I was happily dead, and those ****s brought me back.
I consider one cutting-edge stealth ship to be a reasonable fee for having to deal with that damned Turian councilor again.

Wouldn't matter if you gave the ship back. I'll bet Cerberus is the arm of the Alliance that does all the unsavory but necessary work.

Cerberus is most definitely not to the Alliance what the Spectres are to the Council. I don't see the comparison at all, and even if that was how they were intended to be, the evidence that they've nearly always been a rogue entity is too compelling for all but the most brainwashed and xenophobic morons to see.

How do you know that?  All I see from ME2 is that the Alliance and Cerberus share tech, and seem to be in ready contact with each other.

More correctly, Cerberus "encouraged" the Alliance (likely through agents within the military-industrial complex) to cooperate with the turians to build the original Normandy. Then, in secret, they illegally constructed their own "upgraded" version. Cerberus, through their spy network, had access to the Normandy's schematics, and purchased the parts from thousands of suppliers through intermediaries.

You did talk to EDI after Joker released her locks, didn't you?

I'm not anti-Cerberus. I'm anti-TIM.

He works for me now.

If I'm against Cerberus why the hell would I give them their ship back?

As far as I'm concerned, even if Cerberus is secretly still Alliance, I don't care. After the events of ME2 my Shepard now considers the Council, the Alliance and Cerberus to all be massive wankers. He's keeping the Normandy - he's already saved the galaxy and the human race. The Normandy is his.

Considering his alliances as well, he's potentially just as powerful as Cerberus. Zulu commented a few pages back that we'll be sorry and used Paul Grayson as an example, but, like, Paul Grayson isn't the gun-toting, army-killing, plot-armor wielding protagonist of the game. It's not like Cerberus can dent him at all, just inconvenience him with hordes of minions to kill. Could be wrong, though, but I don't see them as much of a threat anymore.

Cerberus stole my ship planes. Sorry they can build another one if they see fit and by the way. After the end of ME 2. The alliance and council probably go all their recruits back. The alliance isnt' weak after ME 2 anymore woohoo!

The alliance is better then a racist with a superiority complex. I'll take my Racini, Krogon, Alliance, Truian, and Qurian warships over Timmy. :D

After everything he did, Shepard has earned the right to hold onto the Normandy, not even dealing with Cerberus keeping EDI shackled. Screw Cerberus.

Also, a stealth frigate with the firepower and shielding to wipe out a cruiser is far too dangerous to leave in the hands of Cerberus. Who knows what they'd do with it?

You - no. Shepard - yes. Because Commander Shepard is a marine and he (she) accepted these rules when he enlisted, received his officer's commission, and agreed to work for TIM.

Isn't that what Renegade Shep is about though? Screw the rules, I do things my way.

"Pure psychopathic renegade" Shepard is. "Ends justify the means renegade" Shepard isn't. I mean he does say "screw the rules" to the boyscout / good christian morality guide, but he adheres to the unritten rules of expediencey of which I am talking about. And those rules say that it may be required at some to expend him as well.

Recall Eden Prime. Are you sure Anderson had been unaware of the incoming attack and it was just a pecaution to send him, you, a council spectre and a stealth frigate there? But he tells you: "Info strictly on the need-to-know basis", and he means it. And you accept it. Neither he tells you all he knows about Banes later on.

Shepard is a middle-ranking officer, not the hub of the universe. His mission is unique, but he is not entirely in charge of it. People in charge have him do the shooting.

Several things: Shepard is a SPECTRE. He is FULLY IN CHARGE of his own mission. He simply reports to the council on events that transpired. Secondly, SPECTRE's are above the law, meaning he can confiscate the Normady at will. Which he did, with full Council authority. The Alliance continues to recognize his rank because they gain the benefit of a SPECTRE at call if they d so. But Shepard can disregard the Alliance completely with no ill effects because his SPECTRE status and duties take full precedence as the Alliance is part of the Council.

TIM had style, and Cerberus paided me a bonus, so there.

The council never paided me a bonus and they didn't have style. I still owe that Turian a punch in the face.

"Encouraged" means Cerberus has clout within the alliance.  EDI says nothing about spying.  For all we know, the same military industrial complex could be backing both the Alliance and Cerberus.

finds out it's Cerberus AND THAT THEY'VE GONE ROGUE (which makes them fair game), and then he gets killed.

That  was just his opinion, and an ill-informed one. No wonder he got himself killed, when he pried his nose where he shouldn't.

Kahoku simply wanted to know why his men had to die on an inert intel mission he was given.  To me this is an action far more of compassion and closure than of military doctrine. He ends up finding out Cerberus did it, and asked Shep to help him because he trusted Shepard, the human spectre, to look in on it. Cerberus then killed him.  Yes, Kahoku probably did not have the slightest idea of what he was getting himself into, but  if I was in Kahoku's position I probably would have done the exact same thing. I wouldn't just accept that all my men were massacred on some routine mission.

In fact I probably would go up to Saren and tell him "Hey Saren, Cerberus discriminates against the Turians."
I'm sure TIM would have liked having the deadliest, most ruthless Spectre in the galaxy on his ass.

I have a huge number of stolen property from Cerberus in ME1, I shall not return it.

SR-2, I shall NOT return it either.

If your anti Cerberus you simply act as a Specter (ie law) and impound/commendeer an illegally built warship from a criminal organization and use it in your mission.

Simple.

Also, it's damn useful, it may very well be the most dangerous ship in the galaxy (those Thanix cannons took out a Collector ship in a single shot, remember how no one could believe an entire Turian patrol could disable a collector vessel, much less destroy one?). As anti-Cerberus as Shepard is hes much more pro-saving all sentient life in the galaxy.
