Ever since the Dalish Origin video and MoL0toW's awesome Vir Tanadahl - flash comic, I've been planning on playing a Dalish Warrior (my stock standard class for RPGs).
However, I got bored, and went back into the toolset and started making myself some more characters (a Male Dwarf Rogue and a Female Human Mage).
Now, normally in RPGs I have a difficult time coming up with a different feel for my characters other than Me in a Fantasy Setting™, or Polar Opposite of Me in a Fantasy Setting™.  However, I noticed with my mage that there was something different, I felt like I was starting to get to know who she was, what she was about, I even went so far as to mentally note the kinds of spells she would/wouldn't learn.  This experience has changed my mind (again :P) about who I want to play on my first time through as I'm quite interested in seeing how this character grows and where she ends up.

So I was wondering, has anyone else changed their mind about who they're playing on their first time through?  Was it a small change, or are you going with a completely different class/race/gender like I am?

Nope, I still want to play my human noble warrior first. What the CC has done is to boost my interest in dwarves even more, though, because you sure can make some kickass-looking shorties. On the other hand, I'm not so impressed with the elven options, especially since most of the available hairstyles for women hide their ears so that there's often nothing to tell them apart from humans.

No, I didn't change my mind...because I hadn't made a decision yet. Almost invariably I have chosen to play a warrior type in my first play of any RPG, but in terms of origin stories it's going to be how I feel on game day. I might even mix it up and go rogue on my first run.

In terms of sex, it'll be male. I usually play a male before I start alternating between the sexes.

yes and no. It's reaffirmed me in playing a mage and pushed me away from the warrior a little bit.. Though the sacred ashes and wardens calling videos made me want to play a warrior. As well as a certain other scene relating to a dragon and a tower.

No it has not changed my opinion but it has helped me come up with a game plan for all the characters I planned on playing with, What has changed it was the IGN first few minutes of each story origin. I'm gunna start with a mage now.

Yes it has, but only because the Dalish elf armor looks off in the back area to me so I'm holding off playing a Dalish warrior until someone 'fixes' the body and/or armor meshes a bit.

Mage look great in robes and I do love their origins I think they are one of the most interesting.

I was going to play through my first ran as a female city elf.I started making chars but the male human noble just called out to me.Also my first run through i wanted to be a good guy,so it just felt right to me to play as a noble. With out the CC i would have made that city elf because i would have just wanted to jump right in to the game with out looking in to any other chars.

If anything, the CC makes me want to play more characters than I otherwise would. It's hard not to imagine their personalities and backstories as you're creating them. I start wondering how they would act in the game.

Nope, my Camilia is gorgeous and innocent and fits perfectly into how I made her personality. I'll admit some of my other characters really tempt me but, no, none have captivated me as much as she has.

Like daem3an.. it's just making me actually want to play all of the origin stories.. but it hasn't changed who I want to play first. If anything it's made me more excited to play her. The way the origin stories and the rest of the game play out will determine how far I want to take other characters.

yes, I intended to play a dalish elf first, but after seeing how my human noble turned to be and the points human gains to their stats, I changed my mind. Now I will play my first game with a female noble human warrior and my second with a male dalish elf rogue.

The dwarven commoner and mage origins went from being my third and fourth playthroughs to my first and second, due to the handsome devil on the left and the awesome girl below. It probably was their cocky voices that convinced me. Perfect fit!

My key words for Epic Cousland were Elegant Benevolence.

I like the way she turned out.

Save for the lack of curly/wavy hair, my Cousland pretty much ended up the way I wanted her to. I wish I could make my male human mage prettier, but I think the roguish smirk he has compensates for it. As for my elves, I didn't have a set prerequisite for their looks, so anything goes with them.

Nope! I already had my Dalish elf character all planned out, so actually making her just made me want to play with her more! I just wish they had more long hair options for elves that show their ears!

i enjoyed the whole process, was quite easy to use and i only made one so far, human warrior. my standard starting class for fantasy rpgs. im quite pleased that i was able to obtain a pretty good likeness to myself with the character creator

I'm torn between my human noble warrior, or my city elf rogue. Most likely go with the warrior on release. Character creator only really changed my mind about playing an elf at all. Elves very struck me, but the interesting way Elves look/act and are treated in DA:O, makes me quite interested in trying them.. Just not first.

For me it made my desition harder what i am going to start playing with,
i am thinking either dwarf commoner or human noble (merak or caern). But all the other origins are good but i do like all my characters i have uploaded.

Ps. if you care ( http://social.biowar...&nid=2262453994 ):D

Using the character generator ahead of time certainly gave me more time to think, and to create a competent rogue character as well as a straightforward warrior-type. But I think it was more the discussions in this forum that made me revise my plans, specifically the question of which four characters would make up my party.

My original idea was to play a warrior (I had a character figured out and was all set to roleplay the clueless noble) but I don't particularly want to stand on the front line, I do want a mage and a rogue in the party, and I wasn't sure that one front-line warrior would be enough. So... now I'm thinking of taking my rogue first, letting two big burly gentlemen protect me from the hordes, and only fighting with melee weapons when necessary to protect our spellcaster.

No, it did not change my mind about my first playthrough. I am still definitely playing a dalish elf. The character creator just made me want to play a dalish elf more. Though the character creator changed the order of my subsequent playthroughs. Before I was not too interested in the human noble or the mage origins but now I will definitely play them after the dalish elf.

Yeah, I was going to start with a Human Warrior but I'm going with a Dwarf commoner Warrior. I wish there was a human commoner too.

It dodn't change my mind about my first character (City Elf), but it did change my mind about my mage playthrough. Initially I was going to play a mage as my 4th playhtrough, and I was going to use a human mage. But then I made this elf mage and I liked her a lot, so Im probably going to use her in my 2nd or 3rd playthrough.

Not a mind changer for me. Im still going to play the two types of characters I always play in Roleplaying Fantasy Games which are:

- Human Warrior (noble in this case)

- Elf mage

What it HAS done is make sure i take notice of the dwarves which is something I normally dont do on fantasy games. So I guess i will be playing some dwarven origins as well in the future after I finish with my other two.

Still sticking with my stock RPG character, dwarf melee. But I am interested in playing through again as other origins, which is something uncommon for me.
