Two or so hours into the game, here are some positive stuff for the expansion that seems to be getting over the top flak...

1. New skills, talents, and spells.

 2. New characters are awesome.

 3. Some of the new equipment is awesome.

 4. Runed armour!

5. Stamina regenerating potions.

6. Dialogue is as funny as ever!

7. The keep!

I was just about to post asking about what the positive things were in Awakening. There are SOOOOO many negative posts out there.

Runed Armor?? Why they didn't do this in DA:O I don't understand as it seemed like a given. I'm happy to hear its in the expansion.

I've only played about 3 hours of it but I love the surprise they threw in right at the beginning.

Which surprise? I've played about 13 hours so if it is in the beginning you shouldn't spoil anything for me.

And I'm glad to see this thread up - I get sick of seeing nothing but negative commentary. So far the game as been really good ... there are a few things I would have liked to see done differently, but I am not disappointed with the purchase for all that.

I think for every legitimate thing people have ****ed about something good has been added. I think it hardly needs to be said, but just to offset all those people who claim to be leaving - Bioware has kept me as a customer.

Personally, I saw it coming from a mile away. Then again, I didn't follow the advertising or previews leading up to release at all, so I didn't know who the hell she was. But as soon as she introduced herself, I thought 'redshirt'. I didn't even want to give her equipment because I was afraid I would just lose it. I was pretty surprised to come on here and see that she had been advertised as a companion, she really didn't have that vibe in game to me. Even without expectations though, I didn't think the begginning of the game was handled very well... somehow it managed to seem both rushed and uneventful at the same time. Luckily the game has picked up since then.

Yar I like it to, greatly enjoying my purchase.

Just let the forums die down a bit, right now its just the vocal minority angry that games cost money and they can't bone Alistair throwing a huge tantrum, but it should die down over the next few days.

I really enjoyed Nathaniel Howe. At first he hated me as I got further in I began to understand his reasonings and after he met up with his sister he realized how evil his father was and was determined to redeem the Howe name.

Also Anders and his story about his cat back at the tower. Poor Mr. Wiggums.

I dunno, Mr. Wiggums took out three Templars, I'd say he deserves a statue or something. What is it with demons infesting cats? Never mind, if you wanted an example of a sinful animal I guess the cat would be the one ... which is why I love them so much!

And Mhairi, didn't surprise me ... especially after she told me how much she wanted to be a Warden ... no one who wants this life ever lives through the Joining ... maybe that says something about the kind of people it is meant to weed out.

I agree. It's especially interesting when you're playing a Cousland and he hates you doubly at the beginning. I just got his apology for trying to kill me, which was rather lacking from pretty much everyone else who has tried.

You know... I think I might be the only person that didn't mind Mhairi dying. I personally didn't care much for her, but it was obvious from the get go that she was going to die. Just got that wierd vibe from her....

I seem to be among a very few who actually preferred the pacing of Awakening. It seemed much more important to get things done quickly, and I understood just how many lives I was responsible for. I was not particularly fond of Mhairi, and I thought her dying with the joining was a great twist. Even playing a Cousland, I was surprised at how much I related to Nathaniel, and what a great character he was. I loved the expansion.

One major positive I would like to give is that Awakening is more serious and held together story wise than Origins was. And the fact that we don't have a major section like the Circle Tower Fade Area is a blessing in and of itself, of course.

While I prefer the Origins campaign and story, I definitely think Awakenings is a sold expansion pack on its own. The characters are super enjoyable, and I absolutely loved Anders and Nathaniel in particular. I do wish we'd seen a bit more carryover of other choices, but at least the epilogue acknowledged your romance from the first game. And honestly, the end game choice was one of the hardest I've ever had to make. So great job, all around.

As some people would say cat's are half in our world and half out.  They can see beyond our world so it makes it easier to posses them.

Edit:  Apologies to jump off topic like that lol.
