling my tv around, breathing in a hideous amount of dust that I could have sworn I'd cleaned out a year ago, just so I could remember how the audio was plugged in. Do not let my impending death be in vain, Don Moar.

I had the same problem with the Samara/Morinth scene. Fortunately I had the subtitles on at the time so it wasn't a big deal. I am not using anything other than the XBox HD Component cable hooked up to my 1080p lcd tv.

So, when should we be expecting a full fix, Mr. Moar?

Probably when they figure out what the problem is.  If I were to guess I would say all the audio works fine on their end, meaning the original sound files work fine.  So then the question is, if the audio is working fine and those same files are in the game, why are they cutting out?

My only theory is that it has something to do with the format of the audio of those particular tracks, the audio levels, or the type of audio that it is.  Of course I can be completely wrong but that's why I said it was a theory.

Cut out for me at Morinth and Samara. I use sub-titles too, so it wasn't too big a deal. I have no special audio equipment.

Using Xbox Elite, with the HDMI cable going straight to my TV.

From your questions in the previous thread:

1. Only during Samara/Morinth showdown. More specifically, cuts out right before the biotic duel, and comes back right before one of them 'wins'. This happens regardless of the choices chosen during the bar scene and at Morinth's apartment; regardless of outcome.

2. DVD

3. Stereo

4. No other games have this problem.

Regarding your new Q's:

I am using a relatively old (think I got it in 2002...but it's still like new) Phillips 3-disc shelf system CD player. (2 speakers- audio connected through a splitter coming out of my CD player and into the outputs on my TV) I am not using a receiver.

Thanks for looking into this!

Am I being silly or is there no PC investigation being carried out on this? I accidentally responded to the Xbox 360 investigation, guess I should learn to read xD But seriously, the PC version also has these sound cut out issues. My audio cuts out quite often, in both cutscenes and gameplay, but mostly gameplay :/

@Haylzorz:

We are investigating audio issues on both platforms and I have threads going in each ME2 Tech Support forum trying to gather information.

My XBox 360 is connected, by HDMI, to a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K.  I only have sound cut out issue during the Samara and Morinth showdown. After I make the choice
on who to kill the sound returns.

My Xbox 360 is ran through my PC's sound card line in to my 2.1 speaker system. However, I have tried ME2 on a standard television and the sound still cut out.

I have experienced this using both with an HDMI output and the Standard Def RCA output both connected directly into a stereo television.

Hey,

Thanks to everyone who's provided information on this thread, it's been very helpful and we're continuing to investigate the problems.

We're going to need some more information so I'm going to close this thread down and create a new one where people can respond to that request rather than pollute this one thread with multiple requests and responses.

Thanks!
