Conversations/conflicts you would have handled differently

*TL;DR warning*
Been playing mass effect 2 for a while now and i love it. But some of thye conversations and methods of resolving conflict struck me as odd; I felt i had a better way of progressing through conversation/negotiation or the conflicts that can occur. What conversations/conflicts, if any, did you guys have a beef with? And how would you have solved it? You can also theorzie how characters would react to your method(s) as well.
Mine: The Legion/Tali conflict
___________________________________________________________________________________________
… Tali: “We can’t let legion transmit this data, Shepard! This is too much!”
Shepard: “Tali, your father was conducting brutal experiments on geth, correct?”
“yes….”
Shepard: “did he have the approval and support of the council? Did they know about what he was doing?”
“no…”
Shepard: Ral Zorah was acting without the support or the knowledge of the admiralty board, Legion. The Quarians can’t be held responsible for his actions.
Legion: “Shepard-commander, Creators were still discussing plans to attack us! This information needs to be transmitted!”
Shepard: Why do you think they were discussing the possibility of war, Legion? Because they have only the heretic geth to base their recent experiences with Geth on; its been three hundred years since the “morning war” Legion. The heretics suddenly show up after all this time, butchering organics, and you expect them to not think about combating you? They see the heretic geth's actions as "your" actions!
Legion:……
Shepard: Legion, they were debating going to war. DEBATING! Because there are elements in the Quarian fleet that opposed to war with your people. They want to negotiate! They want peace, not unnecessary bloodshed!
Legion: (various noises, attempting to reach consensus)
Shepard: Legion, you scanned Tali’s omni tool; you know this. Why are you trying to start a war?
Legion: It is not our intent to start a war with the Creators; we were…. Alarmed, at what we had discovered.
Tali: I…. understand your reaction, Legion.
Shepard: You panicked, Legion. Look at the Quarian example; the panicked when your people gained sentience, and tried to kill you without exploring the issue… don’t make the same mistake that your Creators made, Legion. Ral Zorah was an isolated incident; don’t let the actions of one condemn both your peoples to an unnecessary war!
Legion: …. We will consider what you have said… in the meantime, we will not transmit the data, facilitate group cohesion. We apologize, Creator Tali Zorah. Perhaps we should have conferred with you before acting.
*conversation goes on from this point as it does in the game*
Shepard: you two need to stop fighting; there is a genuine chance for peace. Don’t waste it….

Instead he/she says vague things like "You'd moved on with your life so I didn't want to bother you" etc.

I wish my Shep could have pointed out more clearly to Kaidan/Ashley that the reason they haven't heard anything from me in 2 years is because of the whole coma/dead/being reconstructed thing. XD I always thought that was a strange conversation, especially since Shepard explained himself/herself very weakly when he/she actually had a very good excuse.

this.
Shep: "So, Kaidan, how you been?"
Kaidan: "After two years is that all you have to say???"
Me: "Yea, is that all you have to say?????"

Shep: I know it looks bad but they want to stop the Reapers, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
TIM: You and I may have different methods but I can't argue with your results (After Freedom's Progress letting Tali take Veetor)
Shep: There's no point in burning bridges, at least not until your across the river.

Yeah, I was kind of hoping the Renegade response would be along the lines of "Well, I was pretty much just meat and tubes. Made it hard to pick up a phone."

I also wanted a renegade (or just jerk) response expressing my (the player, not necessarily Shepard's) frustration at how dense they were being. Basically: "Whatever, dude, never liked you anyway."Mcjon01 wrote...

Shepard: This is an omni-tool. This is me accessing my helmet cam feed on my omni tool. This is me inside a Reaper. This is me talking to one. This is me watching one assume direct control of a Collector. This is me looking at a giant human version of one. This is me blowing up said human version. WHO'S RIGHT NOW!?

Shepard: Here's a thought, stop acting like a threat then diplomacy will work better.
TIM: we can salvage the technology on the collector base. just use the gamma pulse to kill all the collectors.
Shepard: Great idea and I will park the Normandy in front of the relay so that the Alliance, council and Cerberus all get their turn at studying the tech. You can make the call. If I only see Cerberus ships, they die.
Any mercenary: Your dead no way you can win.
Shepard: Do you even read the news? Do you know who I am? you think you even have a hope in Hell?
Merc: Oh ..yeah, well I'll be going now...

Ashley: your working for Cerberus, I'm Alliance to the core I'll never betray them like you did.
Shepard:Uh Ash, you helped me save the galaxy from god machines and you are STILL only a non-com. you might be loyal to the Alliance but they are still treating you like crap, besides I did not see the Alliance work to bring me out of a coma for 2 YEARS and unlike the Aliance they are helping fight the reapers, albeit with strings attached.

Shep: With
Ash: What
Shep: I'm working with Cerberus not for Cerberus
Ash: What's the difference
Shep: I don't get paid.

That didn't make any sense to me either. But what really didn't make sense were the situations where my Shepard should have been able to ask deeper and more probing questions about just what went on during his two year absence.
Gabby and Kenneth state that the Alliance basically ripped Shepard apart, so much in fact that it caused them to defect to Cerberus. Kenneth risked a court martial. You would think Shepard would have at least asked what were the circumstances and who was involved. I can well imagine Rear Admiral Mikhailovich being a voice of opposition, that man disliked everything about Shepard. But I guess we'll never know because we never got to ask.
Then there is the conversation with Tali and her team on Freedom's Progress. If the gamer didn't read Ascension then they really didn't have any backround on why Quarians are so turned off by anyone having anything to do with Cerberus. Shepard does ask but doesn't get a real answer from Miranda who brushes it off as "nothing personal" Shepard never bothers to explore the truth behind what any of that was about.
I won't get into Anderson or the Council because there have been enough threads created about that.

Is there way to get a rundown of what happened (other than getting Ascension)?

It isn't a lot of info really. But i think it might be right after you recruit her and before she asks for your help with her trial. She wants to know about shepard and cerberus and i think that is when you can ask her what is up with cerberus and the quarians.
