SPOILERS
I've said it before, but I don't think TIM getting knowledge from the monolith makes him any less of a great character. Besides the obvious (glowing blue eyes, knowing where the monolith is and when it's calling, which seems pretty normal for Reaper tech), he gained the ability to speak in alien languages. That's all we know for sure so far. We don't know what truth he managed to figure out at the end of volume three or how much the monolith had to do with that, but it looked like his own intelligence and thoughts played a part in it. TIM was in that room studying the wall carvings for quite some time. And he was already a smart guy before contact with the monolith, capable of leading in battle, coming up with plans good enough to ambush the turians, and make General Williams trust and respect him.
However the turians and humans learned to speak each others' languages, or figured out how to use translators for that, it happened before the starting point of Evolution, which was the last few weeks of the war. It would be nice to know, but I don't consider an explanation necessary. Unless it was a simplified one, I doubt I would understand all that tech stuff anyway. I'm still not completely sure how the translators by the time of the games work, or if it was ever explained in detail. That period of time we don't know about, between the beginning of the war and the comic, could also be when they found out about other parts of the galaxy like Illium. All it takes is a human squad defeating turians in battle and pulling up the galaxy map when they're studying the ship.
I didn't think it was strange that he could use the extranet either (or that Eva could fly an alien ship). The other species in Mass Effect are similar to humans. Their technology has always been similar. I mean, even their guns look exactly the same as human guns, when some of the aliens who use them only have three fingers instead of five. It's not surprising that their ships and internet function a lot like the human version. Sovereign did say that organics evolved along the path the Reapers wanted... I just consider this, and every similarity, part of that path.
Although it was funny that TIM could find information about the monolith online, that's probably just human instinct for him - the "anything can be found online" mindset. It's normally true. I find the thought of Saren or one of his men watching the extranet until someone did a search for "arca monolith" to be much more amusing, but hey, Desolas knows humans pretty well.
I agree about Eva though. Personally, I think she's annoying. And "nonsensical response" certainly describes the way she attacked a turian general after the war was over, when they were being released, without any plan aside from jumping on him... but in a way, it's realistic. Some people really would be that foolish.

Do you think that what all the other characters say in the game is correct, that after you no longer serve his needs that he will betray you? Or that deep down he is an evil guy?
I honestly think the Illusive Man is what he is, he's simply a guy that uses questionable methods to achieve his purpose. I don't get the whole evil thing, it's too bad that the narrative basically makes you give him the finger at the end of the game.
On the point of him betraying Shepard if he no longer is useful, I simply don't think that would happen. Betraying him when the Reapers are on the doorstep would be a completely idiotic move. But do you think he'll continue to provide Shepard with any kind of assistance in ME3? I know we certainly haven't seen the last of him.

About the end conversation with TIM - I found that the best response for ending on good terms with him is a combination of Renegade/Paragon/Neutral options, in that order. My Shepard sounded frustrated after a long battle, but still ended the conversation working with TIM.

Hope I'm not alone in hearing TIM's voice and laughing my ass off.

Pretty much my exact reaction:
[Snipped because AAAAAAUGH WTF?!]
If you'll excuse me, I'll be over here, tearing my hair out in sheer frustration.

Could simply be a misunderstanding from the writer, wishful thinking from the writer etc.

That would make T.I.M. and Cerberus no better than a weak plot device (didn't see that one coming!) Here's to hoping there's some sort of information/background we're missing (or a misunderstanding.) I'd hate to see T.I.M., and by association Cerberus, go out that way. Especially with all the recent work to flesh out his character and organization a bit more, for better or worse.
(Useless Commentary: Lulz... T.I.M. decides to team up with the Reapers and somehow betrays/uses (?) them, already having learned their uber secrets, eventually making humanity the new "Reapers." "Eventually humanity will take its rightful place in the stars." Hmm...
I wish we could get a Dev. to post here.

I think TIM is incredibly suave
There's proof too, what with Shadow Broker's files :') It would have been awesome if a renegade pro-humanity shepard could've flirted with him...

Indoctrination. Seriously? Hoping it's not as bad as it sounds. Still early.

It will probably tie in somehow with the indoctrination thing if that turns out to be the case. I know they have been mentioning pros and cons to Renegade/Paragon this time around (if true.)

I'm wondering if it would be towards the end. Hoping for something ~way~ out there if they plan on heading in a ~certain~ direction.

I know I'd be shedding tears but my femshep would have to be put on suicide watch after killing her future husband.

It certainly will. I hope they don't go that route.

And welcome to the thread Rose. Feel free to bring up any points about T.I.M. if you'd like. The threads a bit slow, but that's to be expected being so far out from ME3.
And I agree, I hope they don't go that whole 'find him, confront him, and kill him' route. It would all just seem so cliche.

Also, I've begun work on a little thing for the thread just give me a bit to find a good render.
Happy 4th of July to any of you Americans out there.

Thanks.
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but...I was playing Jacob's loyalty misson recently and I got a line from T.I.M I've never seen before. "Cerberus is ultimately about humanity. My people are valuable to me." It is obvious if you pay attention to the crew, but I didn't know he actually came out and said it.
Yeah, he's an interesting character that deserves better than that. I'm still hoping he ends up being an LI, or maybe even on our squad at some point, though I know that has a very small chance of happening.

And personally I wouldn't want him as a squadmate that'd be a bit weird.
