I agree with this.Ashwraith wrote...
I don't know about you, but if I were in his position, I'd be doing everything in my power to get Shepard on my side and keep him (or her) there. Backstabbing the Commander would be a.) way too much of a risk (not to mention potentially hazardous to one's health), and b.) the equivalent of throwing away however many billions of credits it took to bring Shepard back to life.
Even if you can't use a weapon yourself, it's better to have it in your hand than in someone else's. Breaking said weapon would, I think, be a last resort- after all, there's always the off chance you might need it again.
A choice between TIM and the Shadow Broker as an information source could be interesting, but a few of my Shepards probably made the Shadow Broker angry in ME1. xD

Although, that said, I'm having a hard time imagining a stable business relationship with someone who tried to sell you to the Collectors (directly) and/or Reapers (by extension).
(Also why am I suddenly picturing a tug-of-war?
TIM: Let go! Shepard's mine!
Shadow Broker: Back off dude, I was here first! *pulls*
TIM: I said, get your own! You had your chance! *pulls back*
Shepard: My mothaf****in' ARMS! ;3; )
Personally, my Shepard thinks the Shadow Broker's face is long overdue an introduction to her fist. Long, long overdue. >.>
EDIT: Liara would make things much more appealing, this is true. And then I really would have to ponder over the choice, rather than going 'hahahaha yeah no, I think I'll just order an orbital strike on your base instead kthxbai.'

As for the original Shadow Broker, my Shepards would want to enter each others games, team up to find him, and bring the heavy weapons. >
Edit: Tug-of-war. xD Didn't see that before I posted. Too bad my Shepard who likes TIM couldn't be awake/alive to hear him say "She's mine! Get your own!"

Perhaps representative of the three heads of the mythical Cerberus?

Again with props to Shadow Aeons.
Seriously, I'm looking forward to seeing him in ME3. (Probably through the scope of a sniper rifle)

Demon eyes or not, I like 'em. I wish I had a pair. I'd go around scaring people at night. (Though, I could stare at his eyes all day.)
No killing of Illusive Man so quickly. You'll make most people in this thread very sad (or angry. They'll send the "army" after you, if you catch my drift.)
Starting to miss Zulu. ¬_¬

"Stare into my glowing demon eyes." Awesome. xD Some of my Shepards happen to like staring at the Illusive Man's eyes. The one who has a crush on him is spending a longer time debating about keeping her scars/red eyes than she did for any major galaxy-altering decisions. (She would like the glowing red cybernetic just-like-TIM demon eyes, but not the scars.)
If killing TIM is an option in ME3... I don't know if I'd be able to make the Shepards who would want to kill him actually do it. D: I guess it depends on what he does in ME3, but he's one of my favorite characters. So, obviously, TIM just needs to give my paranoid Sole Survivor Shepard (and a few others) a good reason to keep him alive.

Hey, I thought that was Garrus's job.
Anyway! I'm throwing in my lot with the people who could stare into TIM's glowing demon eyes all day. XD
I quite like his eyes- and that's an interesting theory about the triple-dot motif. It's possible, and a much better explanation than the one I had up to that point. (Namely, he's secretly the owner of Linux.)
I do hope we aren't forced to kill him in ME3. That would make me... displeased.
Although that said, it would be understandable if the player had taken the Paragon ending, as Cerberus is gunning for you now.
...Then again, I wouldn't expect he'd try anything until after the Repers were dealth with, because yanno... still kind of a problem. And stuff.
It'd be very interesting to see divergent storylines in ME3, depending on which path you chose at the end of the previous game. We had a taste of it already, with the galaxy being much more bitter and hostile toward you if the Council was left to die in ME1.
Of course, really I just want an excuse to start calling my Shep 'Supreme Commander Servalan'.
(Though Joker does that already. >.> )

The other Shepards... they can be convinced to keep TIM alive if it's for the sake of defeating the Reapers. Saving the galaxy is the most important thing, after all. Still, if killing him is an option, I'll play through the Shepards who like him first (or most of them, and save some for later so my last playthrough doesn't end like that). I want him to live! D: My favorite characters tend to get killed off.
There isn't a limit on number of playthroughs, is there? >.>; Because I've planned a lot of them.

The Illusive Man is Charismatic, practical, and to be honest, I can empathize with his interest in experimentation. My biggest problem with saving the Collector base, is how Anderson will react, and how the galactic community will respond. Luckily there are a few ways to look at it.
1.) Cerberus is rogue, so Humanity as a whole won't suffer
2.) Cerberus dominates the Universe. Shepard has been loyal so he and T.I.M. build Rome, as Ceasar did.
3.) T.I.M. Takes over, Shepard is expendable. Shepard returns to The Alliance. I have inside info on Cerberus, Humanity is badass. If the Council freaks out, make them a deal. Cerberus is rogue. I'll protect you, Humanity is given respect because, as Shepard, I could have let them railroad you. So I've saved your lives AGAIN!
4.) If The Alliance and The Council hate me, so be it. I'll play the villain. I'll be a worthy adversary, so if the Alliance wins, they deserve to rule. If not, survival of the fittest. Cerberus gave me toys. The Counceil gave me zippo.
The races can't be judged and damned all together. Shepard and The Illusive man don't represent ALL of Humanity, just like the Turian Councilor doesn't represent ALL Turians. (Thank the Gods for That...) What I'm saying is, NO ONE besides Cerberus is taking any initiative, and the Council REALLY doesn't care about it's citizens. The Utopia they think they are protecting is admirable, but it just felt right to offer them the chance to join the fight, they spit on the hand I offered, so I am with Cerberus to the end.
If The Illusive Man asks me to Kill Anderson though, we'll have a problem. Anderson is the only thing the council has going for them. If I could persuade Saren to kill himself, I can persuade Anderson to join me, otherwise... I guess he's a regrettable sacrifice.
On a personal note: I enjoy the thought of Shepard being more dangerous then Saren, and being with Cerberus the Council and The Alliance declare me a traitor, so they send another Human SSPECTRE to take me down in ME3. The politics are so promising...
Anyway, that's my two cents. The Illusive Man brought me back from the dead and gave me everything I wanted. If the Council cares, they'll step up. If not, I still have Clan Urdnot, The Geth, The Rachni, My Crew and Cerberus behind me. Let's see the Council Top THAT!

Too bad Anderson doesn't go all out Samuel L. Jackson-ish. I doubt there would be a problem then.
Ha, in random related news, there was a radio commercial with Martin Sheen. Couldn't help but say "Hey, it's the Illusive Man!" He was selling auto fix-its. (I know I'm a nerd, shh.)

Liked him better when he was still known as the ellusive Cancer Man. Later in the series his character became too prominant and they changed his name.LKR79 wrote...

But yeah TIM looks quite a bit like the Cancer Man. The one from the older series. Not sure TIM ever assissinated people like JFK or MLK though.
He actually strikes me as a crossover between the Cancer Man and Gordon Gekko from Wall Street.

I like your logic. I never thought of saving the Rachni and the Council simply that they would owe me. But, now....
And possibility #2 sounds the best. haha

I'm with you on that one as well. I liked the character more when he was more mysterious, not when he was claiming to be Mulder's father.

I would say something about it, but it just comes out as a jumble of disconnected syllables.
Cinematic trailer TIM had this effect on me, too. Oh ho ho Ihatemyself. >.>
In other news, I've never actually watched the X-Files. I'll have to do that some time, if for no other reason than to educate myself on who, precisely, the aforementioned Cancer Man happens to be.

They gave me a new ship, my Shephard is only happy if he's on a ship.
Cerberus doesn't ask me stupid questions, they just give me resources and say do it.
Me and TiM have the same goals (stop The Reapers, take over The Galaxy, better seats in space ships etc.)
If TiM orders me to kill Miranda/Legion,/Garrus/Anderson/Joker or do something against Humanity I won't do it.
If he orders me to kill the New Council or to commit genocide of the Quarian or Batarian Race, I will do it without asking any questions, but I will need bigger guns.
I'm proud that I'm a part of Cerberus and if Council or Ash don't like it then they go f*ck themselves.
