The exact meaning nobody knows but it most probably means something along the lines "Godspeed" or to stay in the SF theme "May the Force be with you" (or the equivalent in your favourite religion/belief/whatever)

Actually very few Quarians still practice ancestor worship, most gave up religion after the Geth drove them from the homeworld. But ancestor respect is still present, so yes, what you say is likely.

I always thought of Keelah as a god/goddess reference, with the 'Selai being something along the lines of be with you... then again, Quarians are into Ancestor worship in a big way, so I don't think a single governing entity would fit. Just the way that Tali seems to use Keelah as an exclamation at times, but with Keelah'Selai it seems more a respectful phrase that people use.

hmm the meaning is very hard to discern. They use the full phrase as a greeting and to wish luck/bless the person they say it to. Though Tali says "Oh, Keelah". I think this one is easier to understand as it could be "oh god."

It'd be more interesting if Keelah is the major ancestral spirit  and quarian cultural hero that fought against the geth during the Morning War.

Thats what I made it out to be so the full phrase would be along the lines of "God be with you/bless you".

Since the ancestor personality imprint databanks were destroyed centuries ago, I doubt it's anything ancestor specific. More like "Maker bless and watch over you." said by Andrastians in DA:O/A.



I vaguely remember from somewhere that it could also mean "Return safely" since it's usually said as a parting message.

It's just one of them weird sci-fi quirks where translators are used. It translates every work said, except for the ones they don't want translated for that added effect.
