So I three companions now: Anders, Nathaniel and Oghren.
Let's take Anders as an example. He was level 23 when he joined me, and he had *no* spells learned whatsoever. And no skills. When he levels up, I can select a new spell just fine, but a level 24 mage that only knows Arcane Bolt... Yeah. I don't need to finish that sentence. Then there's a similar issue with skills: when my companions get a skill point, I can't spend it. The skill screen in the level up menu just shows up blank, with no selectable skills. Reloading doesn't work.
Hmmm, I suddenly remember I have the No Follower Autolevel mod. Maybe that causes it. I haven't checked for a new, Awakening compatible version. But either way, is this a known problem or is it likely that it is caused by the mod? I'll check it out straight away and will report my findings, but in the meantime feel free if you have/had the same problem and found a different solution.
Awakening skill/talent/spell issue (may contain a small, early spoiler)

Alright. It's indeed the No Follower Autolevel mod. And neither deactivating the mod and reloading nor using a tome to respec afterwards helps. Back to square one for me.

I'm having the same problem. I even took everything off my computer, then re-installed Dragon Age Origins and Awakening (no mods or dlc). It didn't help. Any ideas?

I had this too. Deactivating the mod and creating a new save game is necessary (re-importing your character into Awakening). I have to start the entire Keep over now

There's an issue that we are watching for, which can prevent you from buying skills/talents/spells, etc. unless you also spend some attribute points. If you are able to play like this for a level until you have attribute points to spend, you might see if you can buy skills and spells and whatnot then.
Of course, Anders with only Arcane Bolt sounds odd, so we'll make note of and take a look at that one.

Thank you Victor Wachter. It is nice to know Bioware is actively pursuing this problem.

No skills/spells problem:
Well, thanks to some help from other players, I've solved my problem with Oghren and Anders not having any skills and Anders not having spells.
Someone suggested I turnoff the "no auto level mod", but that didn't seem to fix it. After doing that, I tried importing my character again (starting over).
Doing both steps fixed it. Thanks again for the help.

I already said that that caused the problem in my second post.
Anyway, thanks to BioWare for looking into a solution. Until then, I guess I'll just have to cope with Oghren as a two-hander in Origins.

I'm on the 360, so obviously no mods. My anders only started with like 7 spells at level 18. Seriously, come on. 7 spells and 5 points to spend. Should have been 12 points, at least, for this lvl Mage.
