Go to the weapon load out in the armory on the combat deck of the Normandy SR-2. Click "Shepard" then go to your assault rifle tab and click "Choose" then select a rifle that fits your desired playstyle.
or is it that you want there to be exclusive dlc but you don't want it to be better than what is readily available in game? remember, you can get the vindicator (best gun in the game) as soon as you land on omega station.
if you're objecting to the way dlc is released, you're not going to convince anyone to release really lame and useless exclusive content as incentives for purchase or pre-order. the items have to be desireable.
if anything, use the geth pulse rifle. it is a trophy of your victory at haestrom on insanity. lastly, your argument about ammo types is not relevant, ammo types do make the CAR better. but they do not make the CAR better than the Vindicator. Vindicator with ammo types is basically the headshot machine of the game. its almost too easy because the gun is so accurate.
I always found that the CAR was just as accurate, but maybe that's with upgrades. In any case the CAR deals good but not amazing damage to health, shields, armor and barriers. If I remember correctly the Vindicator was only good at taking down health and armor.

Actually, Bioware has done a good job of ensuring that the DLC (non heavy) weapons AREN'T overpowered.Jarkill wrote...
The cynic in me warns that the Kasumi SMG, which will be available before the Horizon mark, will be more powerful than every other SMG in the game.
The Collector Assault Rifle is about as powerful as the starting assault rifle.
The Incisor Sniper Rifle is about as powerful as the starting Mantis Sniper Rifle.
I doubt the Locust SMG will be more powerful than the Tempest.

Except for the Arc, I don't think any DLC weapon or armor is worth using. The standard high-end stuff and upgrades all seem to perform better.
I agree, I have never used any of the DLC armor (would like to meet that "genius" who decided to have fixed helmets) and from weapons, I have only used CAR. And I really do not understand why they released yet another useless heavy gun. The only one I have ever used is the Collector beam. Till I get it, I do not use any (well except the grenade launcher at the very beginning as Bioware thinks players are retarded and have to be shown how to use heavy weapons). Once I get the beam, no reason to use others.

Don't forget about Eviscerator.
With regard to the Collector rifle, it's only good at medium-long range but even then it's worse than Vindicator. At close range, it's actually the worst gun in the game. Even Shuriken and Predator are better, at least based on my testing with disruptor ammo (don't know if Dethateer's comment that CAR with disruptor ammo isn't as good as it ought to be holds water.)

Before getting all the N7 upgrades the Collector Armour was very useful.
I don't have the Blackstorm so I can't say anything about that one but the Arc Projector is great for clearing crowds. Certainly over powered for easier difficulties but on Insanity heavy weapons are usually what stand between you and untimely death.

How many shots do you get with the Blackstorm is it on par with the Arc Projector?

The collector assault rifle is complete garbage compared to the vindicator or revenant.
The best overall heavy weapon is actually that cryogun thing. Hghly effecient and very versatile, closesly followed by the non-seeking missle launcher, very good but very speciliazed for taking out hard single targets fast.
where are you getting a non seeking missle launcher?

I don't use the Collector riffle and instead of the Eviscerator I use the Claymore.cruc1al wrote...

Then why was it added as a bonus to (higher price) Special Edition? o.Ojavierabegazo wrote...
And you really don't know what you're talking about if you think the Collecter AR is good at anything. Statistically, it's the pretty much the worst AR, it excells at absolutely nothing

Did you expect them to add an uber Redeemer/BFG or something? And it's not "special edition" it's collector's edition. Who cares where it's from. It's not a very good AR, regardless.

Bonus armor and weapons were intended to be weaker than standard high-end stuff. Otherwise people without that promotional stuff would be in a disadvantage.MisPys wrote...

I think I'd go with "roughly equal". My soldier almost always uses the collector suit. And I'm pretty sure that most adepts/sentinels/engineers would go with dragon armor, if they have that avialable. So some of it is a little better.

I forget what it's called. It's like the first heavy weapon you get. Looks like it shoots a missle to me. Grenade, missle, whatever.

I can tweak the N7 armor to my liking. It has various cool mods that are not available to any DLC armor. So, I rather use that.vhatever wrote...
