I love it when a game designer changes a tried and true system yet doesn't model their product off industry standard.

As long as we’re on the subject, what did ya think of Mrs. Pac-Man?
I remember back in the early 80’s when I had scored all of
those points on Pac-Man, and then when I played Mrs. Pac-Man I had to start
from ZERO all over again! Jeez….what a disappointment THAT was! Now go figure the
reasoning behind THAT one out! Seriously……AGAIN? Oh, the utter cruelty of it
all!

Seriously dude, your supposed to be a moderator. You know, keeping everyone calm and trying to keep things from getting personal. This was not the way to respond.

Agree 100%. I was about to say this. It's not the first time I read this kind of "trolling" from him.

I don't really have anything to prove, but I have over 50 games in my steam account and just traded in 30 something Xbox 360 and PS2 titles that I finished so I could get Mass Effect 2 and Dead Rising 2. So yeah... long time gamer here.

Agreed. I wasn't even gonna post in this thread, but wow. Yeah that remark was not very becoming of a moderator.
OP simply wanted to state his opinion. It wasn't very well formed, but he has been updating the thread with his changing opinion. I found it an interesting thread for the most part considering how many other critics just disappear if they start to enjoy it instead of acknowledging that they may have been wrong.
It'd be nice to see more forum-goers realize that the game is still fairly new and people are still out buying it. Not everyone has been discussing the game for two months after all, and if someone wants to make a comment they can start a new thread and get beaten down for making redundant threads, or they can post to an old thread where they usually get beaten down for reviving dead threads. I'm of the belief that a person is free to offer their opinion regardless of when they get the game.
Oh and BTW OP, I'm glad you gave the game a chance to discover it's awesomeness. ME3 will hopefully find a harmonious balance of RPG/Shooter.

Actually, I have done programming, tweaked code and file settings (not cheating, just modding), installed mods on just about everything, used 3DS Max, Blender, Photoshop (quite a bit), RPG maker, and created simple platformers and FPS in the Unity development engine... but I do it for fun, not work.Kalfear wrote...

WASD - Movement

Mouse 2 - Aim
Space - Jump

3 - Submachinegun or Rifle
4 - Snipe

I'm not dumb and I realize that Mass Effect is an RPG. That explains why we have to switch weapons using the command interface. It doesn't explain why keys 1,2,3, and 4 are not bindable like they were in the last game, or in pretty much every other FPS. I.e. Half Life 2, Quake, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein, Doom, Farcry.
Again, I'm a diehard FPS fan. The only thing that this signals to me is that the game is a port and the bindings were kept simple so people could play with a controller... Which is inexcusable on a PC FPS.

Good point. I have been enjoying the game for what it's worth... but... it's... so... hard...Necromancist wrote...
My tip is, play through the entire game. The story does get a bit thin, but it still blew me away towards the end. I was like "O_O No effing way."
I might be a little biased because I finished ME2 for the first time yesterday, but you'll get used to what's changed. Enjoy the game, find stuff to nitpick on during your second playthrough. ^^

I'd look into Necromancist's advice, the game is pretty tight, give it a try. A few things ticked me off about ME 2 as far as the controls and combat are concerned. Also they need more character dialogues I think. Just my opinions however, kind of like a fart on Jupiter.

Onyx: You speak heresy. Burn the witch!
I get what you mean... Halo is the best example. When that was ported to PC, I had to play with a controller for it to feel right. I had ME1 for 360 but had to get it for PC because I knew it was one of those games that would benefit from a gaming keyboard. I don't think I could ever play it on a console now. It wouldn't feel right as an FPS and the controls would just seem... wacky.

If Bioware wanted to make a game that was just shooter more power to them. But it shoudln't have been ME2.
