To all people who say this is Epic Fail i suggest you go away and make your own version of DA see if you can do better.

The thing about haters is they can't actually create anything or produce anything in their own lives. All they can do is hate on other's works. It's the nature of hating.
Perhaps BIoware should include a new DLC expansion that adds the r

class H8er
epic ability : long whiney rants about being "robbed" and "cheated"

Just the patch alone gets a FacePalm. Why are my load times 4 times as long? What's the purpose in that? Why is Nathaniel (who has far fewer stat points to spend than an imported PC) doing 240 damage with normal hits and near 400 with crits while never missing because his attack score is 224? Is that fun? Why is my Main Rogue Flickering around to an entire Mob, backstabbing for 330 or more damage each, thus making my entire party useless? Is that exciting after the twentieth time?
Listen, if you love a game that's broken so you can God-Mod around and drag 3 other bodies with you for no real reason (since talking to them is pointless) while the audio and visuals drop out left and right, then your right: this game is the bomb. $40? Oh sure, that's a fair deal for this masterpiece....

Fallout 3 didn't have a good story??
Ha! What the hell are you smoking? I want some.
Well alright, it wasn't the worst story ever. Nah...
It was just the stories of Fallout 1 & 2 mashed together, with some liberal amounts of crap smeared on the lore. Thats all.

That's just moronic.I hate when people say "why don't you make a better game if you don't like it." That just lets a company off the hook for a sub-par release.

This shows how bad Awakening can get on PC. I have the xbox version and have had none of those technical issues. I completely understand when PC players complain about Awakenings - they've had a bad deal compared to consoles.

Should have been like 25-30 bucks, not 40. Probably would feel much better about the whole thing if it had been cheaper.

I think the only people who are having problems with it are the ones who seem to have massive expectations heaped on it. Its just an expansion, it wasn't ever meant to have near the content of the original.
Overall my biggest complaints (next to bugs that need fixing, but that should happen with time) are that by the time you get all your companions you're pretty much at the end of the game. I would've liked to see a bit more content available for you after you get your companion list filled. I like the new character, I just wish you had some more time to get to know them.
And I would've liked to hear more from the Origins companions, even if they didn't actually show up in game, maybe a letter from Leliana to let me know she still cares, a note from Shale about what she's up to in Tevinter, etc, but that's about it really.

By the way, I didn't buy it - I just played over at some friends' place and when they told me how there was hardly any mention of the story/events of DA:O I had made my decision. No Leliana, no money from this one ...

Epic fail - For a Bioware game
Story was shallow content was easy ( felt sort of trivial as well, in the grand scheme of things ) and there were things that just had a buggy feel to it. For example, my archer critting mobs for over 1000 dmg consistantly. Or monsters stuck in some sort of attack mode in the backround during the ending scene. Things like that. First bioware game I've ever played that really felt cheap, which will make me consider their next game differently.
Great review.
I would give it a 6/10 maybe....and that is REALLY stretching it. In it's current state a 4/10. Dragon Age Origins I would give a 9/10 the DLC content I would give a 6/10.
I used to be a huge Bioware fan...but this expansion and the DLC's the patch and so on have really made me rethink that. All in all the expansion was epic fail. Not to even mention the horde of bugs unleashed with the patch / expansion it's hardly in a playable state. The story was garbage that elf mage character was pathetic ripoff of Morrigan in look / personality but an huge failure I regret not killing her when I had the chance.
I do not recomend anyone get the DLC's or the expansion or ever patch your game. Dragon Age Origins was really good but do not even bother with the rest.
Sadly I think Bioware simply got cheap they used to be known for high quality games you would never forget. I finished this game just to try and feel justified in spending all the money...but I just feel cheated. This should be priced at no more than $20.
I spent more time crafting runestones than the actual game content and that is NOT a good sign.
Key thing to remember - Do not buy this expansion, do not buy the DLC's spread the word.

You think this is a sub-par release? You are a moron.
I could agree with you if there were not text errors, power bugs, crafting issues, and slowdown issues with the expansion...other wise it is perfekt.

The problem is that a weak release like Awakening (following rather disappointing DLCs) will cost Bioware lots of potential customers for DA:O2.

Bioware's sales numbers disagree with your assessment
EA is doing backflips over the sales of DLC and the Expansion

I went to rent this game at the local rental place because I refuse to donate $40 for what was sure to be beaten in a few short hours. .
I guess you don't buy any videogames then? Since DAO A is longer than 99% of single player games on the market, and those are all 50-60 you must not play anything?

However, I did not feel connected to the characters like in Origins. Getting to know the characters as you worked through the quests was what brought the game to life for me; gave me a connection to the world. I liked asking them questions and seeing what would happen depending on my choices. In Awakenings I found myself feeling like I missed out on something (Although I love the character of Anders). Would have liked to have more content once I got all the characters together.
I would rate the game as 6/10 where the Origins was 9/10.
