When I start the game it crashes after few minutes. Any advise doesn't appear, just only return on desktop. It doesn't happen with DA:O, but only after the installation of the patch 1.03 and DA:OA. I've Windows 7 64 bit.

There are any news about this damned patch?

I'm also having some crashing issues. My crashes usually happen at bigger fights, when the battle is almost done.. boom.. I get "Dragon Age has stopped responding". So, I reload the game, same place and boom.. happens again. I rebooted after this happened the first time and it seemed to help for awhile, and now it's doing it again. My PC (specs and such) are fine, I just don't know what the problem is with this game :(

I also have all patches installed and never had problems with DA:O.. at all.

Darn, same problem now. I can't get past the 2nd fight with the barroness, because it constantly crashes when she's down to 75% health!

Replaying every boss battle several times since the game just crashes over and over is really cool.

I never crashed in the first few hours of playing, then once I got to the woods and up the hill to speak with the elven mage, it crashes when she's trying to speak, always. I can't get past that part. The sound usually cuts out strangely by making a buzzing noise then my whole pc freezes. I'm then forced to restart.

Specs:

Win7 64-bit

Phenom 9850 2.5GHz quad core

6GB 800MHz Ram

2x ATI radeon HD 3870 512mb GDDR4 video cards (running in CFX)

No idea what the problem is, can anyone help?

Same here crash, I dunno if it is awakening or 1.3 that did it... It happens almost systematically if the fight is long.

I got the same problem.
Crashed in Awakening and could go and restart my pc. Looked almost like a power down.
Got and 8800GT, 3GhZ DualCore, 2048Ram and windows 7 running.
Please get this fixed. I don't want to experience this stuff again right in the middle of the final fight of Awakening.

Mine have only happened during Dragon fights. Half the time it happens when I am about 2 hits from killing the dragon and it will crash. Very frustrating.

DA:O never crashed in several hundreds of play hours (with different chars of course).

In Awakening things have changed:

I could finish my first run with an imported sword&board fighter and had just a few crashes.

The same applies to my second run with an imported rogue.

But my third approach with an imported mage is just ridiculous: During the ealry game with two mages (me and Anders) the game crashes almost during EVERY fight. In the forest where we meet the elf mage that means CTD every few minutes, in other words: unplayable.

My guess: Somehow the visual effects from spells are causing the crashes above all.

E.g. walking bomb casted by me and Anders on two different targets, which explode (nearly) simultanously ==> 99% CTD

The same in DA:O ==> ZERO problems.

Yes I suspect it is some particle effect of some spells that causes the crash. In my case the Paralysis Explosion combo (Glyph of Paralysis + Repulsion) systematically causes CTD if any targets are affected. This happens while playing regular DA:O content with 1.03. I have 80+ hours played pre 1.03 with no problem.

Started crashing earlier this evening.
win 7 x64. plenty of memory for vid and ram.

Happening during fights, but not every fight, and then it will crash to desktop.
Seems to be random, and it only started yesterday.

If that is the case, then it's a second CTD bug.  My first crashes occurred immediately after zoning into Ostagar following the cut scene with Morrigan's mother - no spellcasting in sight, no combat.

Hi everyone, same problem... The Game is crashing during fights. Some of them.
After Install Origins, (without any patch)  no problem, i could play like a geek for hour and hour.
But problems had begun after the first or the second patch, i just can't remember wich one. I bought Awakening 3 days ago, same problem.
So i don't  think that the game is crashing because of the Add-on.

Running on Windows 7, Intel core  2 Quad Cpu 2.00Ghz, 4GB Memory Ram,  Nvidia Geforce GT 240M
My drivers are updated since 3 month, i've updated nvidia Physx Yesterday.
Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Operation Flashpoint, Borderland, Risen, Divinity 2, not a single crash, everything 's okay.
I've tryed to set lower settings for Dragon age, no Antialiasing, no Vsync, no special effects, but the problem is still remaining.

So i don't think that chrash is relative to Computer Config or Dragon age settings, or Awakening,
I really think that the updates are the problem. Maybe Windows 7 compatibility.
Anyway, for you and me, the game is still crashing during fight and it really ****** me off ! Image IPB

Waiting for an update ? Should we ask Bioware ? Thanks

It's certainly not a windows 7 compatibility issue. I'm still running Vista Ultimate 32 bit and have the CTD-problem mostly - as reported above - when spells like mana clash or walking bomb are cast (the latter, when the target explodes).

Strange enough, these crashes are not reproducible, because when I start the game again and do exactly the same it mostly works.

It seems, that Bioware changed their communictiaons politics quite a bit. In former times - on old Bio-boards - we would have some feedback of a moderator, a QA-guy or a dev since days.

Cant get the final battle over, always CTD somewhere in the middle of the fight. Just pointless... Think it has something to do with the visual effects. I have XP sp2.

Awakening has just crashed for me as i was leaving the throne room and now i cant use the battlemage specialisation. i bought and used it before the crash but now its button is greyed out and its not for sale from cera. :( I probably should have saved, anyone know any cheats to get it back?

EDIT: Spoke to support who say game is not supported for win7 64, don't see how that would matter given origins never crashes.

EDIT: Awakening is now crashing when i alt-tab. :( also has anyone else noticed that there are no health bars for lieutenants/bosses.

Is this for real?? As far as i'm concern, the game did not stipulate whether it is supported on 32 or 64bit, just windows 7 on the back of the game.

I'm really regretting getting this game now.:pinched:

It is like paying money to break the game.

Im having the same problem. Game crashes about every 10 minutes. Didnt have any problems with dragon age origins but i had a vista 32 then. Now im using win7 64 and origins and awakening are both crashing constantly (especially in big battles). Probably is a win7 issue (for me at least) but i dont understand why bioware would make a game that doesnt support win7 64.

I have windows 7 on a brand new alienware laptop and the game worked great until I got a certain point early in awakening. Now it doesn't crash, but runs so damn slow - no matter what save I load or if I have awakening installed. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and tried every other thing...

On my Windows 7 64 bit machine the expansion actually locks the system randomly, but predictably - requiring a cold boot. A crash to desktop would be welcomed! I had no problem getting through Dragon Age, but it seems like I'll never be able to play through the expansion.

Mine seem a bit more random but Im getting crashes and lockups too. I was getting this before the patch and nothing seems to have changed since installing it.

I have to ctrl/alt/del and open up the task manager to close it and restart. Its starting to become a bit of a pain now.

I've had the same problem a number of times today-- I've been trying to kill the dragon, and each time I'm within a blow or two, I get a crash to the desktop. Really frustrating, since this is one of the most annoying battles I've fought in Dragon Age.  Seriously,  I'd do a personal blood sacrifice to get through it...
