Nice attitude.
If you don't think it's worth playing then don't buy it.
If you want to play it, then buy it.
Software engineers deserve to get paid for their work if you're going to use their stuff.

This would be true, if you want to use some archaic business model that is in no way applicable to the 21 century, at least as far as electronic media goes.  I "demo" every game before I buy it, I think you can tell by my gamer tag that I considered DAO and ME worth supporting the company for.  I consider it a donation to a worthy cuase, rather than buying a product, tens of millions of others play by the same rules.   You may have moral objections to it, but you can't deny that it is the reality game developers have to live with.  I actualy consider it more moraly acceptable than past incarnations of capitalism, it's definetly more empowering to the consumer.

rationalized stealing is still stealing. you just make yourself feel better is all.

Amen. If capitalism is keeping you from eating, then by all means steal a piece of bread. But no one has a right to play a video game-- if you can't afford $40 get a better job or find cheaper forms of entertainment.

For all the KOTOR 2 talk-- the abrupt, obnoxious ending wasn't the game's only fault btw. Even on the hardest difficulty, it was also obscenely easy.  One of the Sith Lord bosses who was built up to basically devour entire planets could be killed in about two hits with a lightsaber-- you could even walk up to him unarmed and easily karate chop him to death.  That game had an incredible story but was a good reminder that video games are not books and the basics are important too.

As far as Awakening-- I haven't gotten to buy it yet, I fully intend to soon.  The only complaint I have seen that has merit is how they handled dead wardens, which seems to have been a bad decision but fortunately doesn't affect me as my first playthrough warden is still alive.  Personally I don't consider some DLC armor not transfering through as being a game breaking disaster worthy of throwing a temper tantrum on an internet forum, and if some archery abilities are overpowered then I just won't use them.

for all the kotor 2 talk? did you miss the part where bioware didnt make made kotor 2?

jesus, you people will cry about anything because you think having money means someone will listen to you, they don't care about you. everyone has 40 dollars, it costs more than 40 dollars for a night out. Get real and just dont cry like a little baby and move on to something you won't cry like a little baby about.

For those not paying attention, note that I did actually buy awakening and register it. I wish I hadn't, but thems the breaks. Software "engineers" deserve to get paid equivalent to the quality of their work. Entitlement to nothing for showing up to work and willfully releasing software in this state. Shameful.

I highly doubt the software engineers, or the writers, or the lead programmers have royalty collection contracts. Between the customer and the dev team there is the retailer, the distributor, and the publisher (along with a host of other middle managers). The Bioware crews are going to get paid until they get fired or get burned out and quit (which is usually what happens a few years after EA takes over a company). If Dragon Age continues to sell for several years, EA will be reaping the profits, not the dev team.

I am just starting out and I am noticing bugs.
Wardens Keep powers still have icons but there is an error with the names and they don't fully activate. At least on a rogue the animation starts but that is all.
Also the backpacks you can buy in your estate don't correctly add to your limit
The text says it will be +10 for a bag but if you buy a bag you only get +5.
If you buy both you will still only get +5.
If you only buy one bag it is still only +5 and the other will disappear from the stores inventory never to be seen again.

I am only couple hours in and I am not even trying to find bugs.

If you're going from 120 to 125, that's by design.  125 is max for inventory slots.  Warden's Keep abilities are DLC and as such weren't intended to cross over.

Incorrect.  Warden Keep abilities were intented to cross over, but are currently bugged from what I understand (the animations still work).  For that matter DLC items were never "not intented" to cross over it was a programming problem that they didn't priotize in fixing.  After all, RTO DLC items do work.

LOL! And agreed. On all counts.

I played for about five hours last night (regretting that today) and I'm experiencing nothing wrong and loving it.
I also loved KotOR 2!B)

Yeah all this DAO is making me want to go back and restart KOTOR and KOTOR 2 as soon as I finish Awake

Fair enough, but you can see how using that word in this context is extremely confusing.  Also from what I understand, I think they are going to "get around" to fixing it in a later patch.  Although I almost wonder if it is even worth it at that point.

I have really enjoyed Awakenings so far. Although I do think they should have made you start a new character - That would have cleared up most of the complaining of issues/bugs and just left it as a seperate story that takes place after Origins.

The one bug I found I thought was interesting. Nathaniel mentions "King Alister" while in Prison yet Alister died when he killed the ArchDemon. He was king for like 2 days and Cailin's wife is queen is now Queen and did the opening meeting at the keep,

PS I also prefered KOTOR 2 - sure Obsidian games have some bugs but they also have some interesting and different types of stories

The install process had its problems. 36 error and then menu option greyed out.

The official DLC of the original doesn't work well. Considering the cost of it all it bloody well should.

Pickpocketing.

On hard it is a simple mash through em fest with an overload of skills and gear that isn't necessary.

People I've never met before sound identical to people I met in DAO.

Both an in camp chest and re skill system are in place which should have always existed in the original.

Not all bugs but definitely a could do better.

This expansion has been a real letdown for me. It's too short ( I finished it in about 12 hours ), It's buggy ( Game crashes, graphics missing in cut scenes and some environments ), the story line isn't that interesting. There was no real depth to the characters. The DLC content not converting is pure laziness ( There is a patch made by one of the forum users that fixes the problem in a few seconds ), considering that that content was bought to enhance the game, not having in convert over defeats the purpose. For those that love the expansion, I'm happy for you. However I think that for $44.00 they could have put more than a half-hearted effort into the project. It could have been so much more than it is.

44 dollars? Could be the first time that we euros dont pay much more? cause it costed me 30 euros, which are the same aproximately. And normally game companies think 1 dollar=1euro.

About the game, didnt find many bugs, apart from blood abilities not transfering and after the epilogue the last scene repeting over and over and over etc (mashing esc several times fixed it apparently).

Incorrect!.

The DLC items were coded purposly so they would not xfer over, its was a design feature. Bioware di not want you to have those features. When the **** hit the fan (as PS3 users still had not got RtO at that point) they allowed RtO items to port over, they were afraid of losing money.

Funny how within a day of Awakening's being available, there was a mod on the NExus that alows you to import all your DLC items, its a simple cire resource issue with the items. Like I said, Bioware purposly made them so they would not import, coding errors? problems? get real.

Maviarab, I suggest you actually look at the extensions and the resources in the toolset before spouting such rubbish. It's blatantly clear that the issue with the DLC stuff was stemming from an oversight, not some dastardly plan to stop our DLC stuff from porting over. It's to do with what entities can access certain resources.

Think it through, man. If they'd set things up in such a way to stop them transferring, do you *really* think it would have taken some modder a few hours to completely undo it?

Geez...

While it is great that some people are playing bug and crash free - realize that many others are not having the same smooth experience. Just because it isn't broken for you, doesn't mean it isn't broken for someone else.

I am a BioWare fan and I love DA:O - but since the 1.03 patch I have been crashing often, something that NEVER happened before. Not everyone is crashing though, so BioWare has a tough job ahead of them trying to find out what is causing this issue [not an easy task with the tons of hardware/software/OS combinations out there]. It _is_ patch related, whether or not people want to believe that the people having bugs are 'off' or whatever.

So, in short - don't dismiss people saying they have major bugs or crashing just because you haven't experienced any. Please.

And to those experiencing problems - ranting and raving while providing no information is NOT helpful in finding the issues and stomping them out. Provide concise and informative data and then BioWare may be able to find the problem area(s) - all ranting does is get 'discussions' heated up for no reason.

No problem at Dragon Age : Origins and no problem at all by Awakening. But I noticed many strange differenties between Windows XP and Windows 7 ( 64 ) ultimate edition . But anyway , if I may ask You guys to point me in the direction beacuse I have written almost a small book , about Dragon Age where to post it ? Or where to show it so the designers may see it , anyone has any suggestion ? Thank You very much

That's a rather flawed view of morality and capitalism. You've taken the morality out of it - either way (deciding to purchase or not) the fact remains you played the game. Now if there is an official demo than by all means try it out, but if not you just have to go off word of mouth and reviews.  There are many games that are complete junk, and shouldn't be sold. It reflects poorly on the industry, but does not mean that stealing is acceptable. Another problem is it is often difficult to return games if the don't work or are extremely buggy, it is not acceptable business practice - but one consumers can change by not supporting companies that do this.

As far as Awakening, I've not yet had any problems or ran into bugs with it yet. I haven't finished it so I could still find something.  The story to this point has been interesting, but the world does seem much less involved and I'm disappointed in not all decisions or results carrying over from Origins (especially since ME2 did such a good job). I may change my mind after finishing, but so far I think it has been worth my money.

Pc bugs are an understatment in fact the game is down right flawed. As for price of game consider if you never played Dragon age it will cost you close to 90.00 to play the game and expansion. The expansion should of been about 12.00 14.00 to pay 39.99 for this expansion. I had to be out of my mind. Even the end sucks you get no victory award no speech just text and game over. I think a lot of the issues like romance are because Bioware losts it male anatomical parts and had to bend its will to make quality game to the whiners who let childeren play a nc 17 game.

Some of the bugs I have noticed

1. party if a party member dies and you need to move more then say 10 feet from body the game lags out or if your moving thru terrain they get stuck you lag out. This proves to make a lot of combat very long fights. The game slows down very much in black marsh area and knotwood hills.

the screen blacks out in the broodmother hive when the architect is there and after fight is prety anticlimatic nothing no frills nothing. just some mis typed words and what not.
