Yes! or No!

I've read several post from people who have played it and it sounds to me like there are not to many happy campers out there

The content is not worthy of the asking price?

Do yourself a favorite buy the DLC's

There only 400MP a pop and
start a new game and call it a day!

I don't hate the game, but I don't love it either. I like some of the new companions (still can't stand Oghren though) and the new adventures are fun, but it feels like something is missing. I'm only about halfway through right now. So I guess I can't say too much just yet.

The new way conversations are done is interesting, but I think I'd like a mix of the old with the new. Not a huge fan of it right now. I like asking my party loads of inane questions!

I like it, for £15 it's a superb purchase. Don't know how I'd react if I was asked to pay $40. When you convert the currency that's almost double what I payed

It does seem that *in general* UK players are a little happier because the price is lower.

I agree, it's an epic fail. But I'd like to point out your spelling of the title is an epic fail too.

Major letdown. I get a feeling its console users who are more upset about it than PC users. PC users still have plenty of mods and a toolkit to keep them happy. I wasn't fully aware of all the differences between the PC version, so I bought the 360 version for convenience. It's kind of like NWN. NWN had a terrible campaign, but people didn't mind because the editor resulted in a ton of excellent player made adventures.

So far I am liking it a lot. It is more Dragon Age content.

We get to see new locations. I think the level design and the pacing of the combat has improved. I have only done Wending Wood. I thought the quality of the level was as good as a DA:O location.

Amaranthine city is not huge. But the atmosphere compares well to walking around Denerim city. It was nice to see another Ferelden urban location. Also it is nice to run your own base.

I am not rushing through it. I have been savouring getting to experience more of Ferelden.

Lets say I star a new Origins game from scratch right so can I jump to Awaking an jump about from the original areas an the new areas back and forth? that is what a expansion is supposed to be!

You set the standards for expansions?

I didn't hate it, but I wasn't a big fan.

Would give it a 6.5/10
Contrasted with Origins which I had as an 9/10

Epic fail - For a Bioware game

Story was shallow content was easy ( felt sort of trivial as well, in the grand scheme of things ) and there were things that just had a buggy feel to it. For example, my archer critting mobs for over 1000 dmg consistantly. Or monsters stuck in some sort of attack mode in the backround during the ending scene. Things like that. First bioware game I've ever played that really felt cheap, which will make me consider their next game differently.

The price is terrible but the content is good. If I was a student with limited funds I would be upset, as it is I have far too little things to keep me occupied on my days off. I spend way more on steam for far less quality

No you can't. Awakenings takes place completely separately from Origins, although it requires Origins to play. None of the new skills, talents/spells or specializations are accesible within the first game. The only true connection is that you can import your character from Origins, into Awakenings. The story line is supposed to take place several months after the cinematic events of Origins.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it an epic fail. I would, however, say that there have been made some mistakes that really shouldn't have been there. For one, my entire Origins ending got retconned. In a game about choices, my final choices gets omitted? Really? Also, there is no legit reason as to why DLC equipment doesn't import, especially if one guy manages to create a 10MB mod that does within a day.

The expansion itself is a blast, I love getting to continue on and see another part of the Dragon Age story. My only problem, if I had to pick one, is the fact that they charged $40 for it. It just seems like exploiting the success of the original game a little bit by charging far more than the typical amount for an expansion pack. I didn't mind spending $40, but I can see how they might have excluded some of the player base by charging that much.

You couldn't do that in SoU or HotU (NWN expansions). Those are BioWare examples. Can't do that in NWN2's expansions either (Obsidian examples).

Something else is, as someone who just bought Dragon Age:Origins about 10 days ago and recently completed it ( on hard ) I was really looking forward to playing it through again on nightmare. Well not anymore, after realizing all of my choices in the first game are simply going to be taken away and dont matter at all moving forward I realy don't want to play origins again, which would have given me a lot more playtime. I just went and looked at my playtime in awakening ( this is after doing every sidequest I could find ) ... 10 hours ... TEN hours. I think I had nearly 50 or 60 in origins. Complete waste of cash, so unless you have played origins 2 times, I would highly suggest not buying this game, because it will ruin whatever you did in origins.

I'm loving Awakening. I love the story and the new companions. The new areas are great too.

It was good in my eyes. I'd give it a score of 8 overall.

So far I'm about 4 hours in and have only completed one of the 3 original plots quest lines. Add in all the side quests and I'm estimating around 15-20+ hours of game play in this expansion. The price was a tad bit high but the content is good and I really loved the new characters. If you have the money and really liked origins then this expansion is for you. G4 gave the best review I've seen of the game you should go check out the vid.

Bethesda games like

Fallout 3 or

Oblivion Shivering Island officially dubbed an expansion

You can access the content at anytime during your current play through or right at the start of your new game

Thus hoping about at you own discretion between original areas/quests on the disk and areas/quests on the HDD as one super long game if you started from scratch LOL

To be fair, Fallout 3 and Oblivion don't exactly have a good story, nor one that requires a certain level of continuity. Also, Broken Steel wasn't available until you finished the game. Speaking of Broken Steel, I wonder why BioWare didn't give us a decent explanation as to why the Ultimate Sacrifice Warden is still alive.

First off if you want that character to be dead then just make an Orlesian Warden.

Fallout 3 didn't have a good story?? :?
I am not going to nitpick about a different developers game on BW boards.
I am just going to say you are wrong and leave it at that.

Fallout 3 had a decent story but let's not kid ourselves it was pretty shallow with practically no twists or turns. Exploring DC was one hell of a joy ride though :)
