Hi,

First time poster directed here via the SCEE Blog http://blog.eu.plays.../#comment-63714

I just wanted ask about the pricing of the DLC for the PS3 and if it was an April Fool's joke?

It's £31.99 and only available via download. SCEE claim YOU are responsible for the pricing.

Can you explain why it's this expensive, why it's more expensive then the XBL version (£27.20) and why we don't have the option to buy it on a disc?

Thanks in Advance,

Slapz

The option not to be able to buy it on disc is SCEE's doing, however the pricing is all on Bioware/EA

It's an expansion. With disc, cover, box, etc.

Not a DLC.

Not for me it isn't.

It's a £31.99 Digital Download.

I can't sell it when I have finished with it nor can I seek it out on disc at a decent price.

He has a point, and to be honest you should probably treat it as DLC. It's only about 5 hours long, ridiculous for the price they want. (In Canada I had to pay over $50 ><;; )

I feel so incredibly ripped off- not buying any more dragon age items after this.

As mentioned, it's 54,71 US$ for Europe. I won't buy it until they fix the price-error.

They need to release a patch to reduce the typing error with the price. Once it correctly reads £19.99 then I might be interested.

£31.99 is an absolute fekking joke.

SCEE have confirmed it isn't a typing error which is why I posted here.

£31.99 for ps3 just about confirms that EA don't get a flying frig for the ps3 owners of this game .. and don't believe the BS about not being able to release it on disk .... After the **** up with the bluray collectors edition and now this .. you have lost my custom.

It's a tad annoying to see no official responses to this query and four months on it's still the same case. The price hasn't changed on PSN, while the 360 and PC versions can be bought in stores for just over £10. As much as I love DragonAge, there's simply no way to justify a price that inflated for an expansion. Unless EA/Bioware do an GOTY edition with Awakenings included, I think I'm gonna have to sit this one out. :(

Still waiting for its price to drop. The only game that's expansions ever had enough content to be worth 40 dollars was World of Warcraft. I'm only willing to pay 20 dollars tops for it, maybe 25.

Anyone who plays this on a console is ripped off anyways. Ive learnt my lesson and am getting Dragon Age 2 for PC.

Also its EA who does pricing, not so much Bioware.

Its your choice but if your too worried about $30 I think you have more problems then playing games will fix.

It's £31.99 which I believe is around $50 not $30. I actually paid £19 for the original game brand new (on offer) and have bought all dlc except for Awakening. DLC quality has varied a lot but I still like DA:O enough to play it through almost 4 times now on the ps3.

I don't particularly worry about the price but refuse to pay that much because it does not represent the same value for money to me that I got when I paid for DA:O and the subsequent other dlc's. In fact for £31.99 and a bit of patience I can buy 3 highly rated games (Bioshock 2 is currently £10) and still retain the option to sell them on (likely at a loss, but I have that option at least and I get a fair bit of gaming variety too :)).

I may eventually buy Awakening but not until it's offered at a price I would be willing to pay - at the moment around £19.99 would be fine, but as new and better *disc based* games are released (e.g. the forthcoming DA2) I would be less inclined to spend quite that much, maybe £14.99 or £9.99 etc etc

It's also EA's currency conversion. Currently AFAIK US-based customers get the lowest prices for all the PSN stuff. I don't care for little differences, but just changing the currency name while keeping the number from US$ to EUR just is too much to bear for me. (When I last checked PS3 Awakening still was at 40 EUR here on PSN, which translates to 52.30 US$.)

You have some good & relevant points actually - no point worrying about the cost of dlc when it is in fact a luxury item - if it's priced too high then I won't bother, end of - at the moment there are too many games available for the time I would be willing to commit to them anyway :).

I have the ps3 version of DA:O because my ps3 is the most capable gaming hardware I have right now for this sort of game but I do miss the old days of NWN with the ability to play games created by the community - I would really love for console owners to be able to download community content, that would be awesome :) I will definately be considering the PC / Mac version of DA2 when it's released though the console version does have the added bonus of being convenient and more comfortable to play in a living room setting than sitting at a pc desk.

Still, I imagine there will be price cuts on the Awakening dlc once it stops selling at the £31.99 price point :)

I imagine there might be a price drop around the release of DA2, or perhaps even a GOTY edition towards the end of the year. £31.99 is the price of most full price games a week or so after launch - to try and charge that much for DLC is madness. It's just a shame that people still payed that much and allowed EA to keep the price that high.

on psn it shows 49.99. which is insane. I wish nobody supported such a price tag but it goes to show people don't know the value of a doller. in regard to an earlier post saying that if 30 bucks is that much of a worry you have deeper issues, its not the fact that 50 dollars will crush me financially. Its about being smart moneywise.

And it is entirely stupid to spend 50 dollars on an expansion. any expansion. I counter that statement by saying if your going to spend 39 dollars on an expansion than YOU have deeper issues than playing games, not the other way around. people are clearly obsessed, EA could have probly charged 200 dollars and people would still pay it just to have awakening.

Plus from what i'v heard its only a 10 hour or so extra. lets break this down. dragon age origins was 60 bucks, for about 80 hours (for me). then awakening is charging 40 dollars for 10 hours of enjoyment?

hell no.

Cant we get an official reply from EA/Bioware if/when they are going for a price reduction for Awakening?

Considering 54,71 US% for and addon can, with all due respect, be called a "rip off" and considering I have no alternative as a PS3 user, well, it's as simple as the following: As long as they don't lower the price on PSN to something reasonable I won't be able to buy other Bioware products because I'm angry. ;)

As a consequence: I'm saving money because I'll not buy good games that I definitely would have bought under different circumastances. (And without doubt: Bioware Games consistently were great and I have no doubt they will be in the future. So, it's somewhat nice that my anger prevents me from spending money on those titles. ^^)

I hear the PS3 version is the buggyest. Thats what us console users get since Bioware only did the PC version, EA had other companys create ports for teh console.
Personaly I enjoyed Awakening despite its bugs and enjoyed continuing the story of my Wardens. Price wasnt a Issue for me since I have a job and my expenses are cheap.

Same, I thought by now the price would have dropped, maybe a summer sale is on the cards:(

Please Bioware if the same situation comes up for Dragon Age 2 release all expansions on disc in europe, I mean surely discs would sell more as it would reach a larger audience
