It's EA/Bioware who set the price not Sony. Sony even tried to get them to reconsider it!

This is only half true..
Developers don't set prices publishers do, also Sony charges publishers an overhead fee for every GB downloaded from there servers.. which is 16c per GB you do the math...

Where did you find that price of 16c per GB? This is the first time I heard about that and I am really interested to see where that came from, if you could provide a link it'd be awesome!

Then again, if you sift through the PSN blog you the official respones to the outcry on the DAA prices are at least answered officially by Sony, claiming they are not theirs to decide but EA/Bioware instead. Both companies still have to give a formal reply to the why of these high prices.

Awesome, thanks for that I didn't even know about this policy. It's quite probable this has something to do with the high price indeed.

I found this quote in particular interesting:
"This "PlayStation Network Bandwidth" fee has been unpopular with game
companies, according to at least three publishing and development
sources who spoke to MTV Multiplayer about the policy on the condition
of anonymity so as not to get their companies on Sony's bad side.
'

So it might just be Sony vs. Bioware/EA battleing out there differences over our backs... go figure.

Its because its only effecting europe and the ps3 so no one will talk about it.

Is it just me or are ps3 owners treated like bastards (the fatherless kind...) of DA players.

In general whenever ps3 players have a problem Bioware generally just ignores us. (Odd, since we are a pretty large demographic). I just don't get it. Threads about whether or not Duncan is dead gets responses whilst any complaint from ps3 owners, no matter how valid, gets the cold shoulder.

Why do you hate us Bioware? Why? Why???

They seem to have major issues dealing with Sony, just look at the RtO fiasco, all Sonys fault.

Definately too much. Having finished it, I would say that i would have to play 3 or 4 times to get what I would call value for money.

tbh, I don't really feel the volition to replay as I do with the main game. There's just not enough choices for that kind of replayability.

I don't think Bioware hates PS3 players as such. I think Bioware is glad and happy about more people playing their games.

However, David Gaider (the lead writer) answered the question about Duncan's death because he knows the answer to that question. Tech problems for any version, should be posted in the appropriate forums e.g. tech problem for ps3 version should go in the ps3 tech help forum.

As I remember, Bioware have people dedicated to reading the tech forums, and sometimes respond. But try to remember, please, that even tech help guys that work at Bioware have a job to do; they can't be reading and answering threads about complaints all the time.

Also, video game devs. tend to be shifted around a lot...from team to team...

if bioware were that happy about more people (PS3 owners) playing their games they would do something about the whole fiasco like reply to us and sort out the pricing, maybe even give us a hard copy if they want to charge this amount, what they are really happy about is the amount of cash that is lining their pockets and stuff the player, if I am wrong with my last comment someone from bioware will at least answer or better still get the price sorted

It will be. EA probably set the RRP at the same for every format, then Microsoft and Sony mark up that price so they both make a profit and cover hosting costs. When Sony say they asked them to set it cheaper they don't mean they said £32 was too much, they mean they said £20 (or whatever the RRP was) is too much. Since it means either less money for Sony or less money for EA you can bet neither are going to back down without a fight.
Sony do tend to make some ridiculous demands when it comes to PSN. Fact is they've got the publishers by the short and curlies - either you accept what Sony demand or you don't get to sell the game on the PS3.

It'd be more effective to petition for a retail release than complain about the price. At least then you've got a pretty good chance of the retailers lowering it to a sensible price at some point without having to worry about politics.

£31!? thats absolutely crazy. I picked the PC version of DA:A up for £14.99 at play.com so how on earth can they charge more than twice that price for a non physical copy!?

Hell I thought the £19.99 on Steam was pricey but clearly I was wrong. Shame on anyone who buys it you are the reason prices are so high.

I feel sorry for you PS3 owners these prices are insane, let's hope it's just an error on their part.

Firstly Origins only cost me £30, a game twice as big as Awakening.

Secondly, why is it that UK PS3 owners have to pay the highest price?  PC owners have the choice to either buy a hard copy or download Awakening and either one is only half the price for PS3 owners. The same is true of the XBOX also, available in hard copy and download for less than the PS3 price.

Given that your support for the PS3 version has been laughable to this point, (a 2 month delay on Return To Ostagar, a meaningless patch that addressed none of the concerns raised in the Bioware blindspot that is the Playstation technical support forum), on top of all that we now have to pay the highest price of all your customers to download Awakening?

An explanation would be greatly appreciated. I have continued to support your product despite all the annoyances and problems with the PS3 version. I have purchased all posible DLC cotent and am downloading Awakening now, but would really like to hear from someone at Bioware as to why PS3 owners have been and continue to be treated so poorly?

Simple answer - Because the PS3 is apparantly difficult, time consuming and expensive to develop games for.
