In the Blackmarsh for this quest, when i attempt to gather one othe the sets near the look out of the lake not the dock it doesn't seem to register that I pick it up. My screen says 'item received' but nothing is added to my inventory. I reloaded my saves trying to pick it up but it just keeps doing the same thing, dispite the item clearly being picked up from the ground. I continued on and was able to put in 3 of the 4 dragon bone slots, but I get no option for the 4th. So is there any way around this or am I just out of luck from another glitch?

It worked fine for me. At first I thought it was bugged as well, but then I saw that there is a tiny tiny spot where a fifth bone should go. This one is uber hard to find, so make sure you have all five. I thought it was just four at first.

The fifth bone can be hard to find compared to the other bones scattered around the level. Try looking around where you come across Kristof's/Justice's body. Also killing the Baroness gives you a key to the dock gate, which may hide what you are looking for.
If you do get all five bones and you still cannot get past the barrier, that's an issues you should post.

Yes, the last bone needs a lot more searching. It's confusing at first, but when you find it, it feels good.

I didn't have any problems finding the bones, putting them in the dragon skull, and activating that part of the Blackmarsh quest.

I didn't have any problems finding the bones and putting them in the slots - what did confuse me is I noticed that my open quest didn't update the fact that I'd actually picked up the bones. When I went back to the skull though, all the slots were illuminated and I was able to finish it even though there seemed to be that discrepancy.

Spoiler Question:
Can you leave the Blackmarsh Dragon quest incomplete until you have gathered all your companions and put them through the Joining? Or does the Seneschel still insist you go to war right after you get your final companion?

Spoiler Answer:
[1st Spoiler>]
After you gather all the companions, when you turn to Keep's Interior, there will be a noble crowd inside. No automatic dialog occurs unless you talk to Seneschel. You'll have time to complete Blackmarsh Dragon Quest, if you want to.
[2nd Spoiler>] I suggest you to defeat that dragon, you'll have the dragon bone and Wade crafts some good weapon, mine was Vigilance the sword, that was really the greatest weapon I've ever met in Origins and Awakening.

I was wondering if there was anyway to carry through the final companion's Joining ceremony- Once I got my final companion, I was not offered the option of putting them through the ceremony. It was time to go to battle...

It happened to me too but I wasn't about it coz my last one was Sigrun and I never used her in my party.
