I've only seen a few photos of the HBO series, but it looks damn interesting - same production quality as Rome and Band of Brothers, so it should be a good watch. It'll probably be a long delay before we get it over here, sadly.

It looks like it's going to be amazing. HBO did a fab job with Rome and Band of Brothers so that gives me great hope. Image IPB
I've only recently watched Band of Brothers, 2 episodes so far.  I need to sit the teen down for some more soon. We have been studying WWII, so it's a great way to jump start his researching.

Yup - loved Rome; and the DVD's actually pointed out alot of the cultural differences between us and them - whilst it wasn't a documentary, it was very interesting to note how strangely similar and yet very different they where from us today.

Fair warning about BoB, it goes to grim places - tis war, after all, heh...

Interesting - And yeah, I know that feeling - Terry Pratchett is having to wrap up the whole of Discworld in his last book due to his condition :(

And that is so sad. :(

I just looked up what illness he has since I had no idea he was ill. . Man, early onset Alzheimer's. My uncle had that and it was devastating to see. Image IPB

Yeah, its really sad - and he's now trying to get the law changed over here to allow for assisted sucides - good luck to him I say.

I see no reason to think of DA:A as proof of anything for ME3. Two different teams, two different graphics engines, and DA:A isn't a sequel, it's just an expansion.

You make a good point, Sia. I guess I'm just a bit sad that, so far, it's missing all the things I really  liked about  DA:O and the price seems kinda steep. I knew all this coming in to it really is fine in the end.  I really just need to shut up and play more. At least I get my great bear. Image IPB He's so adorable.

I got it last night, but haven't played yet.  Will be cracking it open today since I'm home sick.

I am not very far into Awakening yet.  So, I am trying to withhold judgement, but I am a bit bummed about how they seem to be handling Alistair in my game b/c I did not make him king.  He and my warden were suppose to be off wardening together and yet there my warden is all alone :(

*pats* Its ok - I'm sure after the events of awakening, they get together again - I know my dad in the army had to spent long periods away from home.

So, no Disney endings?  :P  I don't mind stories with lots of death, but I usually prefer if I know there is going to be one safe character than I can cling to. :?

If he has any Disney endings planned, it's in the books that he hasn't written in the past five years. *sigh*

Yes, I suppose it will be.  I just don't like the idea of him alone with all of those thankful Ferelden ladies ;)  He better behave himself.

@sia-hope you feel better. At least you can play DA.

@doug-yeah, I figured it would get grim, that's realism. I like that. I forgot about the amazing Rome DVD extra thingies. Now that show is not something I'm going to show my teen anytime soon.

Dammit Bioware, I just want some acknowledgment that Alistair is the one true love of my city elf. So far, it's like he doesn't exsist. *sobs*

I'm probably just bitter after a Kaidan cameo. It does not help at all that my hubby is so busy with schoolwork lately. Ok, whine time is over.

Good morning everyone!

So, new topic: Favorite (non-Bioware) fictional couples. Here are a few of mine:

Han and Leia (I mean, who doesn't love them?!)

"Captain, being held by you isn't quite enough to get me excited!"

Zane and Danica from the Kiesha'ra

"I'm not asking for anything besides your company in sleep. Just let me rest with the sound of your heartbeat next to mine." (And for those of you who have read my fic Midnight Munchies, yes, this was the inspiration for Kaidan's final line.)

Joisan and Kerovan from Gryphon's Eyrie (Had to include them since Joisan is where I took my username from)

"Always you doubt me, Kerovan! What must I do to make you believe that I could never company with another, that I want only you?"

And Lessa and F'lar from the Dragonriders of Pern.

"Well, she would rather meet the man in the presence of a sleepy dragon than in a sleeping room."

He better be good or my mage will have some spells to show him

I just wish they would explain in the game why he isn't around.  Any bs would do, like he is guarding Denerim from any remaining darkspawn stragglers.  I just would like some acknowledgement of my characters DA:O ending.

I loved Han Solo and leia myself - seemed so very organic and natural, you know? Hate turns to love and all that. Unlike....*grumbles* "I don't like sand, its not smooth, like you"

Let me think - I like Cpt Vimes and Lady Sibil from Discworld, very nice relationship there of the more settled down type.

I would like to think Han and Leia is how BW envisions the ME LIs developing through the whole trilogy. Han and Leia had their ups and downs, but in the end they ended up together.

Non-BW Couples:

Spike & Buffy

Squall & Rinoa

I'm sure there are others, but those were the two that popped immediately to mind.

Harry & Sally. ;)

Fixed for you.

Hubby and I have almost all Han and Leia's lines memorized.  That's what happens when you both pattern your personalities after fictional people when you're kids.

Yeah, I'm having trouble coming up with much. Brain is powering down for sleep. Image IPB Here are just a couple:

Remus and Tonks from Harry Potter
Dag and Fawn from The Sharing Knife series by Lois McMaster Bujold
Cordelia and Aral from Cordelia's Honor, also by LMB
Lee and Taro from the source and shield books by Moira J Moore
Liath and Sanglant from the Crown of Stars series by Kate Elliott

Nice! Lessa and F'lar definitely fall into that category. K'vin and Zulaya too, just finished reading that one last night for the second time. Took them a while to get there, but in the end...

Yep, Wheel of Time is good too :) Been a while since I read any of those, though.
