May the shower of dissapointment come :wizard:

Meh I'm reaching the "don't really give a sh!t" state slowly but surely, here's hoping that some glorious revelation pulls me in again in june. Untill then fanfiction will have to keep me happy xD

Still I'm approaching the ritual in my what feels like 105th playthrough, gonna be interesting if it hits me as hard as it used to ;D

Edit: Wohoo 100 pages :D

2/1/2011 could be either an expansion or sequal but, considering how it's unlikely they'd add a flyer just to announce an expansion, my money is on DA2.

E3 is too big an event for Bioware not to at least give us a bit of info on what to expect until the end of 2010 and in first half of 2011.

I believe we'll see more of Morrigan in DA2 (Fernando Melo confirmed she'll be back ta some point), though a reunion with the Warden is in question. Right now I'll settle on seeing Morri again and consider a reunion as a potential bonus.

What I am eager to hear is what the next DA title will focus upon. Hopefully we'll get a website up and running shortly after E3 announcement.

I got tired of being the only negative person around here. :D

PS: It seems we got the approval all the way to 100. We are approaching the DR(E3).... Maker preserve us...

Yeah there are a bunch of kind of basic questions I'd like to know the answers to regarding the 2/1/2011 title:
  • Is it a sequel, expansion, spin-off...? --- I'm guessing its a sequel though, because its been announced as a standalone game and its getting a mobile version. I doubt you'd see a mobile version of just an ex-pack.
  • Who is going to be the PC? ------ This is the big one as far as me keeping interested in it. If its the Warden, fantastic, instant buy. If its not the Warden, then my interest will drop off greatly. Doesn't mean it can't be a great game, but much of my own buy-in factor will be gone.
  • Can we import from DAO?------Ideally we'd be able to import our Warden, but even if its not the Warden, I'd be curious if there would be any way to import our choices from Origins. Or at the very least, I'd like to know if the story would allow for choices from Origins to be relevent or if they're just going with some canon route. I'd be curious if we can import our character if we get reset at level 1 again too.
  • Are companions returning and are romances returning?---- I guess if the Warden wasn't returning I wouldn't care as much if the old Origins companions showed up, but I would like to know if they're going to have romances in the game, considering they didn't have them in Awakening.
  • How is the dialogue system going to work?-----If its too much like Awakening and object driven= bleh. I hope its more like Origins, but I'm doubtful. In any event I'll be curious to see what its like, as one of the big reasons I didn't care for Awakening was the dialogue system.
  • How long is it going to be?------ I know we likely wouldn't hear anything about this at E3, but its a point I'll be curious about. Origins worked for me in large part because of its epic scope and the length of the game certainly helped as you had time to build relationships with the companions and in the end actually care about them. I really didn't have a problem with Awakening's length ( my 1st run was about 17 hours) but given how Origins was a massive outlier for modern games in terms of length, I would not be the least bit surprised if DA2 is significantly shorter, like maybe around 40-50 hours for a completionist run versus 80+ for a completionist run in Origins.
  • Be on the look out for radical changes---- I wouldn't be surprised if BioWare makes radical changes to DA that none of us see coming. They might be good, they might be rotten, but given how radically they overhauled ME2's combat and RPG elelments along with how they totally overhauled Origins' dialogue system in Awakening, its something I'll be cautious about. Changes don't have to be a bad thing no doubt but I'll be curious how any changes they do make are communicated to the community. That was one of the things I wasn't too keen on with Awakening; was that they completely overhauled the dialogue system from Origins, whcih I thought worked well, but no where prior to launch did we learn that all companion dialogue was object driven or companion initiated.

Melo said alot of things about Awakening that weren't true in the end. I wouldn't put too much faith in his words. He's not a writer or anything, is he?

Seeing(or hearing about) Morrigan in the future is very possible, but not because Fernando said so.

I kinda have the reverse thing going, but I think we're pretty much on the same boat here. My interest for future DA titles is zero right now with all the bull**** I have to endure. Awakening and it's crappy interaction system, feast day pranks, Darkspawn Chronicles... Gaider calling our views myopic for wanting continuation.... and a million of other things. I may eventually gain interest again.

The two points I quoted are the only things I'm interested in and my buy factor largerly depends on them.

My guess is it's a sequal.

Right now our chances are 50/50 of it being the Warden. Even if it isn't I'd be interested as long as the story is good.
I already said that my main interest is in seeing Morrigan again, so as long as that happens I'll be willing to buy the game. Having both my Orgins Warden and Morrigan in DA2 would be a dream come true though and would make the game a "must buy" for me.

There are two ways the import option could work:

1) ME2 style - we import our character and his choices, but not stats or gear
2) story import - we import our choices from DA:O and this influences how ceirtain characters respond during the game (Morrigan and whoever else we run into from Origins)

Romances will only return if the Warden can be imported, otherwise the best we can get is meeting the old love interests and have them talk about their affair with the Warden.

As for companions, I wouldn't rule out that some of them might return provided that DA2 isn't set too far in the future.

From what David Gaider has said so far we're likely to see a mix between dialogue styles from Origins and Awakening. Keep in mind though, this may well change by the time DA2 is ready to be released.

While changes are likely to happen I wouldn't expect them to be radical. I think it'll mostly come down to improving things from Origins and Awakening based on player feedback. I would expect the skill trees to be reworked with some abilities being replaced with new ones or changed to make them more balanced.
Dialogue seems to be a hot potato atm, but as much as I liked the dialogue in Origins there is always room for improvement. As long as they don't reduce the amount of dialogue and retain the depth of character interaction from Origins I'll be happy. Bioware has been changing dialogue in almost every game they've released to date, so I'm pretty used to seeing changes in that particular field.

Ideally dosnt bioware want to get to a point where the core game is fixed and you get chapter based DLC every month or every other month. At a certain point you just have to live with your mechanics for a while and just implement the stories.

Well  I guess they've got the engine and a lot of the technical expertise down, so that they can build off of that for DA2. For example, I thought the level design in Awakening was better than Origins and I'd expect to keep seeing that sort of improvement. As for story based DLC every month? Probably not any time soon.

Monetization of that kind of thing though does seem to be the future. Something kind of like Alan Wake with the episodes and all. Maybe have the Origins story part of DAO free to play and then if you want, you buy the next chunk of the game, so on and so forth. I'm not crazy about that kind of thing but given how expensive games are getting to make for developers, they're looking to make $$$ off of anything with their games and I can't blame them.

Back to Morrigan!

You just ask her to join you in your tent. It's easy too miss you jump in her tent early in the game.

It's my favorite conversation in the game. Especially if you tell her she is evil.

Heh, Morrigan is simply more interesting character than Alistair because she never fully explained.
