I think the lore version of the people with dark skin/light hair should be more of the opposite to what you do now. Don't keep the odd skin/hair combo, but keep the overall look of the character's face. Touch it up a bit (from impossible to just odd but possible) to keep the "odd" people in the game for the purists :)

Just a thought ^^

Looking forward to it.

I enjoyed the redesign for Origins, although it feels like Cailan decided to keep ugly people out of his country now.

Very well, I will place his mustache back. It will be in the Lore version. However, I will make the hair dark brown as opposed to orange.

Thank you mate however its your mod, you can do what you like, regardless you have put more effort than i have and i am grateful of your commitment to fix these errors and reduce the clownage.

Eventhough that is some really nice work you did there, is it really necessary to make every character in the game beautiful? Doesn't it get boring?

Just my opinion anyway, again: good work on the models though :)

Think I will be installing this tonight to use on my game, am not in any rush to complete it since there are always a slew of Mods that come out quite quickly that drastically improve the orignal gameplay.

One thing I gotta say Bio do well on DA, the Mods and tool sets

At the moment, I am enjoying Dragon Age: Awakening a lot! It’s a great game and definitely worth the money.  In truth, a video game is an inexpensive source of entertainment. In the grand scheme of things, $40 for many days of entertainment is very much worth it.

As an example, when you hang out with your friends,  you can easily spend 40 bucks in one night. A movie for 2 is about 20 dollars. Gas is $40. So despite the reviews that you may read from others, this game is more Dragon Age!  And it is done very well. It is the best and the closest we've seen to Dragon Age.

The problem with that comparison is that, for me, the original content has taken me for one playthrough 60 hours. So for $60.00 I received 60 hours of Dragon Age or another way of looking at it is I payed $1.00 per hour of Dragon Age (I feel I shouldn't compare it with other activities because the marginal utility and enjoyment of doing or buying something else is relative to the individual). I have read numerous times that Awakenings is roughly 20 hours and it costs $40.00.

If I do get a full 20 hour playthrough I will have spent $1.50 per hour of Dragon Age, or an increase of 50% of the original cost per hour of Dragon Age which, to me, for a game that has its engine and assets already developed seems like a too steep of an increase to pay. In fact I would have thought it would have been the complete opposite and it would have worked out to be less per hour.

Also for that price I would have thought that it would have been coupled with a substantial patch for the Xbox  360, but there is not one, so all in all I find it to be a bad value for the price charged. *end rant*

Sorry if that was long.

Bioware PLEASE hire this person!

Your staff's story writing is superb but your face morphs are dreadfully bad.
This isn't a matter of beauty to me but rather a matter of REALISTIC looking folk who fit the storyline.

I wouldn't have played dragon age for the second, third and fourth time were it not for Dragon Age Redesigned.  I am psyched that this is being implemented in Awakening.

Keep up the amazing work!

Yeah, the differences are rather striking, I agree the person is really talented that created the new morphs.

Well..I know what you're saying. But I think my enjoyment of the game is different from others because the "toolset" added more hours of gameplay for me. I know it is strange but I get more fun out of redesigning a character than playing the game itself. For example, when I played Fallout 3, I thought it was an OK game..but it was nowhere near as good as Fallout 2. But the GECK toolset kept me busy for months.

When Return To Ostagar was released, I was disappointed because there was only one NPC. I was happy with Dragon Age Awakening, because there are about 200+ NPCs and so that got me all giddy. Yeah, it’s weird. Also, although I am not a big spender, I can easily spend more than $40 in one night just on a night on the town. So it all depends on a person’s lifestyle and age. I’m 28 years old and unemployed..lol. (which is how I get the time to do this)

I felt Dragon Age Awakening was worth it because it was a great EXPANSION.

It is an expansion and it is not Dragon Age 2.

I’ve played many games with expansion packs, and although the pricetag on this is a bit more expensive, it’s a damn good expansion. I haven’t felt this way since the first day I played Dragon Age.  Believe me, I’ve played every “good user-made quest mod for Dragon Age”…and honestly..they just don’t match up. Until Dragon Age 2 is released, I will definitely keep my eye out on an expansions that are created (after reading reviews and feedback)

Ok, I feel that it is necessary to answer this question as it has been prevalent as of late and it is a huge misunderstanding.

First of all, Bioware actually did an excellent job with most of their designs.

In Dragon Age Awakening, there are approximately 200+ new characters.

What I have redesigned only comes down to only about 50 characters.

In other words, my project isn't focused on making everyone attractive. I only changed 50 people that I personally found disorienting and distracting to my enjoyment of the game.

Please view these original designs as comparison:

Original designs

Original design 2

Try walking up to a noble and zoom in on his or her face. You can do this by standing behind him/her and holding your right mouse to zoom in on the face.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not making a recreation of "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. Rather, I am making slight adjustments to the faces that I found disoritenting. Also, the 'Lore' version will not contain attractive faces but have more proportionate faces but with the original skin tone, hair tone, etc.

Yes plz.

Can't wait for Valenna's mod. When I first saw her I was like, "oh...". hahaha. Same for Leliana's and to a slightly lesser extent, Morrigan's. It seems whoever designs them has a habit of making faces look swollen and puckered. I laughed when Leliana's song came on because she looked so funny. :\\

There are some faces that work however, like Justice and that Lady at Vigil's Keep, the one who looks like a hawk, forgot her name. I am open to alternatives though. Fantastic work, Petehog. :D

Keenan, the dying warrior

I made this change because I felt that Keenan looked a bit "clean" for a  dying person. I actually had to go through and make my own blood  textures to add it on him.

I know I'm probably asking for too much but would it be possible to include 1 blank preset-face for each race and gender as an optional file for your mod?

If I tried to manually adapt the face of my character to your redesign it would most-likely end up in a big mess and I'm certain many others would really appreciate it as well.

I actually like the Smugglers tattoo.

Is it in the actual game, cause I have never seen it?

You'd have to do it from the Toolset.

Ha ha..your sig contains some spoilers for folks who haven't played Awakening or who are playing Dragon Age: Origins.

Although..those were some of my favorite characters. Ha ha. Daveth, Ser Gilmore and Gorim were awesome too.

Well this isn't the best forum to be if you want to avoid spoilers anyway.
You could pretty much go anywhere here and still see some spoilers that are way worse than my sig.

Although I admit that i'm not helping though..............:P

But yeah, the Smuggler leaders tattoo is pretty cool.
I play on the ps3, so mods are pretty much useless for me.......................

@VirusCat

I'm sort of stuck because I need to know Valenna's original tattoo so that I can do a lore version.. I've been asking everywhere and I can't find it.

@Mass Fraud

You should still remove that sig out of courtesy for folks who haven't played Awakening yet or haven't reached at the epilogue of DA.

I think Bioware should use you for design.

Is it just me or do Ser Tamara and Kristoff's wife (Aura) look the same?

Anyway love the redesign. I am looking forward to it.

In the game, I thought so too.

I also redesigned Aura as well. I just didn't post a picture because I got pretty tired of the "You're making only supermodels" thread. Ha ha. But she'll be in there.

Wow! This makes me wish I had a computer capable of running the PC version...
It just looks so much better. It also makes the original Vanilla game look so much uglier. How is it a fan of the game is able to do a much better job designing characters then a paid and working staff member from Bioware?
It boggles the mind!
