[VanguardXIV]

Im just wondering what is the best squad to use with the vanguard, I want to use liara and garrus but I dont know if they both or each of them has something for hacking, I put Sniper rifles on him, since I like sniping but I need to know for my new squad and my new game on ME1 who should I pick?

P.S. - For xbox and im going for acheivements and I already have kaidans achievement and Tali.

Vanguards are pretty good by themselves, but you need a techie in your squad. It'll take a while for Garrus to max his decryption/electronics - other than that he is a solid choice.

If you aren't going for companion achievements, you can pick the other party member to suit your personal preferences - Vanguard is a pretty solid class on its own.

I am currently playing my vanguard on hardcore from level 1. I use Shepard/Wrex/Tali and it is working out great. Sometimes I substitute out Wrex for Liara during the fights where it's incredibly hard to win without locking your opponent in biotics.

You have three choices for Techs, Kaidan, Garrus and Tali. They each have pros and cons. Garrus comes with adrenaline burst which can be nice but latter on it's just one more thing to manage and as a Vanguard already managing your own AB it's very easy to underutilise. He has possibly the worst survivability of any squad mate through most of the game with only electronics to buff his shields, though later on the better medium armours can make a big difference. Tali has hacking, like Garrus though she has poor survivability but she at least has her Quarian machinist shield bonus. She also has a shotgun which gives you an extra carnage though it will rarely actually work. Kaidan has the least tech available but is the only squadmate with medicine (neural shock has its moments) out of all the techs he has the best survivability thanks to barrier and he has Lift. He has poor weapon damage though.



Overall I would rank Kaidan as actually the best and Garrus the worst. Though I suggest Tali, along with Wrex for one reason (if you go Shotty Vanguard), Carnage. Shepard uses singularity Wrex fires off warp, chuck in an overload for good measure at the same time than have all three squad members carnage into the singularity. AB and do it again. Sounds great but in practice I would be surprised if it actually goes as planned as many as one in ten time and it's a grossly sub-optimal strategy. When all four carnage blasts land though it makes it all worth while.

Wrex and Tali for the shotty trio! 3 shotguns are just plain fun. And Like Devos said, try to use carnage when your target is floating, it seems to hit more then. Although, krogan move pretty slow when they aren't charging (and straight at you when they are), so they make good carnage targets too. Generally, though if you fire carnage at a target moving back and forth, you're gonna miss it.

Tali's one of the most powerful Tech's there is, and while her lack of armors can make survivability an issue. I've always concentrated on her Quarian Machinist so that it gets at least 1 or 2 points each level-up. Combine that with Liara's Biotics and I've gotten through 90% of my battles a lot easier, with only a few I had to use a diff't configuration in the party to win...

Liara + Kaidan until you get the Spectre gear or do not have Pinnacle Station.

Liara + Wrex when you have best gear or Pinnacle Station

I'm just about finished playing through my Singularity Vanguard Shepard's Insanity run with Wrex and Garrus as my squadmates. Has worked fine for me. Had my Vanguard not had Singularity as a bonus talent, I probably would have used Kaidan instead of Garrus for more crowd control.

it depends a bit by your build, if you are more defensive/weapon focused or more about biotics/CC



personally i prefer Tali over garrus as tech char (expecially when you give her a colossus armor) for the second char you have lot of options...



Tali/Garrus+Liara is generally a good combo for most classes, expecially if you can dish out some decent dmg by yourself

Tali+Garrus is another good combo if you are strong in biotics as 2 techs works well togather(and for luna)

Tali+Wrex is a good combo too, they are probably the strongest ME1 chars so you cant go wrong with this
