This game has been freezing ramdomly since I purchased it on launch day. The game will freeze completely with a sustained high pitched noise coming from the speakers. The computer also becomes completely unresponsive and requires a hard restart.

Sometimes it lets me play for a few hours, and other times it will freeze after a few mins.

Has anyone else heard of this issue, or have any suggestions?

I downloaded all of the latest drivers for my video, and sound card the day before I installed the game, and also tried the patch which did not resolve the issue.

My specs are below:

AMD Phenom II quad 3.0G
ATI Raedon 4890 1 gig mem
Creative XFI card Fatality Edition
4 gig ram
Windows 7 64 bit

I would really like to start enjoying this game, but I need to resolve this issue first.

Anyone who can help me with this would have my gratitude.

I'm having the exact same thing. Game crashes, screen is either blue, black or black with lines, I get a high pitched noise or the music loops and it doesn't come back on. I've tried everything and nothing seems to work. Is it really random for you? I can recreate some of them. The Brecilian woods especially seem to crash my PC pretty good. I just reinstalled the game to test if it's the 1.01 patch or not. I have a similar setup to yours just with a little less firepower.

Check your cpu usage. If it is at or near 100% then you are having the same issue as many of us.

I ran the game fine for many hours but since a crash last night I've been getting the same type of freeze crash myself every so often, not constantly tho. I make sure to save frequently now.



I'm wondering if the graphics driver got corrupted.. I'm going to re-install my drivers and see if that fixes it.

Although "Me, Too!" might actually be as good a way as any to add a comment, IF THIS WAS A CONSOLE VERSION forum, this is the PC Version Tech discussion forum, and official support is elsewhere.  This is user to user.  There are as many combinations of different hardware as there are salt grains in a tablespoonful of that seasoning, so the readers here have to read the details of each different system before some few of us can occasionally offer some useful suggestions. 

In the six months since the OP asked his / her question, only that first message contained anything that the rest of the readers in here could work with.
