I created this thread when Dragon Age Awakening first came out, so if this thread is against the rules I've gotten away with it for quite some time now.

Technically, Woo does not like VS threads. However, yours is not "WHO WOULD WIN THE FIGHT!" but who is better as character, so you should be fine.

One's an insane **** and the other a cunning, manipulative one. But Morrigan FTW. Velanna reminds me of a chiuaua with incessant yelps and heel nipping, the kind of irritating rodent-dog you just need to kick to shut up.

Morrigan has god baby on her side, too.

Ha! Ha! Great anology. Morrigan detest the common man. If you ever noticed when playing DAO unless you micro manage her in a fight she will not back up anyone of the team: and, seems to hang back about a mile. When I look around for Morrigan she is way the hell back. Valanna simply hates all humans and I expect herself as well.

Still, they both need to be **** slapped.

Both are beautiful, strong and fascinating women. I´d say Morrigan is a bit better because she has more interaction with the warden.

But then, Velanna is an elf.... I LOVE elves.

mm, basically this.

I don't necessarily have a preference (and I haven't quite beated Awk yet...), so this might change *shrug*

Imagine having both of them in your party at the same time. Alistair would hide. Strange creatures are women. Some gentle as the breeze...others fiery as the exploding volcano.

I am woman.

But i liked both of them so i can't say which one.

Well, if you need a female on the team, bring Sigrun.  She and Anders don't have as abrasive of personalities.

I'd have to say Morrigan - I just tihnk she was a much stronger character than Velanna. Albeit that might be due to the simple time over which her character was able to develop. I do like Velanna, though I'd probably say she was the weakest of the Awakening characters, other than Mhairi, who was simply Ser Jory but female. However, I found Velanna entertaining at times, and I generally love elves in the DA universe, hence why almost all my characters are elven. But no, Morrigan it is.

I thought Mhairi was going to be a companion for me until she did the joining ritual. I had only known her a few minutes but was so sad when she died.

She would of been a great companion to have in the party.

Morrigan is an annoying simple little tart, that is all. She as i have posted before is wilder trash, she a manipulative character who honestly thinks that batting her eyelashes rubbing her boobs on you is going to work. Morrigan is about as deep as the shallow end of the gene pool she clawed her way out of, a genetic floater who if not riding the coatails of the warden would still be eating bugs, waiting to be possesed by Flemeth, (who says Flemeth is a bad entity, anything that removes Morrigan from the world can not be all bad in my book).

Velena on the other hand is nothing more than Morrigan lite, but more tolerable only because the time frame of exposure is minimal, and if you do the Wending Woods last even less. Two peas in a pod they both are sorry to dissappoint all you Morrigan fans, well not really. Due to the minimal dialog options in Awakenings was bad in some respects but in the case of Velena it was a bonus.

I find it ironic as hell all of the folks espousing thier unyeilding devotion to Morrigan and with the same sentence trash what for all intensive purposes could be her identical twin. Imagine Velena's lines delivered in Claudia Black's voice and there is NO difference between the two. Delude yourself if you want to, both of thier personalities or shall i say lack one between to two of them, is more then enough for me to judge them both as annoying.

If you had to break characters down into the simplest of motivations, then Morrigan is the attempt of survival of the fittest powered by as much detatchment and emotional supression as possible. Velanna on the other hand is an emotional outburst that has gone completely out of control. So one character is built completely on lack of emotions that leads to cold, callous behavior towards her common man that displays weakness (empathy most commonly) in her eyes, the other one is built on not being able to control those emotions and going on a xenophobic murderous rampage after the loss of love and clan.

Nowhere near the same in character or motivations other than the fact they both are female and both are less than kind to their fellow party companions.

Although you were correct, missing the point completely in character motivations in such a ... lively... diatribe is a textbook form of irony, so I can't say you were completely wrong in your posting.

You really should consider forming some sort of Morrigan hate - cult (if you haven't already), as you like to post stuff like this on multiple threads. Or perhaps actually get to know her and not just dump her the first chance you get.

I don't think much of Velenna. The voice doesn't help. But as a character, I can't relate to her. Maybe if she were younger, her blindness seems kind of immature--it is hard to imagine her as an adult. I think it would have been a much cooler character if they had made her a kid, her thinking and reasoning seems to fall more into a younger pattern

I'm going to once again state that Velanna is more of a ***** than Morrigan. Morrigan starts off *****y but becomes a bit less of a ***** if you gain her approval. Velanna on the other hand is in permanent ***** mode no matter what you do. I think she might compliment you once but that is about it.

Actually, Velanna can mellow out as well over time. It's not as noticeable as the game is much shorter.

I think the question is more, for guys, do you prefer blondes or brunettes?

For women, it's who do you trust? Morrigan sees herself as the mistress of manipulation. Velanna is a lot more straight forward.
