Just curious, who bought Awakenings for the Xbox 306 and why did you buy it?

I saw it on the shelf today (Australian release) and with a price tag of $60 I didn't even bother to pick it up and have a look at the back.

Is there anyone else, like myself, who will be waiting until they fix DA:O before they even consider buying this expansion?

I'm waiting.

For DA:O to be fixed, or for Awakenings to be sold for 99p by some p!ssed fans on Ebay :P

Until they actually fix origins I'm not really interested in the expansion, especially at the ridiculous price, plus they didn't do sh*t to fix any bugs, didn't even give us the dam patch that's been out for 3 months (1.02) which fixes dex.

Like Huojin I'll check around on ebay and if I find a copy for a dollar or something I'll get it, other than that I'll wait for it to fail and pick it up in a bargain bin somewhere for $5-10.
I ended up grabbing FFXIII instead of the expansion and I'm glad I did, fun game and instead of a buggy 15 hour expansion I got a game that I'm 70 hours into and still have things to do and haven't seen any bugs yet either.

I love ME2 and DAO (even with the bugs) - What I am not happy about is DLC and expansions. Bioware seems to do a poor job on these.

I dont have it yet and this is a MOJOR reason why. I can get a complete game like Fallout 3 GOTY or FF XIII (many game hours) for only 10-20 bucks more than this expansion costs us. For someone on a tight budget (me) this expansion is coming in at too high a price. Shave $10 or $15 off and then we would be in business.

Edit.   Having said all that if I can manage to make enough money on the side then I might go ahead and get this anyway. I love Dragon Age so it's killing me not being able to play this right now.

Well, I did buy it. And since the purported patch included did not actually fix what was reported to fix...it will be the last purchase I make on this franchise until they start fixing things.

I'm going to play morrowind or Fallout3 or something else. This is really frustrating. It's not that they dont' fix the things (though it is) but that they usually don't even recognize us.

I bought it. $40 US. I just purchased DAO last month, so I was super excited for Awakenings. I was pretty let down though. It feels more like a low-budget brief sequel than an expansion. There was also way too many glaringly obvious bugs. It seems like they didn't test it enough. That is how many EA games are though, they say "we have a deadline, we don't care if it's not ready, people will buy it anyway, and we can patch it later." The way EA operates, if the game isn't fixed in the first 6 months, expect it to NEVER be fixed, since they will cut their budget and move them on to the next project. It was an ok game as a standalone spinoff, but not worth $40. I wish had waited for the price to drop to around $20.

I will not purchase it until they fix origins. And even then, I'll wait to get it from the bargin bin. 45 - 60$ is WAY to much of a risk considering the how much bad press the expansion has recieved.

I used the money I had for Awakening and put it down on Alpha Protocol and parts for my new car. Traded in DA:O and ME2 for FFXIII, will pick both games up again when they are bundled together when they are fixed and cheaper.

I was about to, when i assumed it would cost £20 like every other expansion pack, then i saw it was retailing for £30 here in the UK (the full game cost £40 when released) so decided they go go shove their heads up a dead bears backside.

I mean, £30 for an expansion - WTF? I bought Shivering Isles a few years ago a lot cheaper than that and by all accounts, it's around twice the size. I'll wait until it drops to £20 (like every other expansion) before parting with my cash.

Anyone that pays full retail price for this is a mug and is merely encouraging this sort of pricing.

Whilst i don't play GTA IV myself, if Rockstar can churn out console expansions at a the normal price, then Bioware sure in hell can.

Thanks but no thanks.

I bought it on Xbox Live cause i did'nt want to have to switch disc constantly to play between origins and awakening. Paid 3200 microsoft points for it, which translate to around 45$ Can.

So I'm a nug or mug, whatever. Not quite worth $45 cdn but I was able to use the 2nd tier poison menu. My level 16 rogue had no trouble hitting lvl 30 so that's a lot of dead darkspawn. Forgot to check my hours but I was 20+ going into endgame with just a couple of fetch quests left undone.

My fav. area was Darkmarsh and Justice was my constant companion. I need to build a decent Arcane Warrior and try out Battlemage on Hard. Nightmare would be just that. Legionaire Scout had some nice perks. Enemies and gear are seriously ramped up.

But it's more of the same really, the price is high and the end boss has put me off breasts forever.

I am not getting it due to all the bugs in Origins that have went un-fixed. I never played such a buggy game in over 20 years.

Also waiting for the original game to be fixed, plus Awakening seems to have its fair share of bugs and glitches, way too many for my liking. I refuse to shell out money for a faulty product, and will not do so until I'm certain I can enjoy the expansion without worrying about this sort of crap ruining my gaming experience.

Exactly my thoughts.
This was being worked on before the original game was even released so it has most, if not all of the same bugs and some new ones too. From what I've read they are scanning these threads for bugs to fix, save corruption and the dex bug are by the top of the list. I am skeptical though, as there has been a fix for the dex bug for over three months. If the game is actually fixed and if  the expansion drops in price I'd consider buying it, but right now, bugs aside, $45 is just too much for what I think was a rushed product. Even with the bugs I still enjoy this game, but until I see some actual fixes/patches I just can't justify buying this.

Nope, not gonna happen! I flamed a lot, told everybody how bad Bioware supports their buggy, beta game and was very pessimistic about awakening... and yet again they have proven their fail.

But here is a impartial Review about it. thatguywiththeglasses.com/bt/aj/ajsreview/18979-dragon-age-awakening
