BioWare let's make Mass Effect a MMORPG in the future. We could have every specie playable and less side missions and let individuals concentrate on the main missions as we have a new species of terrorists and everyone can be Shepard or play as his/her enemy.

The Story of Mass Effect evolves around Shephard and his/her choices. Having multiple people running around as Shephard would really limit the story since it would go down a set path of want the developer wants since there would be no way a MMORPG could allow the choices of the player affect that game universe since everyone will do something different.
Perfect example would be players being idiots and going around killing everything, no point in the Reapers even showing up since there are a bunch of people doing the job for them.

NO!!!! I hate that KOTOR is getting a MMORPG and not a proper sequel to KOTOR 2. I don't care if the trilogy is over keeping it going with the single player format in this universe. Sorry OP but NO MMORPGs!!!!

No thanks. A jump to MMORPG killed Warcraft 3's great story, and will likely do the same thing with KOTOR. I don't want my second favorite sci-fi universe ever getting screwed the same way.
Keep Mass Effect single-player only, please! This amazing universe can't be wasted on an MMO!

No.
The MMORPG is the worst possible platform. It's not simply a matter of playability, but accessability.
An MMORPG is a level-grinder, there is little to no story, you have to pay to play on top of the retail cost and most importantly you have to play on-line, and to do the 'highest' and 'hardest' parts, you NEED a team.

MMORPG idea sucks - I hate those, don't play those, wouldn't buy those. Enuff about me - ME storyline doesn't support that type of gameplay.........

NO. Mass Effect is single-player, and the story outcome is based on your decisions alone. Plus I do not want to have to pay per month to get part of the Mass Effect story.
My Shepard's story is mine. No one else's.
NO MMORPG.

The worst thing about MMORPGs is when some Batarian comes on and insists on speaking his own language without auto translation.
I am pretty sure that the Bioware have spoken about this many times and at all times stated that the Trilogy would be Single player.

Nope. They already said they will not turn ME in a MMORPG.
Also, you' re hardly the first person to say that.

I say yes and no.
Yes because it would be cool to be anoher race and go around the galaxy doing whatever i please with friends.it always sounds better then it really is.
No because well the MMORPG genre dies very quickly and cant really hold people interest for long. World of Warcraft is really the only successful MMO. People buy MMO's all the time but with in a year they lose interest. its not intended it just happens.
Mass Effect has a rich enough universe but for some reason i just dont see it working. I think Bioware should have finished the KOTOR story then do this stupid MMO. Thats just my opinion.

The only online experience I would be willing to see at all with the ME universe is possibly a limited Co-op mode of some sort, or maybe a standalone multiplayer game separate from the main story.
EDIT: An RTS would be interesting.

I agree.
With those in favor of the MMO that is.
Shepard's story should be single player and i believe it will be. However that doesn't mean this trilogy is the end of the mass effect universe (i hope). I do foresee many spin offs. I do think it would be outrageously fun to have a mass effect mmo but I also have a weird feeling that it wouldn't work. I would however love a co-op mode. Not the main story but like a side mode. I was talking about this one day with my friends and we decided controlling a squadmate-esque character would be the easiest way; not like I'm controlling Grunt but a character with a passive class power, a primary ability, a secondary ability, a "loyalty" power and two weapon trainings. This gives you three powers to map and two weapons to be toggled by holding x (no pausing). This may not be the place to describe all of this but i wanted to throw it out there.
P.S. I've seen a few "this is MY game" arguments and this bothers me. Its Bioware's game so don't get too entitled to "your game" (see L4D2 boycott)

RTS would be neat. Co-op would be neat. Standard multiplay mode would even be neat.
No MMORPG tho plz. I hate MMO's I have a friend who lives in them and it makes him lame like drug addiction.

Mutantcadet14 - we never said "this is my game", we said "this is my Shep" - meaning my save, my role, my level ups, my choices. Not another idiot signed in on MMORPG who makes these decisions for me. So, get unbothered, it is just a game, but who makes the decisions in the game is what we are discussing, dude.........

Yeah seriously, no MMORPG, Lucasarts screwed us over by giving us SWTOR instead of KOTOR 3. keep it a single player game! why should we have to pay a monthly subscription to play a game. Mass Effect would suck if it went MMO

To be fair, we don't know what a good MMORPG with a solid, persistent story would be like...yet. Clearly, Bioware is attempting that with SW:TOR. "With barely reserved trepidation: We shall see how that turns out."
On the other hand, Mass Effect -- through it's very name -- implies a massive, direct effect on the story/progression of the game, and the choice/consequence system Bioware has implemented certainly attempts to provide that, uh...effect. However, that type of experience simply cannot be recreated in an MMORPG setting, so any attempts to cast ME into that genre will essentially 'neuter' it of the thing that most sets it apart.
The class system Bioware has created certainly lends itself to MMORPG-style gameplay and I would not doubt that such a beast has been conceived, but without the "pillar of story" -- and without the brand of 'self-determination' the single-player Mass Effect stories offer -- I cannot forsee a satisfying transition.

Maybe not make it the Mass Effect universe, but keep the gameplay.
I mean hell, they're doing it with Old Republic, they could try and do it with a universe similar to Mass Effect.

NO, it's not going to happen. since mass effect is going to end. ME3 will be even more narrow than ME2 in terms of storyline. so I think that FPS (first person shooting) or third person shooting will affect on most story line for ME3 which will be fun. ME, ME2 is still RPG driven game story line. ME3 will be changed a lot like Bioware CEO said.
