Ok form what i understand Wade will make you drake skin armor it will be superior if you pay an extra 10 gold giving it better set bonus when equipped.

Then if you get the superior second set for 20 gold
and then make the Dragon scale armor it will be superior only when you have paid for the other 2 upgrades. 



My issue is I pay the 10 gold for the first set (the log confirms i pay 10 gold) but the quest updates and says he is making it for free. I end up with the NON superior set meaning i cant get the superior dragon set..
Anyone know why it wont let me get the superior set?

The only thing i can think of was i got the quest by looting a drake scale not talking to him first but that shouldn't have any effect

It's resolved, you still get the superior dragon scale version of the armor providing you pay for the second one.

The first set is nothing to shake a stick at

The first set of drakeskin is always normal. The second set of drakeskin is always superior. Neither of these is affected by actually paying for them.



But, if you pay for either set of drakeskin you get the superior set of dragon armor.
