Game seems a bit too easy. Suggestions?

From what I've heard awakening is even easier...
Any suggestions to make more of a challenge? Stop using a mage healer in companion? I do like Anders but the healer combined with my light armor wielding powerhouse is a pretty deadly combination, much to the point of every battle being won without too much thinking, other than "hmm should I use whirlwind or just watch the show".

I use both but only the AI improvements of the nightmare plus mod since I don't like all of the other changes in other packages, I'm playing it on hard right now (since that is significantly harder than vanilla nightmare with the simple difficulty increase mod). Might bump it up if it's still too easy.
But actually the best tip I can give you might sound a bit weird but don't read too much tactics and the like on these forums. I've educated myself alot beyond my own trial and error on tactics and strategy and I know of so many ways to exploit the mechanics now from poor AI to overpowered spell combinations that it's become much harder for me to be challenged by the game than it was previously. You have to work at it a bit.

It seems to me I'd seen more recent action on this thread than what's indicated by the search engine, which is why it came to my attention.

Just want to point out that playing a duel wielding Warrior is pretty much God-mode in this game.
Rogue, you mean, right?

Yeah, what Beaner28 said
I came into DAO with no clear or full understanding of things like: tank, aggro, DPS, AoE, CC. Yes I played AD&D in the old days, some video games in the past, the BG series for example, so these ideas are implied in those experiences--except maybe aggro. But nowadays such ideas and game mechanics are fully codified and you really have to work these aspects to be successful. So you talk about getting YOUR ass kicked, believe me I know all about about having my ass handed to me, cripes!
So I had a great time learning how to manage combat in this game, and that coupled with the good story and char interaction, I've really enjoyed myself. By now I'm playing on hard, and I also don't often exploit the AI by pulling or kiting or do I often use of some spells or combos or fully min/max my chars--and finally I wear my ass on my backside most all the time for a change!
"kiting, pulling, min/max" yet more terms I've learned. I've not spent much time on forums other then this one either, so I've learned some funny stuff in that way too. I like this one: WoT DnR. Wall of Text Did Not Read--which of course you all already know

The two suggested mod are brilliant - I am doing the same now - simple difficulty increase + nightmare plus AI mod on Nightmare = Perfect!
Great solution if its too easy for anyone!

Just posting it here as well to let you know since the project has been on hold for quite some time. From reading some bug reports in the project discussions there seems to be various issues with the enemies package in general. Too bad I really like not being able to pull single enemies and still utilize full range of archers. :/
UPDATE: Found a possible replacement for pulling fix though it seems to be abandoned in beta status:

Will try it out and see.

Im guessing you have a lot of premium content unlocked,as well as the Collectors edition items?
Yeah, then your character is OVERPOWERED!But without it the game is pretty difficult at certain times. Before the wonderfully overpowered items it was kind of difficultm *dont go to Orzammar as your destination after lothering *wink* *wink*

About dlc stuff: Yeah I'm glad I don't have any of that, most of it seems overpowered.

I have a SH/AW that chose only the fire line for DPS who's only CC spell is mind blast , he filled out both the mage and SH line as well as the heal spell line and only ended up with the first two in the AW line.
This character was quite challenging on Hard and even had to drop a few battles back to normal. There were some times when he still was quite capable given enough access to mana and/or heal potions but there were no real cakewalks.
I think most people that complain the game is too easy are perhaps playing the system...
(maximizing their characters/party and minimizing enemy effectiveness with tactics that may be exploitive of the games AI and limitations)
more so than playing the game a bit more "as intended"... (creating a more balanced character/party and having fun dealing with the challenges the game can offer such a group).
After all the devs did program in ALL the talents and skills and such so clearly they wanted to offer a range of choices in spite of the fact that they were aware that many people would narrow the optimal choices down to a handful and label the rest as "useless" within days of the games release.
Not that there is anything wrong with either approach of course...
