It took a company like Blizzard a long time to finally get a movie started. I think it generally is a good idea but it also should not be rushed.

Ehh, yeah video game movies never turn out well. Granted, this game has the story and setting to make a good movie, but doubt any one could pull it off.



I'm waiting for the Song of Fire and Ice series on HBO. Based on perhaps my favorite books so I'll settle for that.

No, no, no, NO!!!! Making movies about books and games where you have choice just makes the choice LAME!! We're sort of making our own story via playing the game, I don't want someone to tell me how it happened after I did it my own way.

the "ashes" trailer confirmed to me that an animated Dragon age universe based movie really could succeed, if done in-house. (i don't trust pixar or Uwe Boll)

I don't think they would make a *good* DA:O movie,  based on the video game movie subgenre's record. But I just wouldn't go see it, barring amazing reviews. i mean, I suppose I'm weakly anti-DA:O movie because I'd like to see fewer awful movies released overall.

I think any film DA:O would be animated and released direct-to-video or to cable channels. Cheaper to do, and the dedicated audience will snap up copies anyway. It's what went down with Dead Space: Downfall (color me surprised that no one has done a YoutTube mashup of it with the famous ranting and doomed Hitler scene from Downfall ).

Making an RPG game into a film is really hard too, cause the main character in the game can be played in a hundred different ways, which for me, is one of the main pulls of the game, while the character in a film could only take one path.

A movie set in the DA:O world though, with a different plotline (maybe the origin of the Darkspawn in more depth?) might be cool, if it was done right.

They could always base the DA movie in some other time/place. The first Blight perhaps? The Fall of Tevinter? Adventures in the Fade (pre-Humanity)?

while it may be easy to appease fans of Dragon Age Origins by making a fully animated DAO movie, it will not be predictably successful in getting the money in. When a movie based on a game releases, the majority of people watching those films tend to be: fans of the game/genre; fans of the cast.



It's also unlikely that a movie based on BioWare will be made by BioWare. BioWare's primary specialization is developing games, the most it'd do is give approval to whoever making the movie concerning the intellectual property's cannon lore/background.

BioWare didn't make Sacred Ashes, Blur did. The action was fine for the most part, but they messed up the mouths to the point where it's painful to watch.

I'd hate to see a live-action movie or an animated movie of DA:O, to be honest. The entire point of this game is to open up a whole new world. There's no way a movie could pull that off in a couple hours. A Cable TV show, perhaps, but that'd be a nightmare to produce and if it wasn't perfect, all the fans would revolt and apart from the fans, nobody else would be interested. So no, I don't think it's a good idea at all. MAYBE 8 years from now something like Darthnemesis suggested could work. Maybe.

The Dead Space prequal animated movie was rather good imo. This is bioware we're talking about, as long as they retained the bioware-ism in the DA movie, I'm sure it would be epic.

As great as a DA movie would probably be I have to try and ignore the knee jerk reaction that almost all game-movies have been terrible. (Except Silent Hill I kinda liked that one ^^)

That said it dosn't mean the cant try!!

they don't even have to name it after dragon age in the first place, or even base it on the rules. they could tell the story, as mentioned before, of the first blight. this would make an epic action movie.

movies don't have to follow rpg rules, that would really make it suck, of course the "a mage cast spells and a warrior swings a sword stuff" but the "1 hit a second" would tear the film apart.

if you break it down to the basics and keep true to the lore and craft a tale of magnifisense, i really believe they could make a good one. just look at their "Ashes trailer", make a movie in that approach would have a fair chance of success.

i'm not really interested in a movie, but if they go for it, atleast get it dumbed down to the same level of lore and rules as "the lord of the rings" movies, that way anyone can follow it and you wouldn't need to know the books to keep up. if a movie was made i'd see it, but it's not a nessecity

story should be like the human female noble and falls in luv with alistair:D nd picks up from there:) it wud be good tho if u think about it.. its more sad coz like theyr the only 2 grey wardens left.. hes son of a king .. one of them has to die in the end unless u accept morrigans evil ritual *ughHH* dunno but it would be epic
