Stop playing RPG's like action games and take in some of the lore and crafting and you might not finish it in 15 hrs. And stop mentioning that you finished it on nightmare... nobody cares!
Stop whining about the price! Its a typical price for an expansion! How long did you take finishing MW2? And how much did you pay for that? Oh and get a job so I don't have to read about how you cant afford to play games - you spend more money every friday night! So give me a break.
Stop dissing people for not spelling correctly - Its not everybody's first language and its incredibly rude to do so! If you're not a grown up - act it!
Granted, the game is easy and has some annoying bugs, but then again RPG's are about building your uber character laughing manically! Not like vanilla Oblivion, where the rats kept leveling with you. That was terrible.
Oh and remember no spoilers means no spoilers! Ok, enough ranting.

What do you even mean stop playing it like an action game? Every single random encounter or world event had at most 2 - 3 dialogue options, most had a big fat zero. By 'play it like an rpg' do you mean stand around staring at the sky? Wheeling the camera around for 20 minutes at a time?
Get a clue dude, the expansion lacked content. Lacked depth. Thus, lacked value. That is why people think of it as a failure. Just look at the ultra abrupt ending and near complete lack of exposition as far as the story goes.

But lets be honest the story was kinda not there I mean really there were no attempt at store it was like the story was thrown at you randomly.. also you had the feeling while playing that you were inside you own bubble universe where you can, and by that I mean it didn't feel like there where anything outside.. I mean taking DA:O as an example you feel very small, like what am i going to do against a horde but in awaking it was like oh sure lets 4 man the entire horde no prob dude!

I missed the deep of the main game, the relations and the dialogues. Shame, anyway, maybe something really better will be released in the future.

dude no ones ranting or being rude to each other so far on this forum, as far as see, everyone here on this page is just expressing there concerns about the game, you're the only one whinning/ranting here on this page, dissing and insulting people, this stuff is not part of this forum or its subject. Don't get extremely upset if you disagree with someone, there are better ways how to handle it. And throwing out exclamation marks and telling people to get jobs is just... alittle immature because its condescending behavior. Trying not to insult you, but thats how you're coming off. I wont say anything further regarding this

And NoAngel89 is correct: hardly anyone is ranting or angry with another's opinion, we're just citing our reasons for rating the game as Epic or an Epic Fail. I would've prefered BioWare took an extra 3 or 4 months to work out the bugs and lackluster character interaction and story. I really hope whatever's happening in 2011 for Dragon Age is where their focus has been. I hope they run this with the Mass Effect 2 engine and work out the bugs and customer relations with PS3 users (and PC and Xbox 360 if things are going poorly there, as well).
This game can make for an extraordinary series if they put their best foot forward. This series is no longer a gamble. They know people will buy it now. So, it's time to do future products justice and make this series incredible. They can now spend more money to make improvements since they know the returns will justify the investment. Bioware, do the right thing. Please.

They told us the reason why the Mabari won't be there...budget ...cutscenes are fairly expensive to produce..an expansion has a limited budget.
Dog was all about cutscenes, ANY interaction you had with him was a cutscene. Thats why.
But that was also stated here on the forums a few times. I gather you don't keep up with news.
There is a difference between keeping up with the news and not liking what you are told. How can a followup to a game that went triple platinum have a limited budget? Why bother, at that point?

My second play through I decided I would painstakingly complete every quest using my knowledge of the games events from the first play through so as to maximize the benefit and not to enter the final stage before I had experienced all the quests.
I managed to finished every quest except 1.
I changed my opinion of the expansion some after the second time through. The second play through took me just over 18 hours of play time in the hard setting. My first impressions of this expansion was that it was at best a $ 15.00 DLC. Well I was wrong.
I still think the 40 dollar price tag was a little high maybe $29.99 would be a better value for the amount of content.
The new system for cut scenes with companions is tedious. I enjoy the cut scenes personally and look forward to having earned one. So to have to keep my eyes peeled for a Rock or a Statue that highlights or a flying boat etc. is a bit silly. I know this is what added to my displeasure in my first play through as I didn't take the time to hold tab and look and around all the time. A system that lets you know a conversation is available wold be a welcome addition.
While some of the quests were kind tossed in it seemed, many of the main quests were enjoyable as were the few areas for adventures. The fights even in Hard mode were actually easy. Especially with the uber gear from doing all of the quests.
Rune crafting is a neat idea but the logic of having to make so many lesser runes to get a more powerful rune is just a time sink. Better to make the tracings harder to get from fighting boss mobs than to require me to make 50 runes to get one.
All in all My extremely negative first impression of Awakenings has been replaced with a moderately favorable one.
So with that said I take back every other bad thing I said about it.

I went to rent this game at the local rental place because I refuse to donate $40 for what was sure to be beaten in a few short hours. .
I guess you don't buy any videogames then? Since DAO A is longer than 99% of single player games on the market, and those are all 50-60 you must not play anything?
You're right, I don't buy a lot of video games, at least not when they come out because games are a rip off these days for one. But when I do buy games, they are strictly games that are sure to bring me more than 4 hours worth of entertainment value. Most of the games I purchase are RPG's from trusted companies. Although after Awakening, I guess you can't trust anyone since at one time I had BIOWARE in that "trusted companies" category. But to justify what I've said, here's a run down of all the games I've bought in the last year. Origins, Final Fantasy XIII, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Tekken 6, and yeah, that's it. 2nd. Your assessment of games is clearly based in comparison to action/shooter games. Which in today's market are geared towards multiplayer. People don't buy Call of Duty for single player. So obviously the single player modes aren't worth crap. Why waste time on them when you know it's not what your consumer is purchasing it for.

Obviously you only want attention otherwise you would not be on its General Discussion forum. If you dont like the game then fine dont like it but dont go around saying "Oh Boohoo this game is bad! Waah waah waah!" If you dont like the food from a takeaway you dont run out in front of it and shout "Waah the pizza is to cheesy. Waah waah". Now go buy something else if you dont like it nobody was holding a gun to your head saying buy it or else so it was your choice obviously. Nobody ripped you off!

What's the purpose of these forums if not for BIOWARE to acquire feedback from it's consumers? Would you prefer BIOWARE stay in the dark to anything it's consumers think or feel? Cause that's how you make improvements. In response to the guy who said he thought BIOWARE might be hiding something by shutting down threads that bash Awakening. I was preaching this same stuff 2 months ago when BIOWARE refused to set a number on how long Awakening would take, when they so graciously bragged how long one would spend in Origins. It was clearly obvious they knew they were putting out something cheap and short and they knew it.

Plus some people just moan it was overpriced as if someone was threatening them into buying it! It was their choice nobody forced them to buy it.

I like the Dragon Age saga myself ,as I am sure do most of the people who come here to discus, argue or complain about it , otherwise what would be the point of coming to the Dragon Age forum? I know it was reading others input on the forums that made me replay and then rethink my opinion of the game.
I do not expect Bioware to take my advice singularly but if enough people have a similar suggestion perhaps in future installments we may see some of these ideas come to fruition.
