Keep an eye out. Especially if you are a console player

Download the Winter Forge. It has a ton of awesome abilities, one of my favorites is the ability to dye weapons and armors to new colors, or to 'reforge' the item into a new skin.

Are mods of the Nexus that safe, since I got one and luckily could save my charachters from the glitch I caused so I want to be careful. It seems all I do is download the file. unzip it into the correct file, and thats it. I will be trying a few mods out just to see, so any tips before hand would be appreciated folks.
I've never had a single problem with a mod from Nexus, so I'd say your game is as safe from corruption with them as without. You never know with Bioware code.
Basically, the mods have one of two ways to install. If the file ends with a .dazip, then you can download and unzip it anywhere, and then you run the DAUpdater and install it that way. It's really simple. If it is just a normal zip file with the information in it, you drop the stuff off in your Override folder (Users/Me/Documents/Bioware/DragonAge/Packages/Core/Override, is where to find it on my computer. Should be about the same as yours.)
Other than that, easy peasy.
While it would upset me if they cannonized the DR I would get over and
go play the awsomeness of the next dragon age game
I think they can make it Canon without screwing over anyone who didn't do the Dark Ritual. Morrigan only told you what she needed from you to make sure she was pregnant, and to save your (or one of your companions) life. Bioware can easily plunk her down in DA2 with an OGB and come up with a logical workaround that doesn't ruin anyone's DA1 experience.
They wouldn't have scrapped the original ending and introduced the DR unless they planned to run with it in some way, so I expect to see it no matter what happens to my Warden(s).
The writers (David Gaider in specific obviously) are playing games with
us
Master the noncommital statement and you have it made in any sort of PR.
Terra_X has fixed that issue in Morrigan restoration patch,
Did she? I have her mod (which I downloaded on the 24th of last month when I got the gaming comp back up and running) and in my playthrough's he still gives the 'We don't know if her plan will work' speech at the Gates of Denerim. The changes to Flemeth and all that are there though, tis spectaculous!
In a somewhat related note, I really hope we see more puzzles in DA2.
As long as they are new and interesting puzzles and don't make my brain 'splode like the Fade. I prefer the dialogue riddles much more over standard puzzles, but the Last Crusade bridge bit was fantastic and I have no problem doing it in each playthrough.
One thing Avernus' notes and chat about the Wardens and the Taint
reminded me of is in Baldur's Gate when you can turn into the Slayer
form, what with it being part of your blood and all.
He was - from my POV - basically trying to create an army of sentient Ghouls. When you get down to it, a Grey Warden is a starter stage for a Darkspawn Ghoul. He was trying to open up the Darkspawn metamorphosis without causing the Warden to lose humanity/control. So it would be interesting to see; You'd basically have super fast, strong, tough, durable, plague for blood, supersoldiers that could just 'feel out' the enemy and track them down mercilessly.
Wouldn't that be a hell of a kicker? Avernus' research leads to a dehumanization of the Wardens, the Architect is trying to go in the complete opposite direction for the Darkspawn.
Heck, one good DLC that had a pretty definitive ending would be enough
for me.
Only problem is they will never make a DLC long enough to do that, without gouging us for 20-30 bucks at least. Even if it was a three hour DLC (which would probably run us 12-15 bucks), I don't think they could wrap it up in a satisfactory manner for even half the players.
Maybe the Old God has no memories when reborn just it's power, and then I
guess really anything is possible, but I don't think that is the case. I
think before the Architect woke the Old God up on accident. Flemeth met
the Old God in the Fade and made a deal with her/him to help him get
free. Since in your codex it says the Old Gods roam the fade like any
other spirit. And the Old God tells Flemeth of the Dark Ritual, and
maybe Flemeth gets some Old God goodies like Blood Magic x1000, and the
Old God becomes free from the Maker's dormat prison and the Darkspawn
taint, but when you kill or whatever with Flemeth and give her writings
to Morrigan. Morrigan begins to understand and put the puzzle together.
That's a really good theory, but I would go one step further. Flemeth's Abomination side has to be personally connected to the Old Gods in my mind. This is Fantasy, connections like that just happen! I would think the line when you confront her about having heard this many times, even said it a few times, might be her alluding to the fact this has been a plan in motion since Dumat went crazy.
Going back offtopic to my current 'Rogue, finally a non-DR Run' can I just say how completely different the tone feels just by changing out two companions? I usually run with Alistair as my tank for about half of the game, then sub him for either Sten or Oghren to 2H tank for me when soaking damage isn't as bad anymore, with my PC, Morrigan, and Zevran for the Roguely duties. This run, I have the Sunny Day Happy Squad as my teammates:

They have completely wierded me out. I'm using to Wynne browbeating me at Camp about how I should love Irving and the Circle of Magi, how the Chantry's right about us, and how I should be a Terminator and not a human. I have Morrigan picking fights with everyone, Oghren drunkenly coming onto the female party members (or me in camp!), and Zevran completely torturing everyone with his stylish, lecherous humor.
But no, this run, everyone's kissing Wynne's ass. Alistair is treating her like his grandmother, and they are talking about stitching clothes and lost socks. Leliana seems to worship her as a Lady Cecilie type figure as well and they constantly have 'upper' conversations about the Chantry and how noble and smart Wynne is. Alistair and Leliana have some sort of cousinly ribbing going on when they aren't talking about making soup or how to best freak out people in the Chantry.
It's freaky. I'm used to my party just waiting for the time a Darkspawn knocks me out so they can go all Lord of the Flies on each other, and this groups running like it's a Griswold vacation minus the awesome radiation cooking Uncle in the desert.
But Leliana is starting to get some respect from me now. I think I fell into the Morrigan trap with her. I based what I knew, or thought I knew about her, by her first characterization, instead of watching the path she follows and see where she ends up. Now that she's hardened, she's turned into kind of an awesome, sexy badass assassin. Still not Morrigan, but man it was torture there for the first treaty or two to not go crazy and just abandon the no-Morrigan clause in this playthrough.

@Swoo: Hahaha wow, that Wynne morph is interesting. It looks like you took 20-30 years off of her.
I believe it's just a combination of good angle and flattering lighting for the picture. It's about 10 years younger looking, but she's not fooling anyone that she's a thirtysomething
Edit: Just checked out those new pages. Spoiler Alert: In Page 21 she actually slips a dagger into Edric's ribs and uses him as a blood sacrifice, with the vicious Gaidlock poking out of the background giving a Nelson 'Ha-Ha!'.
You've been forewarned. Plan accordingly.

Atm, my mod implements the same fix as ejoslin's (also used in Gatekisses) which iirc makes him know about it only if he performed it himself. I could fix Alistair very easily (and I really want to) but it requires distributing a modified alistair_main.dlg file, and since I'm not modding Alistair, the middle ground fix remains for now. I have fixed Loghain though as a separate download. As a reminder, I'm a guy
I actually have the next version of the patch nearly ready to go which restores the Greagoir scene in addition to new bugfixes and it's looking pretty nice imo. Sadly the toolset's crust VFX functionality in cutscenes seems to be broken for non-vanilla vfx files (can't be associated with an actor seemingly), so I'm having to implement a long and time-consuming workaround to give Morri the new vfx during the cutscene... such a pain...

Btw, charsen's gatekiss for Morrigan has the same issue with vanilla. If you leave her at the gates her speech will be prematurely get cut off.

What is Alistair supposed to say at the Gates, because I just checked and afaik he shouldn't know about the Ritual, he does at the gates without me saying anything in his goodbye speech.

Why if she wants you to do it, does she not really tell you her plans, or tell you she is leaving. If she hid the truth for so long why cant she keep doing it, I mean her whole spiel about "I get a baby and then leave, and never will see you again" it really is a weak argument, especially if you spare Loghain. What do you guys feel about it.

Ugh. Just when the people here finally stopped talking about the DR and going in circles, you come in and ask what they have been talking about for most of the thread, thus starting the circle anew lol (jk btw
Yes, Morrigan could have said nothing and had the DR done anyways. Or she could have promised to remain and she would have left anyways. But that is not Morrigan. She is clear, straight forward and doesn't play around. I think she believes that the PC earned her respect (and perhaps love) that he / she deserves to know the truth before doing the ritual.
It's also a way for the game not to screw you over and say "Ha! Got ya".

Weak is an understatement. The worst thing you can cast against a writing team is that their story and plot hooks were contrived. But that's what it felt like to me. Force the PC out of character and allow the plot hook an unrealistic level of plot armor and you have the romanced Morrigan ending to Dragon Age. It was forced and appeared to be hurriedly put together which ended up failing to distinguish in any meaningful way a romancing Warden from a freindly or even hostile one.
It really left a bad taste for me, and what once captured my imagination more so than any story I've engaged, was superceded and overshawowed by the epic feel of Mass Effect. Yes, I know they're different genres, but there is no comparison in satisfaction in endings (and that's what sells games for good or for bad).
The DR sequence could have been done so much better. As it was, the most critical point in the story for a Morrigan romancing Warden felt like nothing more than a low grade bi+c# slap after 80 hours in the game.
Maybe, it's just me though.

If you take him with you he'll tell you that he doesn't expect that both of you will survive. If you leave him at the gates he won't bring it up unless you point out to him that the archdemon doesn't stand a chance. In this case he will say that he won't forget the sacrifice you are making.Swoo wrote...

The thing is, some XBOX exclusives are available for PC players(Mass Effect, Fable etc), but the same cannot be said about PS3 games. God of War is excusive to sony and I don't think they plan on giving it to microsoft any time soon. With PC and PS3 I'll have a bigger array of games to choose from.Barbarossa2010 wrote...
You
know, you can have both. I actually do have a PS3, but only play
"Uncharted" on it; it's a pretty fun little game. I use it every so
often, but mainly only for the BlueRay.
Having used both, the
XBOX 360 is a much better gaming platform imo, with double the frame rates in most higher end games, and with a better game selection. Solving the God of War thing is tough, but don't they release them on PC eventually? A little closer to home, Dragon Age is very poorly supported on the PS3 and Mass Effect (1 or 2) were not released on the
platform. Just food for thought.
I heard that the 360 performs better than the PS3 for multiplats but my PC blows both of them out of the water. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png I'm only considering getting a console for the exclusives. I'll use my PC for games like Dragon Age and Fallout.
I don't do "console wars" I just buy them all, they've all got exclusives that the other ones don't - PS3 has Uncharted 2 which is one of the greatest games I've ever played with a fantastic engine & some Claudia Black goodnessIt's
also got the likes of Valkyria Chronicles which has a superb battle system and beautiful aesthetics. Likewise, the 360 also has its merits, but despite the fact I've got a large library of titles for it at lot of them do feel somewhat generic. But yeah, if you've got the cash to spare and the desire to play said exclusives I'd say go for it. A decent PC will always put the consoles to shame though but at least with the consoles you don't have the DRM nonsense to work around.
Well that was my best sales pitch which was little more than a shameless attempt to build my friends list.
I might try Valkyria Chronicles; I've heard alot of good about it. I did start to toy around with Risen (to take a break in the middle of my Army of Two: TFD Contractor [Insane] playthrough) and it is interesting with very decent graphics and lighting. A very simplistic dialogue system, but fun in a light hearted sense. Not far enough along to rate the combat system yet.

If you ever get around to seeing the light of PC gaming, you should give The Witcher a shot. Its a "dark" RPG that I think does the whole consequences angle better than DAO. ALthough the combat system is kind of wonky, its a pretty good game- and the sequel is supposed to be coming out early next year- same time as the 2/1/2011 DA thing.
