That is a flat out NOT true - Dog is apparently NOT referenced once anywhere in the game and nor relationships with Morrigan, Leliana or Zev acknowldged AT ALL...pleas do make statements that aren't true
My first playthorugh of Awakening, Leliana was referenced in the prologue of my game. It said somehting about I didn't stay the Commander for long and went off with Leliana for more adventures. But that was it. The rest of it was true though, no referance to My dog Tank or Morrigan or any other characters fromOrigins, with the exeption of Oghren.
I have only done one other play through, and that was the one when I married the Queen. I haven't done any of my other saves well because Ireally am not a huge fan of the xpac.

As far as romances, there could have been info regarding their whereabouts, but maybe BW decided to leave that up to your imagination. They also give you epilogue mentions which were satisfying to me.
There are things to complain about concerning Awakening, but references/carryover isn't one of them.
Dog's absence without mention, however, was inexcusable. >

Most who are disappointed feel that way because Origins set the bar so very high. This game has a different, darker feel and made the mistake of fixing things that weren't broken, which wasn't to my personal taste, but I'm still glad that I bought it and played it. That doesn't mean that I won't discuss it's problems, though.

Thing is, while there are some problems--all of which have been addressed in numerous threads, and the largest of which, for me, is the new dialogue system--it's still worth buying and playing. A Bioware game that doesn't stand up to Origins is still better than most games out there.

This is, almost, exactly how I feel--bar disliking the darker feel.

I've only done the first part of Awakening so far. In my main-game playthrough I was made King, and the Queen now refers to me as "my husband."
You're not a King just the Prince consort. You actually have zero power

Here is what I noticed transferring over:
- Oghren's sidequest done. (His new wife isn't too happy when she founds out he joined the wardens...)
Oghren's stuff carried over fine. (except your rep with him)
- What happens to Branka. (Conversation with Oghren)
Other than he isn't completely over her, but other than that I didn't hear anything actually about Branka currently and I let her live.
- Who I made king of Orzammar (The dwarf guy with explosives says which King sent him.)
Yes, but not that I was made a Paragon or the fact that I am of House Aeducan (Though Sigrun knows I am Lady Aeducan, that was nice)
- Who I made ruler of Fereldan. Anora refers to me as her husband.
Brief cameo at begining
- Who you romanced is mentioned in the ending. (Like going to Antiva with Zevran or chasing Morrigan in Orlais)
However in my dwarf noble game, Zevran didn't go to Antiva he went with me and helped train new wardens
In my mage game, Leliana accompanied me to Amaranthine and and we went on further adventures to discover the secrets of the darkspawn. (Kind of sounds like she should have been by my side in Awakenings)
Neither of these happened. Why did Zevran change his mind and run off to Antiva. No explanation.
- Loghain survivng. (Best cameo in a game ever?)
Only if your male and married Anora otherwise you don't see him, no mention of him, nothing.
- Treasuer lady mentions me going to warden's keep in origins.
Yes
- Dark ritual mentioned by the Architect.
Must have missed this. I heard nothing about Morrigans ritual.

That is wrong actually. He was there for my female Elven Mage.

Ditto I think my disappointment was more to do with how much I enjoyed DA:O and Awakenings just fell flat in comparison (even when treating it as an Expansion). I played and enjoyed it but have a whole "Meh" attitude about playing it again, unlike the "I CAN"T STOP" feeling Origins STILL has for me.

ehhh, you're kidding right?... cos you obviously haven't played any of biowares other rpg games that allowed expansions to add new skills/spells/npcs to the original game, AND allowed you to import your original campaign pc into the expansion to continue the story... so like i said.. you were just kidding/trolling.. right?
forgot to add.. when you imported your pc into the expansions you actually kept your equipment from previous games.. iirc, been awhile since i played BG2/SoA/ToB.. ahhh those were the days.. sweet aerie, whatever happened to you..

Dog got refferenced by Oghren, but still I still got no explanation on what the hell happened to him or where the hell he is.
Leliana (and most likely Zev too) is refferenced in the epilogue (only if romanced I believe). Still, no damn explanation on where they were and what they were doing.
I romanced Morrigan but ending says i went back to Lelliana...Hope it's a bug cuz that would be weird
Yeah, it did that to me too, that or Morrigan dyed her hair red and decided to become a bard ;-) (as it says you hooked up with a red haired bard

Right now Bioware has two choices, continue up the story of your main character and make us accept that it will essentially be the same story for everyone, bar a few references to your previous story that is just flavor, or reset the story and let you start next installment of Dragon Age with a new character. Catering for everyones desire to have a experience tailored to their specific story just isn't an option.

Really?? Was Anora the Queen with no Alistair? That must be it then. I had Alistair and Anora married and had Loghain alive. Nothing. Just Alistair without a word about Loghain, even though he is my warden recruiter.

So they say, but they managed to charge nearly what it cost to produce the original game. If people keep buying (literally) the line that "they couldn't do it, it costs too much," they'll continue to put out substandard content and charge us more for it. It is hardly asking for "a different game" to have acknowledgement in-game of the uniqueness of your character. DA:O did this to some extent and it was not "producing a different game" for the various origins and genders.Xandurpein wrote...
I really think that those who wanted more reference to their choices in DA:O than what is really set their expectations waaay to high. I'm sorry if advertisment led you to believe that you would get what amounts to a totally different game if your character was King or Queen, but it really doesn't take a genius in game design to realize that this was never going to happen. It simply costs too much to add voice acting for everyone saying 'your majesty' instead of 'Ser' everywhere. Sure my HNM was Teyrn of Gwaren too and ought to call in a few companies from there as reinforcements, but that would just break the game plot.
