So... I got to the part with the landsmeet. My character is a female elf, so I know he won't make me his queen. But after he killed Loghain and it was decided he would be king, he came to me and broke up with me, and I couldn't convince him not to.
What I want to know is if I can either: do the landsmeet dialogue, etc. differently, if he'll get back together with me later, if I have to not let him be king, or whatever else it may be. I want to end up with him at the end, if I can. I saved my game before the landsmeet, so I can replay it.

If you want him to stay on with you, he has to be hardened. If you've already done his personal quest, you're SOL there. The only way to keep on with him is to not make him king. Unhardened Alistair puts duty before himself; hardened Alistair is willing to flout the rules.

He is hardened with the max approval, which is why I didn't think he would leave me. So I have to not make him king to keep him? That's what I shall do then. Thank you.

I believe I read that you must select the "You are King...nobody can make you do what you don't want to do." option to remain in the relationship. I never tried it myself for my character wouldn't want to stay in that sort of relationship...the jerk. lol

You can make him king, and stay in the relationship. As k said, when he tries to break up with you, select the option that says something like "you're the king, you can do what you want" then the option that says "Being king isn't a punishment, Alistair" and viola, you're his mistress.

Edit to note for others: For this to work, he MUST be hardened through is personal quest, otherwise, Alistair will not compromise his morals, his future marriage or fairness to you to keep you on.

I've also selected the phrase "You're king you can do whatever you want" if I remember correctly. Again he has to be hardened. I played my mage elf in Awakening and he was still in a relationship with her.

You could make him king but that would be a punishment for him and your elf: He
would not want to be king and he would break up the relationship afterwards.

I assume your elf romanced him.

Yes, I did not realizing at first. I did not want to harden him, I think it is sort of cute the way he is. I worded my question wrong. I do not want him to be king, if I worked this hard on the romance I want to keep it. Can I make Anora Queen and still get Alistair (not harden) to sleep with Morigan to save him in the end?

How do you harden him on his person quest? I always wondered that. I know I've babied him since the beginning, even when I wanted to stab him.

When he talks to you right after leaving his sister's house, pick the 'everyone is out for themselves' option. When you next talk to him, so long as you didn't tell you didn't mean it that way, he becomes permanently hardened.

Yes you can make Anora queen instead even though I don't like her, and I didn't harden him either. that's what I did when my elf was in a relationship with him. I didn't want her to be his bit on the side. And I had Al sleep with Morrigan I preferred that ending for my elf, it seemed happier.

His personality doesn't change, he just speaks up for himself more.  When hardened he will want to be king, and is willing to keep a mistress if he is made king, that's all really.  Still very, very cute.

You can get "Soft" Alistair to sleep with Morrigan, even if you have already slept with him first?

I think so but it will be harder if you can.  I don't know I always harden him and am too wimpy to not take the DR on my girls so HE has to be the one to do it.

What do you mean by "DR". I have "Soft" Allistair at max approval and we have already slept together, do I need my cunning up to presuade him to sleep with Morrigan?

DR is the "Dark Ritual" the Morrigan's baby epilogue title.  I would definitely suggest maxing out coersion and having cunning up too since its based off those ability/stat.  According to my walkthrough it is possible to convince unchanged Alistair to do the DR with Morrigan it is just harder.  Stick to responses like "Do you trust me?" and the guide suggests NOT mentioning the child (though hardened Alistair's reaction since I can't lie to that one is hilarious). Also not to play up his distrust of Morrigan.  Choose responses like "What if I told you we didn't have to die tomorrow" etc.

If you want to see him nuts not hardened then make him master in coercion and around 23 in cunning. You need to be NHF and 100 love when you want him to do Morrigan tell him the truth and do other talk instead of just saying just do it. He really turns it on and says NO and then goes to sleep. I though okay so fine I will kill the archdeamon and die. But... on the roof he says something like Here you thought I would even give you a choice then grabs the sword and well you know the rest.
