Don´t force us to choose where is no need.

Threesome. Actually, Foursome if we include the Redhead too.

I don't like older women like Velanna... or is that just stress?

Velanna looks young, I think.

Even though I think Velanna is more of a ***** than Morrigan, I would certainly place my trust in Velanna first.
As mean-spirited as Velanna is, she still puts others before herself.
Morrigan on the other hand serves only herself.

Velanna and Morrigan both look like they're in their early 20's but I would imagine Velanna is probably a bit older since Elves live slightly longer lives than Humans.

I'd say it's at least a bit justified in Velanna's case. She just blames humans for everything that happened to the Elves. She's ultimately a good person, and if you keep Justice in your party, she will eventually ask him how he thinks she should repent for everything that she did. She's not like Morrigan much at all. Morrigan was just raised to only think of survival and efficiency in getting the job done. Velanna is more just upset about what's happened to her race in the past, and what is now continuing to happen to the Dalish. It's a completely normal response to what happened whereas with Morrigan it's all she's ever known, so it's much more deeply-rooted and much more difficult to fix. At the heart of it, Morrigan is a broken person who would need to undergo a lot of therapy and effort to change, Velanna is a good person who became frustrated with what was happening to her people and didn't know how to handle it.

Morrigan is an annoying simple little tart, that is all. She as i have posted before is wilder trash, she a manipulative character who honestly thinks that batting her eyelashes rubbing her boobs on you is going to work. Morrigan is about as deep as the shallow end of the gene pool she clawed her way out of, a genetic floater who if not riding the coatails of the warden would still be eating bugs, waiting to be possesed by Flemeth, (who says Flemeth is a bad entity, anything that removes Morrigan from the world can not be all bad in my book).

Velena on the other hand is nothing more than Morrigan lite, but more tolerable only because the time frame of exposure is minimal, and if you do the Wending Woods last even less. Two peas in a pod they both are sorry to dissappoint all you Morrigan fans, well not really. Due to the minimal dialog options in Awakenings was bad in some respects but in the case of Velena it was a bonus.

I find it ironic as hell all of the folks espousing thier unyeilding devotion to Morrigan and with the same sentence trash what for all intensive purposes could be her identical twin. Imagine Velena's lines delivered in Claudia Black's voice and there is NO difference between the two. Delude yourself if you want to, both of thier personalities or shall i say lack one between to two of them, is more then enough for me to judge them both as annoying.

You really should consider forming some sort of Morrigan hate - cult (if you haven't already), as you like to post stuff like this on multiple threads. Or perhaps actually get to know her and not just dump her the first chance you get.

It just seems to amaze me that folks want to ask seemingly innocent questions (all doe eyed) and then get offended by the answer, like it is my fault i answered the question honestly. If you can not handle the answer maybe you should not ask the question in the first place, or participate in the discussion. Perhaps it might be wise to consider phrasing the question to more closely reflect the true purpose of the question, such as " Morrigan VS Velenna (lie to me as i am incapiable of handling an honest answer, no contrary opinions will be considered valid, we shall also attempt to refute you instead of the answer you have provided)".

I do know Morrigan well enough to know that there is nothing there worth knowing  other than she is physically attractive, but no more so that Leliana, Anora, Bella or pretty much any other chick in the game. All of you delusional Morrigan fans consider this, if Morrigan looked in game like Flemeth,  how much fan love would there be? There would be no ritual, there would be no desire to chase her down, there would be no tounges wagging drool leaking eyes rolling up in the back of your head foaming at the mouth desire to continue her story, hell this and these types of threads would not even exist, the discussion would be pretty much non-existent. Flemeth is a more interesting character than Morrigan is but how many fan love threads are there concerning Flemeth?

So as this is the case Morrigan is in reality just half the package, nice rack with the personality of a turnip. She is not a completed character, not a major character, she is just a pleasant little romp in the tent nothing more, unless the PC is not immune to her charms and allows her to sleep her way to a higher position. Her only claim to fame will be manipulating the warden to either knock her up or get some other equally powerful man to do so, DAO's trailer trash woops sorry wilder trash.

At least with Velena the option to send her away was given to the player she is not forced upon the player, the player is not forced to deal with her any longer than the player chooses, and at least a bigger role than her character deserves is not the only choice forced upon the player. Velena is a pretty much a straight foward c#$t but she has no aspirasions or at least the writers did not give her any to be more than she is. Velena is at least straight foward about who and what she is, there is no manipulation subtle or other wise, where as with Morrigan it is about what is best for Morrigan.

The cute little ring that gets everybody all excited, offered as proof of Morrigan's supposed change of character, proof that Morrigan has developed a feeling for someone other than herself is nothing more than a tracking device so that if she chooses not to be found, the ring will let her know her lickspittle is close. Buy her bull **** if you want to, delude yourself with the feeling that you have been able to reach her, that she has feelings, and is able to place someone above herself, i myself recognize the dangerous predator for what it is, but as the player can excercise any choice (except to dump her) is what makes the game so beautyful.

You´re overreacting, noone did that. It seems YOU are the one who can´t handle differing opinions.

other than she is physically attractive, but no more so that Leliana, Anora, Bella or pretty much any other chick in the game.

We will need to agree in disagreeing - though I find it offensive that you add Anora to the list of attractive women. I´d rather put Sten in her dress and marry him than taking her. She is easily the ugliest person in Ferelden (though I admit, Cammen and the Broodmother have a chance to beat her).

Flemeth is a more interesting character than Morrigan is but how many fan love threads are there concerning Flemeth?

None, and with good reason. Flemeth is a cruel, mad abomination who abuses everyone. Dying was the only selfless thing she ever did, and I always take great pleasure in killing her.

So as this is the case Morrigan is in reality just half the package, nice rack with the personality of a turnip. She is not a completed character, not a major character, she is just a pleasant little romp in the tent nothing more, unless the PC is not immune to her charms and allows her to sleep her way to a higher position. Objectively speaking, the Dark Ritual makes her to the most important one of your companions. Not even to mention that without her and Flemeth your precious Wardens would lie dead on top of the tower of Ishal.
If she is not a major character, then there are no major characters at all, because noone else except Loghain and the Warden has as much  impact on the world as her.

And you´re wrong again. You can send Morrigan away at Lothering, for non-humans evn before when you get Dog. I´m not sure if you can refuse her immediately at Flemeth´s hut, ut at least you can get rid of her before anything important happens.

Also, Morrigan is rather honest and straightforward too. Yes, she IS manipulative and cares for nothing but power - at least before she falls in love with the Warden - but she tells you that whenever you talk to her. It´s not a surprise.

The cute little ring that gets everybody all excited, offered as proof of Morrigan's supposed change of character, proof that Morrigan has developed a feeling for someone other than herself is nothing more than a tracking device so that if she chooses not to be found, the ring will let her know her lickspittle is close. Your closed-mindedness obviously knows no borders. But it is no wonder when you obviously NEVER talked to her.  If you did you wouldn´t say she can´t be dumped.

Detailed instructions:
1) Travel to Lothering
2) The first time you can talk, click on her.
3) Go to "Let´s talk about something personal"
4) Choose "Why are you still here?"
5) When Morrigan gets pissed and asks if she should go, choose "Yes" or sth. similar.
6) Have fun - you jut got rid of Morrigan!

I have to admit, continuing from my earlier post, as much as I like Morrigan I actually really, really dislike her as a love interest. The flirt-lines are ridiculously stupid and crude, and her 'tis cold in my tent, all alone' makes my ears bleed. Her late-game confession is rather touching, but for me is in-no-way better than her friendship dialogues. The one thing that redeems her in my eyes as a love interest is the fact that, no matter whether she cares for you or not (matter of opinion), she always leaves. I like that her life goes on without you, it was a rather refreshing twist to pull on all the people who were expecting her to do the melting ice-queen and stay with you forever-and-ever =P. I have little doubt we'll catch up with Morrigan, but I fail to see why it has to be with the Warden. I mean, she told you not to find her. Respect her wishes and let her be.

I find Morrigan to be far more interesting and sympathetic when she's just a friend, which is obviously subject to the same caveat of whether she's just doing it to manipulate you. But then I much prefer playing female characters, who don't have to put up with her as an LI. Heck, the one time I did romance her I had to get her quest to trigger it since I missed all the early triggers because I couldn't quite bring myself to say them. Whenever I play male ones now I keep her on the friend level. Which doesn't stop me doing the ritual at the end, which I always do regardless fo playthrough, apart from when I'm achievement-hunting. I still need to get Warden-Commander...

But I have no doubt a lot of people will disagree with me here, and to each their own. Its not worth getting stressed over.

My big problem with the LIs is that I always pick the flirty lines because they´re the funniest, and when I would like to dump them later I feel too bad to do it:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

Thank you that does work hassle free as i have another mage i an running up dumping her at Lotharin has made the game experience so far more enjoyable.  You do take a -10 point Morrigan disapproves but as that is standard Morrigan it is hardly a surprise. Not that it matters in the context of the current conversation Allistair actually gains 1 point of approval, just one more bonus to add. Again thanks for providing me with a simple solution.  It is so simple i am embarrased to admit that it took this long for me to learn how to do this, eighteen completed plays now dealing with Morrigan and number 19, i am finally free until like a bad penny she will return to offer me the DR which i will glady refuse, it is like a whole brand new game now.

I think it Morrigan found a way to shapeshift into a different humanoid form. Just think about it, they are both ****es, they are mages, they live in forests and they have the same hair. I think in the next installment in the series there will be a female dwarf with the same hair style and equal in ****y-ness that can somehow use magic because she spent too much time in the forest and lost her tolerance to Lyrium. I'm calling right now.

I tend to agree with Asai as much as I love Bioware charachters, even Carth and The Black Whirlwhind, Morrigan is the one I hate the most. She lies to you, uses you, manipulates you, and is only after your as it were. Anyone who believes Morrigan feels anything else for a person and can actually come to truly care for the Warden is a fool. Morrigan flat out tells you in game why did you ever trust her.

If Bioware in the likely second expansion or game writes that Morrigan suddenly runs off the Warden and they raise the God Child to be hope to the world, I will die a little inside. A best the OGB will be used as another tool for Miss. B*tch Witch to use.

edit- I just replayed the part in Jade Empire where TBW tells you about his brother and the arena fighting. " For the first time in my life I ran, I ran and drank myself into a stupor that lasted for half a year." I felt more impressed by this one line from an obnoxious drunk then I ever felt with Morrigan's fake little speechs if you actually go through the dark ritual.

Actually, Velanna can mellow out as well over time. It's not as noticeable as the game is much shorter.

I think the question is more, for guys, do you prefer blondes or brunettes?

For women, it's who do you trust? Morrigan sees herself as the mistress of manipulation. Velanna is a lot more straight forward.

Brunettes FTW!!! Plus I like Morrigan's cunning mind over Velanna's simple "I HATE EVERY HUMAN THAT I SEE" mind!

MAGES ARE ALWAYS COOL. VELANNAS VOICE ACTOR MAKES ME THINK OF THE OLD DAYS WHEN BIOWARE ONLY MADE PIECES OF ART HNGGH OH YEAH

I liked them both. Morrigan is a more interesting/complex character. Velanna is just angry about her sister. Morrigan is more amusing. Both both of them grew on me. I always like those characters who have issues with you and if you stick with them, they open up (Nathaniel is this way too). And unlike Morrigan, you can have a happier ending with Velanna. I liked the epilogue I had with her where she comes to the defense of a human village under attack. She and Nathaniel are my two favorite characters from Awakenings. Oghren was a big let down. I rather liked Sigrun too but she wasn't in my party because she overlapped with my PC. Anders was kinda annoying. Justice was whatever.
