Hope this is the correct place. Is it going to be possible to have the new class specialties available for the original game once they are unlocked or was the expansion coded in such a way to make it impossible?

Me buying the expansion sort of relies on some of the new stuff from the expansion being available to breathe new life into the original game. I do understand for level reasons, some of the uber epic level things won't fit into the game, but the new class specs, can it be done or has it already been done?

It could be done, but not until we have the updated toolset with the raw scripts.

Hmm and will that ever happen? I can guess Bioware has no way to control what player made mods someone can use, by limiting certain mods by who does or does not own the expansion. Will they even make a tooset available to add new stuff to the old game, for fear that folks may just not buy the expansion and use the new classes on the original game via mods?

This kind of thing worries me. Bioware seems strangly unprepared to make DLC, expansions and the original game compatible. Seems like a very clunky implementation for a game that was designed from the ground up for years of DLC and other styles of new content.

Am I a total whacko for picturing a system where I unlock X new class spec, and its on my list in the old game. Seemed totally normal for me to think Bioware would welcome all that work they did on new class specs as adding to the replay of the awesome original game.

Forgive my rambling, boring rainy weekend coming up and trying to talk myself into buying the expansion:happy:

Actually, the system in DA is designed specifically to enhance compatiblity with other modules, without the module developers having to specifically limit who gets access to the content they create.

I'm sure they will; they just didn't want to have to add it to the original files and break someone's improperly made mod, as has happened many times in Neverwinter Nights.

I think it's worth getting; I got it the first day it was in the stores here.

Er, a rather dirty work around, and I meant dirty, messy and possibly game breaking would be to copy files from your Awakening install into your /documents/bioware override folder. Far as I can tell, the talk table won't load the description properly and not all aspects of all talents will work (skills all work, except you have nothing in the Runecraft menu) such as Beyond the Veil's spirit damage conversion but Blessing of the Fade's increased attack speed would work.

But again, do so at your own risk.

Edit: Well, there is a way to get it to load, just stick it in an AddIn module folder and name it the proper name, it will load. Still, not everything seems to be working but I have been able to get everything to appear in Origins. Also note, if you do this before making a new character, only the Awakening Orlesian Warden Origin will be available (I'm assuming since the backgrounds GDA gets overwritten). I'm certain if I wanted to spend 5 minutes, could whittle it down to just the scripts and appropriate GDA files but eh, if you use it with an existing character, seems to work.
