The first issue of Dragon Age the comic from BioWare and IDW Publishing is now available on iTues and the PSP.

On iTunes you can get it here: http://itunes.com/ap...hing/dragonage1

For the PSP you can get it here: http://us.playstatio...e #1_1275-US-EN

Dragon Age (the comic) is build directly from the story and lore created by BioWare, but is created by an amazing team of artists and writers from IDW. The comic is written by acclaimed author Orson Scott Card (author of the Ender Saga amongst much more) and Aaron Johnson with interior art by Mark Robinson and cover art by renowned artist Humberto Ramos. The comic will take video game fans into a whole new adventure in the Dragon Age world.

In a time lost to history, a war ravaged the land. Mages, incredibly powerful wielders of magic,
ruled the world through mastery of dark arts and forbidden spells. Their lust for power almost destroyed all existence, and unleashed an unholy pestilence, the Darkspawn, to plague mankind, trolls, faeries, and all the inhabitants of the realm. Now magic is carefully controlled, taught behind the sacred walls of the Circle of Magi, and monitored by the ever-vigilant Templars. It is in this arena that a new generation of Mages in training will arise, warriors of sorcery who will defy the rules of the Templars and change the course of the world forever.

You can read more about the comic, including seeing the cover and downloading the first 6 pages on the BioWare Blog here: http://blog.bioware.com/

How come we never heard of them in the mages origin?

AND for changing history...mages where one of the least influential origins of the game.

Having fun with ME comic, this one I will have to wait and see, still don't like the fact that is Scott Card doing it :(

I'd actually like to read this, but not so much that I'll make an iTunes account.

Curse Sony for not making the comic store available for us Canadian PSP users yet. This comic would have been a nice read on the way to my theoretical comp sci class tomorrow. Oh well.

The characters in the preview are pretty unoriginal, but he can write, so I suppose the 08/15 fantasy adventure feeling will go away during the course of the book. The art is pretty cartoony, but nice overall (i.e. not crazy why-the-hell-is-that-mainstream Ramos-cartoony). However, the artist seriously can't draw sword fights.
Anyway, I stand by my word that I won't support the writer (Card that is) and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything (which I guess is a plus for me).

Is this getting published? Seem to remember reading that it's out at the end of March but can't find any info anywhere. Or is it gonna remain a digital download only, call me old fashioned but I like having material objects when I buy stuff, not just take up more hard drive space.

Pretty good start. I'm not the biggest fan of Card, and at times the art felt rushed to me, but overall I really enjoyed.

Probably won't pick up the issues. But, I'll definitely pick up the trade paper back if they come out with one.

So, every single comic shop around me (all 3 of them in the tri-county area) didn't recieve any of the Dragon Age comics because apparently theirs were all damaged, so they won't get the new ones in until next week or the week after.

No big deal.

But I've tried downloading it through iTunes and am having trouble opening the file. It shows up on my iTunes, but every time I double-click to open it, nothing happens. I've tried opening it a number of different ways with no luck, which is incredibly annoying as I've paid for the comic twice now through iTunes and still can't read it.

Any suggestions?

I picked up the comic. I must say that I am pretty disappointed in the art style. It's too bad something wasn't picked that was a little more towards the style of the game rather than the anime-ish Warcrafty humerous feel that it currently has (and what's with everyone pursing their lips like they have a kissing problem?).

I'm not sure yet whether I'll pick up any more because of it. It's too bad, because I had high hopes that more than a token effort would have been poured into it.

Agree on the art (from what I've seen), but haven't read the story yet.

Oh, and figured this out:

Apparently it'll only work on my iPod Touch (don't have an iPhone).  I just assumed it would work on my PC as well...should've known better.

I have to say, I was really turned off by this comic. The art style, the fact that EA actually gave Orson Scott Card money to work on it, and the fact that the plot seems to be best summarized by "MOAR EMO = quality dark fantasy!!11" are all disappointments. All the characters are either misguided tropes or one-note sadists.

I was given the comic as a gift, so at least I didn't spend money on it.

I had a little bit of an issue with the art, not that it was necessarily bad, but just not my style. As for the story, I thought it was good and definitely has some potential. It didn't strike me as, "Oh yeah, I can tell Card is writing this," not that that would've been bad, as I quite enjoy Card's works, but for those of you who don't, I'd say you should still give this a try. I'm also curious to see what characters or connections will come up that connect directly to the games, as well. So personally, I'm very much looking forward to more!
