This post is boring, from the title I thought it would be amusing and the trailer made me think the troll was funny but it turns out it is just a bunch of boring reading.

Some of the trailers were just combat-heavy cutscenes. They completely misrepresented the game, and many forumites pointed that out at the time (well before release).
I can imagine a trailer that would accurately represent my Dragon Age experience:
Lightning flashes dramatically as the rain comes down in sheets. Tense and dramatic music plays in the background while the Warden drags a 400 pound sack through the mud. She approaches a pair of dwarves and a relieved look comes across her face.
Dwarf: Can I interest you in this hat? A pair of earrings, perhaps...
Warden: No, but I've got some stuff for you! (She opens the sack and starts fishing through it) Heavy chain mail armour! Found it in some locked chest out in the middle of nowhere. How much can you give me for... wait, it's veridium. Alistair could probably use this. Nevermind.
Dwarf: Okay...
Warden: Got some gems... wait. I'm keeping these garnets. Might need them later. And these malachites. Here, I'll sell you some rubies.
Dwarf: Marvelous.
Warden: (Continues sorting through the sack) Uh, wolf pelts. Don't need those. Don't need these crappy swords and daggers. Hey, what's this? A belt? Plus ten to nature resistance... Sweet! Just a sec... (The Warden looks over her shoulder) HEY LELIANA! I CAN'T REMEMBER: ARE YOU WEARING A BELT?
A distant female voice responds: YES!
Warden: IS IT ENCHANTED?
Distant female voice: NO!
(The Warden turns back to the dwarf): 'Kay, I'm keeping the belt.
Dwarf: Of course...
Warden: Novice runes... I'm not going to use them but... Yeah, I think I'll keep those.
The trailer ends with the Warden leaving the merchant, now dragging a 350 pound sack behind her. The Dragon Age logo appears and that excerpt from that Marilyn Manson song starts to play.
I jest of course. I think the game was pretty fun.

Dialog and choices are the meat and potatoes of RPG games. That being said, if you stick with it, you'll find plenty of combat in the game as well. But it's not Diablo.

Yes, it was quite the stink raised over that little bit of marketing dishonesty. Ah, good times...
This is the problem with Bio making Mass Effect. A couple of years ago they could have just taken BinaryBummer's money and run; it doesn't matter how much you disappoint a customer if you don't make the sort of thing he actually wants anyway. But now they've got some people who don't know much about traditional RPGs but do like ME.They'll bring some over to DA; the question is whether they'll drive more away from ME.

It's also something that someone who doesn't think reading is boring would do. Poor fella was doomed to fall into a catch 22.DrunkDeadman wrote...

I just dont know how to respond to your stupidity...
I mean, are we on the same page here, you ARE talking about Dragon Age:Origins?
If the reading/answer part of the game is such a problem, perhaps you should never play Role playing games...
Boring? The rats in the castle is the bare begining of the Human noble origins story and you are already judgeing the whole game?Just wow...

The OP thinks the game is bad because he finds it boring. He finds it boring because he assumed it was a hacknslash when it's blatantly an rpg...this is even more bizarre because Bioware are famous for their RPGs. It's a bit like saying Quake is a bad game because it's not a racing game, despite ID Software being known for they're FPS games...
Thing is, DA:O is an RPG, and quite a good one. It's not the games fault if the OP expected something differant or that he doesn't have the attension span of a drunk goldfish.
Oh, and OP...calling the rest of us "some form of retards" just because we point out the planet sized flaws in your position and statements...that's just priceless...

RPG's are meant to be like 'novels'. My son-in-law, a Marine, had to take downers to get into RPG's. Now he loves them for what they are. Which, BTW, is why I pretty much always WALK in RPG's and don't run.
