For those who have issues with increasing load times. I fixed it on my end by removing all my back up saves in the my documents/bioware folder. I just cut them and pasted them into a folder on my desktop. Leaving only my current save. This took care of the issue for me.

I wish they never made Awakening.

In fairness to Bioware, Awakening was a good expansion but left too many questions unanswered and has left me hanging and wanting more.

No, Awakening is not an epic-fail kind of expansion, only the wayward DA engine is the epic fail this time.

I felt that Awakening took priority off of party member development, which was (for me, anyway) one of the things that really set Origins apart from many other RPGs.

I stop at Origins now and will have nothing to do with DA:A.

It would have been a great first act of a game, but as an entire package it was a let down.

I have to vote epic fail, not only is the xpack not worth the price, but it breaks parts of the original game. The xpack is very brief, just not much there, and all sorts of lost dlc items. This bleeds over into the original game as well now. dlc items not saved at saves, full or quick. Ogren beating things with his fists just don't cut it. Alistar running around naked would be funny if I had not paid for the dlc. I wish I had known then what I know now, what a waste of money. There are some work arounds for those with the skills and patience to do so, I have neither. I paid for entertainment, not education.

I thought Awakening was really good and enjoyed it. In some ways the story and villains were more intriguing than in Origins. However, the bugginess is preventing me from doing a second playthrough. I couldn't complete at least one quest because of strange bugs and also could not do one of the companions' joining rituals when the game cut forward. These really need to be sorted because otherwise I thought DA:A was really good and I'm no pushover fanboy. Next time I must kill that dragon that toasted me and I forgot to go back and kill. However, I won't be playing it again until a patch is released fixing the bugs and crashes.

I have to say that reading some a few pages has made me happy in my choice to not make this purchase as I was eying it currently. But with what I'm hearing with DA2 I don't think it's worth it anymore. Also a huge selling point (in this case refusal to purchase point) for me was reading about the castle and how I'd have to take care of it and all. Sounded too much...too much like Crossroads Keep (or at least the experience I had with it ex: long loading times) and that, above all else, was enough to turn me away. I have no interest in micromanaging a building, fixing it up and going out on quests and checking back frequently for updates. Hated it the first time.

I loved it. The transition from Origins to Awakening could have been smoother, and the choices from the Origins could have been more present, but overall I enjoyed it thoroughly. The story did well at avoiding the typical "defeat an ancient evil" storyline in favour of more unpredictability and moral greys. Perhaps the story could have lasted a little longer, considering the vaslty new story elements and interesting characters it involves (I wanted to see more Architect and talking darkspawn). Nevertheless, definitely worth buying.

Fallout 3 had a decent story but let's not kid ourselves it was pretty shallow with practically no twists or turns. Exploring DC was one hell of a joy ride though :)

Indeed. The triumph of Fallout 3 wasn't its storyline but how much fun it was just to explore its map. Most games aren't nearly as much fun for me once I finish the main campaign but Fallout 3 makes you want to go everywhere.

All bioware had to do was give us more of origins with some new quests/adventures. Instead they epic failed by bringing back the worst companion from origins, and no romance and a bad story with bad NPC interactions.

Belated ... but agreed, agreed, and agreed again.

Not sure I can agree about Oghren being a bad companion, but I definitely disagree about the lack of romance and the NPC interactions; I would far rather have no romance in an expansion if the main game's love interest isn't in it than have a meaningless fling, and have less companion interaction if it means not having to say "never mind" if I accidentally click on a companion while looting.

I genuinely like Awakening. Out of my eight playthroughs I have finished Awakening four times (pc, xbox and ps3 all represented). And what I find odd is that during these playthroughs I have not bumped to any serious bugs besides one invisible wall in Wending Woods which went away in little while after the fight was over and a lack of that one armor.

I must be special - how cute. All of my platforms had Warden's Keep installed and enabled and still Sentinel armor displayed correctly and I have encountered few cosmetic bugs that have no actual effect on the playability - I seriously do not care if the hand freezes if the spell is cast normally when it returned normal in those odd times after a while.. In all areas I am close to perfectionist but in this case if I ponder too much of these they would annoy me and thus as a result eventually affect the replaying value but instead now I still think its 100% worth of money and I will play the rest of the characters through at some point as well.

The lack of Origin -type conversations is truly a sad thing: I hate to admit it but Anders is my favourite characters overall - being even more interesting than Alistair who I end up with practically every time (except last playthrough when I finally stopped the cycle and recruited Loghain and became the pen pal of Zevran).

The lack of further interraction with these new companions always eats me. I do not need romance to be satisfied but even more plans of knitting and pride of Mr wiggams taking down Templars would have been needed.

And then there is the difficulty. On nightmare-difficulty the fight with mother and I am still drinking my cup of coffee with one hand and playing with the other and its still a walk in the park (with darkspawn). In general I would have liked to fight more. I love those fights when you get the feel you better take a shower as you must soon go to computer store to buy a new computer after unfortunate event of sledgehammer flying across the room straight on the computer - like the golems room in Golems.

And yes, the expansion was short, but I did not expect it to be a new Origins either. And I am one of those who can wander around aimlessly for hours (I am at my worst when playing Baldur's Gates - better not leave black spot on the maps...). More tasks or random counters in new areas and more fights in them would have massively increased the value of the expansion.

And then.. Well. I just do not like Oghren. The strenght of Alistair or Zevran as characters is that they were funny along the normal conversations without trying to be funny- it was the way they dealt with everything.

They did not have to try to be funny as such as the "personality" carried them all the way. Oghren as a comic relief is a dead end for me. I did not use him in Origins and I left him to the Keep in Awakening. I rather fight with group of three before others join me than use him to be honest

- apart from the few conversations with Anders that were plain funny he remains as hollow as he was in Origins.

I shall however try to play more Awakening on my characters now when on this last playthrough I have some conveniency & other mods installed (autoloot, Dalish origin, blahblahblah). Before I only used hairstyles and other beautification mods that had limited effect on game apart from being prettyyyy). Maybe the problems with those bugs arise then.

Found Cake to those who reached the end of this long post.

Warden: *clicks on a corpse to loot*
Wynne: You two are quite fond of each other.
Warden: Me and this dead hurlock? Nah, I'm just feeling him up for his loose change. We'll probably never see each other again.

Seriously, I almost always get Wynne's lecture about my budding relationship with my LI during an attempt to loot a corpse, making an already annoying conversation even more annoying.

THIS!

What is it with companions that have to stand on the dead?! Are they wiping the blood from their boots? Is that why the corpse is glowing?

I liked Awakening a lot. Especially the bits where you're ruling Amaranthine or building up the keep, or deciding where to put troops and such. That was really, really neat. Although I will say that if they had dedicated an entire game to that, I would have been pleased.

Haha I don't know how many times I reloaded because I accidentally clicked on Wynne.  When I was finally able to make Morrigan the healer Wynne spent the rest of the game having a browbeating contest with Sten at camp.

I just finished Awakening, and I must say that I found it rather enjoyable. I only encountered three errors during my play through, but only one that's worth calling a problem (the other two where minor; sentinel armor looks and the quest Bombs Away! not clearing from the log after completion).

The only real problem I encountered was that, after hours and hours of trying to get Velanna's companion quest to start, the infamous encounter on the road, I just had to give up. This was the only thing that really bothered me. But I'm not even sure if it's a bug, it might just be that I had her join me too late or that doing some quest (as is the case with Sigrun) will prevent you from getting your companions encounter. Seems like noone knows for certain, and that many have had this problem. Image IPB

Overall though, it was a fun adventure and I will replay it again with other Origins characters. I might even try the Orlesian origin some time. But it also gave a feeling of "not quite done", like it would have needed more testing and tweaks before release. A shame, considering I’ve had no problems with Origins or previous DLC content.

I just started playing Dragon Age again, really after not playing since like when it came out. I have not purchased any of the DLC or the Awakening story. I was considering, but after reading everyone posts, I am on the fence. I really wish more than anything there were options to have more free style adventures with the existing characters than whole new games.
