right after the cutscene at the top of the spillway, a timer comes up with 40 seconds on it. However, the timer ticks that 40 off in just over 20 actual seconds, while the vehicle seems to move at half speed. I can never get more than half-way before the timer runs out. i have tried everything I could think of to no avail. Somebody please help me so I can finish the game !!!

this is a digital download from D2D and EA support sent me here cause the rep didn't know squat !
I'm playing on a pc and had absolutely no problems until this point. I have also installed patch 1.01

Heh, I would think EA support would know this one if they bothered to have someone watching their own forums.

This usually happens because of a low frame rate. Try turning your graphics settings down to boost Frames Per Second up, hopefully you should be able to reduce the problem enough to get through.

Alternatively/in combination, someone reported they were able to get through by pointing the camera at the ground (so his comp wouldn't be as overworked trying to render so much) and simply driving blind toward the Conduit.

I'll try that, thanks. By the way, EA support didn't have anyone that knew squat and they sent me here.

I set everything as low as it will go, but I still can't even get to the bottom of the ramp.

Hmm, that's unfortunate. That includes setting the screen resolution low, right?

I'm not sure what to suggest next. Just to confirm this is a hardware-being-stressed issue, can you post your comp specs, and/or your frame rate if you have a way of monitoring it?

I have an Acer with an Athlon dual-core 4050e running at 2.1 GHz with 3 GB of Ram. and an Acer E151 17" widescreen monitor. I did set everything as low as it would go. I don't know where to find the frame rate numbers. I'm just an old gamer, not a computer whiz.

Whew, I finally got it ! I thought that I had set the monitor to the lowest res, but there was one more step. I had to set it at 800 x 600 and I finally made it through. Thanks for your help Kloreep !!

Just in case someone has a similar problem, here's a hint:

Zoom in and look at the ground. This way your hardware can render the image more quickly and the game doesn't slow down.

There will be other problems related to using garbage as a video device, certainly!

Minimum System Requirements for Mass Effect on the PC (This varied, depending on whether you looked at EA's site or Bioware's, but both contained video card errors)

Operating System:
Windows XP or Vista

Processor:
2.4+GHZ Intel or 2.0+GHZ AMD

Memory:
1 Gigabyte Ram (XP)
2 Gigabyte Ram (Vista)

Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 6 series(6800GT or better)

I've omitted the foolishness about Radeons.

The 9200 is nowhere close to the performance required.
