Torpedo82,

I can confirm blank codex entries (for imported character), Sigrun and Velanna's quest I don't know how to trigger so I can't tell, approval bug with Sigrun is here and blight orphans epilogue won't show if you completed all their quests.

thx for telling me about the blight orphans epilogue and yeah i meant that velanna's companion quest doesn't trigger (spent 8 hours trying to trigger itImage IPB) and also about sigrun's companion quest being unable to start since starting law and order or smuggler's run makes the npc u need to talk to disappear.

OK...I just recently started a new Awakening file in an attempt to get Velanna's quest as well as do all the quests I missed or messed up on in my previous playthroughs. During this game, in which I still did not get Velanna's side quest, I found out something that may help explain why there is so much trouble revolving around her companion quest. Basically, for some reason, the game allows you to reach maximum approval with Velanna without doing her companion quest. And no, I don't mean the instant +100 approval glitch caused by doing the Blight Orphans quests. I got her and simply gave her gifts and got her approval in conversations and I got her to 100 approval and received the bonus (massive willpower) for doing so. However, when I beat the game and got the epilogue, it treated her as if she was never on friendly status with me, giving me the ending where she just leaves the order to search for her sister.

I'm not sure why this bug is there, but I'm almost positive that it has something to do with the trouble triggering Velanna's quest. I believe that it blocks the encounter by basically telling the game that you already met the requirements to be able to achieve max approval, but at the same time it does not trigger the epilogues and such that should come from being on friendly status with her.

I really hope Bioware can patch this, because it's really annoying.

Maybe after this last DLC we'll get a patch.....nope, DA2 is on the way. Maybe after DA2 they'll patch it.....nope, definitely going to be a ton of DLC for DA2 I bet....maybe when hell freezes over. I bet if they could find a way for us to buy the patch it'd already be done. Biowares lack of support is an embarassment to gaming.

DONT BUY DA2 IF YOU REALLY WANT THEM TO GET THE MESSAGE.

any way to convert the PC patches i've found online over to the PS3? i've found patches to get the rest of the black blade gear to drop when and wear its supposed to but for some reason the ps3 is getting overlooked when it comes to fixing errors... but i noticed exploitable bugs got fixed with a quickness like the infinite cash/exp loop in lothering for making traps

Has there been no progress or insights into making Velanna's Exile actually happen, or is this just a very selective random encounter? I had no trouble getting it prior to downloading Witch Hunt, but now it never happens no matter what I do.

I cam't play Dragon Age Origins Awakening because before starting the game it asks for the DAO cd, to install its patch. But even after installing patches 1.05 and 1.06 nothing chances: it still asks for the first game CD. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone knows how to solve it?

I bought the Awakening DLC off PSN and I have tried many times to install but, everytime I do the PS3 doesn't register that it has been installed!
Does anyone have any suggestions? (I live in the European region btw)

Will the following bugs be fixed:

1. Sentinel Armour set appearance bug (with Warden's Keep DLC installed and the Awakening expansion pack, the Sentinel armour set appears as the Warden Commander set from Warden's Keep.)

2. Vigilance Sword appearance bug (same as above - appears as Starfang from Warden's Keep (DLC)

3. When completing the 3 main quests, the last NPC character discovered that has a follow up "Joining Ritual" quest, the quest can not be completed. The End Game is forced when speaking to Varel in the Vigil's Keep Throne Room, the option to proceed with The Joining for Velanna or Sigrun should appear, but does not, instead you are forced to speak with the nobles which triggers the Siege of Vigil's Keep Quest, and there is no going back to complete the joing ritual. The only way around this is to do the Blackmarsh quest last, since Justice does not require a joining. But this is not the preferred order, since the above mentioned Sentinel Armour Set is acquired from The Blackmarsh, it is often preferable to complete Blackmarsh first to the get the most use out of this Armour set.

These to me are the 3 most serious bugs which affect the enjoyment of Awakening. But 12 months have passed without a fix, I know you're busy developing Dragon Age II, but don't forget where it all began, and the success of Dragon Age II will no doubt hinge on the ability to deliver a quality experience to those of us that have enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins and DLC, but have been disappointed by the Quality Control that has been implemented by Bioware.

A response would be appreciated,

Thanks.

I think on the Sentinel Armor and Vigilance it was speculated that they can't patch it on the XBOX as it would exceed the size Microsoft allows.      Some XBOX's don't have hard drives and have a memory size limit for patches.  It was also speculated that they have a contract that requires them to patch PS3 and XBOX equally.   So they can't patch this on PS3, because XBOX's without a hard drive can't handle the patch.

I do not know if this is true or not?     This bug REALLY annoys me, and I wish they would patch it for PS3 at least.

I also wish they would make the Collector editions items and other DLC from pre-order functional in Awakening as well....

I was thinking of buying Awakening from the Playstation Store just before DA2 comes out. Are the bugs really serious or can you complete the game without any issue?

Thanks for the response, that is quite disappointing if true.  But I do believe it, 12 months is ample time to have fixed this issue.

You can play awakening to completion fine without issue.  But if you are bothered by the cosmetic issues with the Sentinel Armour and Vigilance sword, then:
  • Uninstall all Dragon Age game data
  • Reinstall all except Warden's Keep
  • Do this BEFORE importing a character from Origins.
As for the Joining Quests for companions, do Blackmarsh last, but you will not get Sentinel Armour until late in the game, which kinda sucks.

You can get the Ultimate Edition for under £20, I paid £17 on Amazon.

Good Gaming

Sorry can't be much help to you, my copy of Awakening is on the Ultimate Edition disc and installs fine.

The only thing I would suggest is deleting the game data and re-downloading the Awakening Pack from PSN store, and reinstalling the game data plus awakening.

If that doesn't correct the issue, try EA technical support here: support.ea.com/app/home/showhome/true

Good luck

I have Dragon Age Ultimate edition for the ps3 and I've just started playing awakening and there is a problem with the sound effects of the swords, magic and footsteps, (sometimes item menus) they just go silent but the music is still there =/ I've just noticed the codex missing too which I read in here. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Does anyone know?

Not that I'm aware of. Could save, restart your ps3, and try again. That's about it. I've had that bug once or twice. Randomly pops up.

So after spending a couple hours perusing this particular forum. i see that Bioware has no intention of fixing the Awakening bugs. now im no game programmer. but is it REALLY that difficult to have a couple dudes sit down and fix a couple cosmetic bugs here and there? all im asking is that my Human Arcane Warrior can wield Vigilance and wear the Sentinel armor set without it looking like the Starfang and Warden Commander plate. (mind you, being an AW im generally all glowy, translucent, and yellow, so you cant see much anyway). However i've had Awakening since its release, the actual disc version no less. its been what? a year since its release? im really only doing this play through so i can upload data from Origins & Awakening when i start over in DA2. at which point Origins may just collect dust on my shelf for a few months. but if this is the kind of slack-jaw attitude they have with their DLC and expansions. it REALLY hampers my enthusiasm on continuing to buy these things. am i going to expect the same level of effort when the DA2 DLC comes out?
I know i may not touch Origins & Awakening for a while after this, so its not a HUGE deal. but im playing along, reliving the story after a few months off the game. back into it. Origins was the same wonderful story i remember. the DLC tied in nicely and gave me some nice little bonuses. (Alistar in the Kings Armor & Me in the Commanders armor just feels so right) and as i come along to Awakening. enjoying that Story as well. everything is fine and dandy. work hard to get my Sword and armor and.... its still this ugly crap? 12 months later and its STILL broken? in the 3 seconds it took wade to make my Sword i went from "lets get as much out of this story as we can!" to "lets just hurry up and get this over with..."

I'm stuck , I have all of wade's (exotic materials for the heartwoods item "catgut" "oil" "flawless ruby" ) iron ore ect. The conversation doesn't continue. He asked me to find it for him but won't let me give it to him.  This BLOWS. I've spend a day trying different things and I'm finally convinced the the game is busted. Doe's one get their money back for the all the time spent and wasted on software clearly untested for quality assurance.Image IPB.

Its ashame, I Keep kicking myself for not reading the forums before buying: but I enjoyed Mass Effect so much I assumed (thats right never assume) that anything bioware would currently be working on would be of similar quality.  Dam if it was just half as good as Mass Effect 1&2 I'd be in my happy game place.
