I'm more miffed that her death was pointless and silly then her dying. The red shirt comparison doesn't even compair cause a red shirt at least died in interesting ways, where as Mhairi just droped on the floor and died.
I'd be fine if she died in battle before she even got to the joining, fending off some guesome terror that poped outa that guys blood (the guy she was kneeling over that said there is something in his blood that hurts) *which of course was never explained*
aint that the taint?

When he said there was something in his blood, I was expecting him to turn into an abomination or something which woulda been way cooler hehe.

Ok this has to stop now with all these threads, kind of looks stupid now...
Ya, my "Justice for Mhairi" thread is starting to stale with all these new threads lol. Though I like the flair in mine better.
Though seriously, yes most of us regret her loss. But as David Gaider responded to the question below.
David Gaider wrote...
Quite the opposite, actually. Mhairi was never intended to be a full companion, and for a while she was just "Lady Redshirt", the warrior that accompanied you briefly to make sure you had some help at the very beginning of the game. Later we filled her out with a bit more personality and obfuscated the fact that she was intended to die in the Joining -- why? Because if we hadn't there would have been just as many people going "Oh, I KNEW she was intended to die all along! How lame!"Soapy wrote...
Mhairi is in a few previews, and it almost seems like shes apart of the game later on. Was her death last minute?
Her voice actress did a great job, though. I wouldn't have minded seeing her as a full companion. That said, we promised you six companions and that's what you got -- she's the "seventh" as well as the odd man out, so to speak. Sorry some people were disappointed, but it's nice to see they were surprised.
But I'll join the society for the heck of it.
Also, obfuscated definition.
ob·fus·cate
–verb (used with object),-cat·ed, -cat·ing.
1.
to confuse, bewilder, or stupefy.
2.
to make obscure or unclear: to obfuscate a problem with extraneous information.
3.
to darken.

I was miffed about it for two reasons. First and foremost, I was expecting more character development because of the companion page that was wrote. Second, it left me without a tank and Oghren is setup mostly for two handers which isn't surprising considering the main game.
Respec.

i had oghren main tank half of the game on nightmare (started on hard, till it got 2 easy lol) with a 2hd. no probs.
Its just not Oghren if he isnt using a weapon bigger than himself. The ladies like overkill... Or so he would have you think.

Also, I realized that the weapon on the back of the Awakening box is the dagger "Velvets Voice". Same model and everything - you want proof? Equip in offhand and talk to mistress Woolsey and the scene will show it slung over your shoulder. Just throwing that out there...

oghren is not family man, he is one mean drunk darkspawn killing machine. I was also to play with no humans in my group for the first time, haha. I hate nobles, I wish there would be a commoner or chasind origin.
They tried a farmer origin while the game was in the works, was apparently too boring for the developers likeing. Either way, I am in full support of the society. If the people working on Gears of War could add in that one DLC that let you sneak into a Locust Compound rather than barge in then I think that a dlc adding Mhairi would not be too far fetched. If anything, I'm sure Bioware is aware that people would buy it.
Sorry for the out of the blue Gears of War metaphor, but you can draw so many parralels between DAO and GOW. Atleast in GOW when they killed people off it struck the right chord.
Gears of War topic:
My bet is that the next Carmine to Join Delta Squad is the last two's sister, any takers? Hot.

I actually had oghren tank the whole game. Gave him high dex, and he was good to go. no probs on nightmare, I was surprise tbh. He does decent dmg as well.
Justice is a beast, I actually had to become the tank since I recruited Justice after Valeena.
I was actually pissed when they killed her off until I found out about Justice. To be honest I dont really like the characters in Awakening as much as Origins. And it was hilarious that the only person to go through the joining and not pass out was Oghren, lol.

If player is a mage -> Anders dies in the joining.
If player is a warrior -> Mihari dies in the joining.
Gruesome beginning over with at the start with the liability of the joining and re-playability exists to get to know one other character from all three class roles.
If you're going to submit a demand at least have a plausible solution in mind

To be honest, I really think she had a wonderful voice actress, though. I miss whoever that was even more. I just liked hearing her speak. The line when she says "No, I can help you, I'll prove it!" was so eager and cute. That one line and the way it was said was the only thing that made me feel the slightest bit of emotional impact once she was gone. Alas...

@ HallowedWarden : What has been done before is only relevant in the broad-sense of precedence. Because something has yet to be done is in itself irrelevant to whether it can be done. BioWare DLC precedence is that they are insinuated within the same chronological time period. So I believe that a BioWare DLC could expand and modify Mhairi both during the first chapter and after.
@ Shipwr3k : Thank you for your sharing your thoughtful and richly illustrated opinion. Your point to posting in this thread is? besides initial maybe being a troll at first. Though thank you for sharing your time in raising awareness of this thread through your participation in the discussion with others.
@ AuraofMana : I believe you failed to read the intention of the O.P. Which has been stated as a thread for people who agree, versus a 'poll'.
@ SirJoeofthePub : I completely agree that the character as illustrated in the game is a complete redshirt to the joining ritual. And yet she was billed as a companion, which is the basis for the emotional outburst. However, with a little vision and positive thinking even a redshirt can grow to something more.
@ Sonofalich : All who would see the resurrection of Mhairi are welcome within our group regardless of reason.
@ Venatio : Thank you for sharing your support and quoting David Gaider's reply. Once I hit stage 5 I realized the truth in his words and agree she is a complete redshirt. Yet with some vision and positive thinking we hope BioWare gives us more.
@ Sardonii : Thank you for sharing your vision and I completely agree. I think I shall incorporate your idea into the O.P. and the quote it in the group.
@ Reyno411 : I completely agree, the voice actress was bodaciously awesome and may be part of the reason for hoping to inspire BioWare to help her grow into so much more. This is the primary focus for the group, so I hope you will join us.

They killed the 'tank' for anyone who wasn't a warrior class. Again = lame.
The whole process was meant to shock or sadden us, but it only served to anger anyone who needed a tank in their party.
If they really wanted to shock us, kill half the people who try to join and make it random. That way, it's unpredictable and has a serious impact on your game every time you play.
I wouldn't mind seeing an Expansion or Mod, where the player deals with Mhairi death, talks to her family, or whatever, but I'm pretty confident it will be a player made module.
Bioware has their hands full trying to make a DA 2 that isn't going to ****** us all off.
