Sad So far all I do is run around a castle and kill a few rats.  All this reading question and answering sux.

I thought this game had meat and potatoes,  Not a personality test.. Anoter thing is you can't add your own avatar and the forums are really not organized.  They want everyone to be the same.

Not happy with this game after I polled for the best choice of games out now..

If reading is such a chore for you, perhaps this just isn't the kind of game you should be playing. I'm sure there are more entertaining games out there that could help hold your interest, but coming on this board and claiming its boring after playing the game for half an hour isn't the best position to be in when making a critical statement.

What kind of game did you think this would be, anyway?

Well all the trailer put on that it's a hack and slash game. Not a bunch of boring read and move answer, read and move answer, Geez.. what a waste of programing.. Looks like I won't be buying Mass Effects 2 after this..

Ever hear of RESEARCH? Its a thing a smart person (or a person who cares) would do before buying anything.

bioware is known for their brainless hack 'n slash game carrier oO
see, that's all because of the gore extensive trailers attracting the wrong people :D

It has never been stated anywhere that Dragon Age would be a hack-and-slash game. If anything, people expected it to be reminiscent of Knights of the Old Republic (which was far and away from anything like God of War in gameplay style). DA:O is an RPG from start to finish. Role-playing games have a habit of including exorbitant amounts of text. Preference can never equate to efficiency regarding situations like this, so accusing Bioware of wasting their time programming a game the way it was intended to simply because it isn't your kind of entertainment really does come off as amusing, in a way.

But I'm bored!
I'm kind of hoping this could be another Snow, actually.

Well, there is a lot of reading and answering involved. Personally, that's what I always liked about Bioware's games. I used love those Which Way (or something like that) books where your decisions affected what happened in the book. Further, I've always enjoyed roleplaying over hack n' slashing and dice rolling. If you hate this game, maybe Diablo is more your thing. I hear they're doing a new one soon. Whatever you do, BinaryBummer, don't play Planescape: Torment.

Dialog and choices are the meat and potatoes of RPG games. That being said, if you stick with it, you'll find plenty of combat in the game as well. But it's not Diablo.

It's NEVER been written up as anything but an old-school RPG.  Way to pay attention, kiddo!  Posted Image

Take some more time...it's a game that requires some time to get accustomed to, and to get really involved. And yes, you'll be doing a lot of reading, but do not worry, the "Hack & Slash" will eventually hapen as well and you won't be disapointed, I tell you! Saying that: if you really only want mindless slaughter, you'll better stick to Serious Sam and the likes... ;-)

Yes you can.

It just takes a bit of thought (or a helpful acquaintance) to figure out how.

There's often confusion that BioWare developed Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, which is a hack 'n slash game.

When I first got the game, I thought the game was boring. Now I love it! Just give the game a chance.

Some of the trailers were just combat-heavy cutscenes. They completely misrepresented the game, and many forumites pointed that out at the time (well before release).

Yes, it was quite the stink raised over that little bit of marketing dishonesty.  Ah, good times...   Posted Image
