I know there's probaly so many other threads discussing this very topic, but I'm gonna post anyways. Its become a sort of ritual for me to post a little mini review of a game after I beat it lol

So a lot of people have been bashing this game, saying BioWare took the wrong direction in cutting down dialogue and having no romances. But they had to since Awakening is just an expansion, not a sequel. I personally liked the new system because it allowed you to learn about a character's story really good really fast. There was no beating around the bush, it was just straight up "here's my background, here's my mission". I'm not saying the new dialogue system should replace the old one, because I really like the old system as well, but simply that the new system should only be used in expansions/DLC.

Awakening had a very interesting storyline that tells you how the Blights began, and it introduced a pretty crazy idea: talking, intelligent darkspawn. For the majority of the game their origin is kept secret, but it all gets revealed in the end, and its a good story indeed. Some say that the story is choppy and hard to follow, but I disagree. I followed the story just fine and I never read any of Gaider's books beforehand.

There were a few glitches, for example:
  • After I helped Sigrun kill the darkspawn I got glitched under the map. I think the only thing that saved me was a cut scene being triggered
  • I'm pretty sure there's a quest involving a wraith that's glitched (can't complete it)
  • Some of the textures for things wouldn't load right. The background items (swords on backs, armors on stands) looked like a monkey coded them lol
  • On the end level one of my party members was talking and it just got dim and froze there for 10 seconds. I almost went berserk cuz I didn't have a recent save, but then it unfroze.
Overall, Awakening exceeded my expectations.  I wasn't expecting too much from just an expansion, but the story and the characters really drew me in. I wish I would've got some time with the new characters. BioWare did a good job of delivering very good content in a very short time without making anything feel *too* condensed. Although the game was a bit buggy, it wasn't anything gamebreaking (at least it wasn't for me).

Speculations on the little card with the cool blood dragon with the date "2.01.2011" under it? I'm thinking Dragon Age 2 Posted Image

I just noticed that card, I read the date but it didn't process that that is february next year, I thought it had something to do with the comic on the back. Hooray maybe DA 2, that would be ridiculously fast though.

[*]My guess would be another expansion, there was meant to be a cpl years content and Zeschuk did tend to indicate that DA2 will be using a new engine, which I don't believe is finished, so the chances of going from a new engine to a complete game in 6 months is a bit unlikely.
