But its not all feedback is it? Some people just moan about it for no particular reason! Some guy before moaning you cant get back into the Silverite Mine but then there were so many places in Origins you could only go to once and i never saw anyone complain about that.

Plus some people just moan it was overpriced as if someone was threatening them into buying it! It was their choice nobody forced them to buy it.

Meh, I didn't buy it. I was going to get it on release but now I'm going to wait until it hits the bargain bin. Just to complete the DA collection I guess. Awakenings is no longer appealing to me though.

Instead I bought mass effect 1 and 2  for the same price as awakenings. Saying that I guess I haven't really completely given up on Bioware but at this moment I'm very disappointed in them for releasing something as mediocre as Awakenings.

Still to me it's more an add-on that is a spinoff of DA:O.

The bottom line is there is 20-30 hours of single player content here. Even people who "hate" it are playing it 2-3x over.

How bad can it be if people put in 30 hours to a game? I mean you must really be insane to spend 30 hours doing something you hate

Fallout 3 had a decent story but let's not kid ourselves it was pretty shallow with practically no twists or turns. Exploring DC was one hell of a joy ride though :)

Fallout 3 is driven by the mod community.  Amazing stuff to be had.  If you one of those gamers who strictly play vanilla even on your 2nd and 3rd playthru, boy are you missing out.  Feel sorry for console gamers, haha

Do a search for Real Time Settler Mod for Fallout 3.  Amazing, just amazing.

just finished awakening, well to give a after war feel it was okay.. to have something to munch on while waiting DA2, well that was way not enough. at some point i think the guys at bioware don't know in what mess they are in, with a game creating reactions of that magnitude , they got lots of work to pull off a sequel as epic as the first one. awakening was just to play a bit more with some new stuff and higher level cap..dlc or expansion the only must have is DAO

All bioware had to do was give us more of origins with some new quests/adventures. Instead they epic failed by bringing back the worst companion from origins, and no romance and a bad story with bad NPC interactions.

Well, I've logged in some more hours, and it's growing on me little by little. It still has many flaws, but I see ideas (like a tweaked runecraft experience and adding instance character dialoguein addition to old conversation system) that should be added to future titles. Bugs are still out of control, but load times seem a little better than right after I downloaded PS3 patch. BlackMarsh changed my feelings, alot. During that, I almost felt like I was back in DA:O again. Also, the major players making appearances made the journey more interesting, but should play a bigger part than just a cut-scene here and there. Some areas were clearly un-finished and down-right ugly. Abilities are still way broken, but interesting templates for future titles to tweak to perfection. Making 3 Rogue Archers with Song of Courage, Acuracy and Find Weakness (or whatever it's called) all set to ScatterShot and BurstShot any enemy (all for 200 and 300 damage plus stuns) really makes encounters max-out at 5 seconds or 10s to 15s if Bosses are involved. Just too God-Mod to be much fun after a few times, but I like that Archer was at least buffed from DA:O.

All in all, I think I will change my opinion from Epic Fail to Decent Fun with an Un-finished Product. I actually like it enough to start an Orlesian playthrough, so it's not bad.

I'm at the end of the game and I don't hate it but I don't like it either.  It was a good yarn for the money (I'm in the UK)

I wouldn't call it an expansion, because in my opinion with an expansion you take your party with you, even if you leave most of your inventory behind.  To me it's just a mini game and I certainly wouldn't want to take my character into another game.

If the epilogue's in DAO are to be believed (yes I know it's a game) Alastair and Zevren should both have been in Awakening, as I chose to stay with Alastair to rebuild the GWs and in all my play throughs Zevren chose to come along and help rebuild and who gives there Mabari away!!! it doesn't make sense that they didn't carry through to the "expansion".

I prefered the camp in DAO even if it was always dark and a bit depressing, it was easier to sort out the armour for the whole party at the same time in camp.  Having to go in and out of the keep with 3 at a time got really boring, the same thing with gift giving.

As for the dialogue I prefered DAO, because I found I didn't have to talk to them if I didn't want to.  If someone had something to say they usually accosted me when we went back to camp, of if I clicked on one of them.  Plus I found by giving specific gifts eg. Morrigan and the mirror without me having to quiz them by asking questions first, they would tell me their story, which left me free to ask other questions to bump up the friendship bar.

I found several bugs, but all new games have bugs and I'm sure a patch will come out soon, but I have to say I'm not inspired to play it again.

I don't know if this was a bug or not, but I imported one of my characters who was a mage and on starting the game found myself in a battle with no staff, thanks Bioware

That's my 2 pence worth, I hope Bioware read some of these posts for furture mini games/expansions.

The content itself is great, however the amount of bugs/glitches in the game are horrendous. I have yet to NOT experience the approval bug in any playthrough, which is causing companion side quests to be inaccessible.

Bioware gets an A for content, but a F for bug testing. It's pretty bad when you feel like a game/expansion wasn't even bugtested before it was put out into stores.

The expansion was fail

-Too Short

-Too Buggy

Only two things really, but they were big, BIG ones.

Might not be so bad, but Bioware doesn't even throw the people they ripped off a bone saying "Hey, at least we are TRYING to fix this..."

That too is disheartening. The lack of response or even acknowledgement that they're working to fix the mess.

At least they saved money on bug testing. Have your customers do it for you!

While I was not displeased with Awakening, I felt it was to short for the price, I had 100% completion including all side quests in just over 10 hours.  I will probably play back through it once more, just to get the 1 last achievement I missed because I saved the keep and not the city.

For me, the expansion was an epic fail.

I just can't get the felling it IS an expansion-It looks like a cheap module to me: A lot of bugs, the story is really short, and all the decisions you make in Origins don't make any difference there.

The whole idea of the story(talking and divided darkspawn) would have made a great game, but it looks like Bioware wasn't very sucessfull.

I hated the new conversation system (why the hell do we have to talk to our companions through status or vegetation? It doesn't make any sense to me).

And also this: this isn't an expasion because Awakening just can't improve Origins gameplay. You can't have the new specializations, gear, or ANYTHING into Origins. The only connection with the original game is to import your character(which is pretty lame, since the story doesn't change much than theOrlesian Warden's). Bioware could make of it a stand alone game, it wouldn't be to different.

Well, now I sayed it Image IPB

I never had high hopes for Awakening but still managed to be dissapointed severely. The story was hasty, shallow, illogical, uninteresting.

The characters were not only uninteresting but also incredibly shallow. The new type of interaction and influence system was crap too. Never managed to finish Ohgren's loayalty quest because of it. I simply do not get why not just use the old companions. It wouldn't have taken that much brainstorming. Alistair, Dog, Leliana, Wynne, Shale, Zhevran - totally doable.

Lack of romances and real companion interaction made me simply not care about the companions. I just picked whoever kicked ass in the group the most. Which I never did in Origins, in that original game I roleplayed and used the companions I LIKED.

Having a raised level cap was in my eyes more or less unneeded. The amount of skills/spells was totally insane towards the end and I must ask...what is the point of having like 10 upkeep skills when they nearly drain all of your mana/stamina? Just saying. And no I did not use stamina potions. They didn't even excist in Origins so why the hell did they suddenly have to invent it? Instead of spamming 2 potions, now I have to spam 3?

There's a lot of bugs too. This expansion needs a lot of updating. Origins crashed on me maybe twice, Awakening did maybe like 10 times or so?

Guess this piece just wasn't my piece of gum. I prefer RPGs to be just that: ROLEplaying games. Not actiongames. There's ever so many Overwhelm maggots a person can stand.

My wishlist for DA2:

- Remove Overwhelm

Anyways this is just my personal opinion. I just hope that DA2 won't follow this same direction.

I have to agree on this point, towards the end I didn't care what I clicked on to level up as long as I could shut the level up window and that's sad in a game to loose interest like that and I used the new stamina potions once, not really sure why only once, perhaps because the game was too short to get used to having them, who knows.

I think the main issue is that it feels rushed. And has some retarded design decision made to speed the main story forward. For example I can't join Velanna after having made the quest for her, because then the last stand takes place.

You can give gifts and change gear in the Vigil hall. You just can't have other characters pull up radial menu (at least, on PS3). The worst is trying to Rune Craft if your PC isn't the one crafting. That was the worst! Image IPB

I think I will either trade this in or take a month off before trying the Orlesian. I started one, but was over-swept with the dread of having to run through this again. Funny, because I played DA:O three times before it got old.

Well, on the bright side the only direction BioWare can go is up. A good thing though when BioWare's "Epic Fail" is better than half the products out on the market.

I personally love Origins and like Awakening. Although it isn't as good as Origins, it's still far better then most games currently available on the market.

Regarding DLC I have to admit that I was a little bit disappointed with RtO, but SP and WK are very well done.

The thing about haters is they can't actually create anything or produce anything in their own lives.  All they can do is hate on other's works.  It's the nature of hating.

[/quote]
Actually, that is not true.  One can not assume 'haters" do not create anything.   Usually, those that point out flaws and identify areas that need improvement are people who are also engaged in creative projects themselves.  The non-creators are more likely to be the blind following 'fanboys'.    I am not here to complain about the game....I love just about everything Bioware does.  I am just defending the rights of people to make constructive comments and complain if they are unhappy with a direction a franchise is going.  I just spent a couple months ripping Cryptic 'a new one' over the disaster Star Trek...if they ever listen to the complainers they might be able to fix the game.

P.S.  I have not purchased Awakening yet....I am reading the forum here to decide when and if or how long I wait for the price to go down.

It was tripe. It felt *nothing* like Origins to me. No spoilers, promise, but here's a quick list of my issues with it.

1) Way too short, both for the price and given what an epic story it followed. I had over 60 hours played on my first full game (third restart) of Origins. I beat Awakening on the first go in under 12.

2) Not interactive enough: They took out romances, they took out the in-depth conversations you could have with your party members, there aren't anywhere near as many plot affecting decisions...

3) They did almost no new work. Most of the gifts are just things from the last game that were items, all the old quest rewards are purchasable as gear on the streets now, there are no deep quest chains...

4) Where is dog? Did he die, did Allistair adopt him, did he run away...? What? He's supposed to be the loyal best friend type, but BioWare just trashed that.

5) Anyone else really sick of getting tricked/shoved forcefully into the Fade by a demon? Surely there are other places we can fight big baddies.

The potential for DAO's epicness was here. BioWare just seemed to want to put out enough to milk the cash cow more. Not worth it IMO.
