Read through the posts in that thread and you'll see at least one possible solution. Other than that, try using the "Search" function or just go back a page or two, seems most people are overly keen to just start new threads instead of spending a few minutes looking through exisiting threads to see if their problem has already been resolved! This just means that relevant threads are being pushed further and further back!

There are numerous threads about this problem already, such as this one:

There is no need to play forum police, sir.
There are highly trained expert forum dudes here who are paid to do that.

Not playing forum police or anything like that, just pointing out the obvious. I fully understand the frustration that many players are experiencing due to the all the errors and problems with the game, not just with the patch but with DLC's, basic game etc etc etc, but seeing as these forums are for players to try to help each other, people creating numerous threads about the same topic just results in the threads containing possible solutions being pushed further and further back until eventually, they become almost impossible to find. I don't think that's really helping anyone.public profile 435 wrote...

My apologies if my attempts at helping other players have offended you or anyone else. I'll endeavour to refrain from doing such things in future.

Anyway, I had the same patch problem, and used the C++ x86 update to fix it. Previous posts will explain the details.

I found that after I patched I had to shutdown my Spyware Doctor for some reason. Prior to the patch, they could both launch and run simultaneously. The same thing happened when I downloaded the character creator at its release, where I had to shutdown Spyware Doctor in order to access the program.
I haven't figured out a way to resolve this yet.
