Some others have this problem too, try starting the game from the DVD (double-click your DVD drive or execute autorun.exe), might just be a shortcut problem.

There are numerous threads about this problem already, such as this one:
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/124342
Read through the posts in that thread and you'll see at least one possible solution. Other than that, try using the "Search" function or just go back a page or two, seems most people are overly keen to just start new threads instead of spending a few minutes looking through exisiting threads to see if their problem has already been resolved! This just means that relevant threads are being pushed further and further back!

There is no need to play forum police, sir.

There are highly trained expert forum dudes here who are paid to do that.

Not playing forum police or anything like that, just pointing out the obvious. I fully understand the frustration that many players are experiencing due to the all the errors and problems with the game, not just with the patch but with DLC's, basic game etc etc etc, but seeing as these forums are for players to try to help each other, people creating numerous threads about the same topic just results in the threads containing possible solutions being pushed further and further back until eventually, they become almost impossible to find. I don't think that's really helping anyone.

My apologies if my attempts at helping other players have offended you or anyone else. I'll endeavour to refrain from doing such things in future.

I must be one of the lucky ones. I patched it even though I was reading about errors, ran fine! I only installed the patch because of the first boss pwning me whenever I got him less than halfway down on health >>_>>

Grizzly that's actually a good point on the threads being lost because of so many posts. But we are all feeling alot of frsutration I think right now. My game was running fine for like 2 days - then it just crashed and hitting PLAY did nothing. I downloaded the patch. Nothing. Deleted game and reinstalled which took forever for some reason. And POOF same thing. I am really really pissed :-(   This game was fun for the wee bit I had to play before the crash - I hope they are going to find a fix soon. I have tried everything suggested including the C++ update etc. what the hell - I don't expect this kind of thing from Bioware or EA - SUPPORT YOUR GAMES PLEASE!

Back to the forum search I go to maybe find a solution. . . .

I agree Grizzly, but even I can't get the search function to work, so I'm guessing othere just give up and start a new thread.

Anyway, I had the same patch problem, and used the C++ x86 update to fix it. Previous posts will explain the details.

Yeah, I can't ge tthe search function to work either.

I found that after I patched I had to shutdown my Spyware Doctor for some reason. Prior to the patch, they could both launch and run simultaneously. The same thing happened when I downloaded the character creator at its release, where I had to shutdown Spyware Doctor in order to access the program.

I haven't figured out a way to resolve this yet.
