Can someone please tell me what stats are a MUST have for a shapeshifter I was thinking of stacking constitution and just being a tank in bear will that work? Can someone please post what stats make shapeshifters there BEST!?

Your best bet is to avoid it entirely, it doesn't really scale that well late game unfortunately. I had far more sucess with my arcane warrior blood mage than I did wtih my shape shifting spirit healer. But if you do want to go down that road try putting some points into const and str if you can spare them.

Then what class is best for a new player then a class that will not die. I was thinking just going shapeshifting and stacking constitution and just bear form it.

You're looking for a new-player friendly class? Warrior is generally what is considered the fallback here. In this game, many people are saying mages (DPS, not shapeshifters) are the way to go for the 'easiest' experience. Ultimately it's going to depend at least partly on your play style.

I'm pretty sure the description says strength doesn't effect shifter damage at all, or it says magic effects shifter damage

For the easiest experience... I'd suggest Spirit healer.. Arcane Warrior/Spirit Healer is probably the closest to outright invincibility a person can get. Every class has it's methodologies though.

They're very good at healing.

I have played a mage they do INSANE damage but die in a few hits is there some sort of opd class out there which can just smash through the game fast?

Being an Arcane Warrior allows you to equip the armor of a Warrior, combined with mage resistance spells, they're probably the toughest things out there. A warrior is probably going to outdamage them though with his weapon skills. You might think about Reaver/Berserker though.. Less survivability than the Arcane Warrior/Spirit Healer Mage, but it probably smashes things better.
